I would love if we had miracles with a summoned axe just like Carian Slicer is a sword for sorceries. I don’t dislike the pebble shotgun, but meh. Like this build, not bad!
This is a much cooler, and more focused build that is close to one I ran several patches ago. Inspired to restart now. Awesomeness as always. Thank you for the work you put into these videos.
I took a loooong break from the game. But your last build video inspired me to come back to the game and beat it. Used your build first, then Greatsword with Cragblade and finally Godfrey axe.
This build is actually just a pure INT build that forgoes using spells, and instead opts to use magic based ashes of war instead. So one good thing I see is that you can easily swap back and forth between a caster playstyle and this playstyle on a whim, provided that you have all the needed stuffs on hand. Heck, maybe you don't even need to swap around. Just put all the usual sorceries in your memory slots, while having few daggers with those ashes of war equipped, simultaneously. Use either the spells or the ashes of war, depending on your mood at the moment. It will most likely burn through FP really fast though, lol.
The good thing about the build is that you don’t use ranged as much as possible. Thats why I like it. Ranging stuff down in this game destroys the feeling of conquest IMO.
@@cygnusy1481 TBH, the build shown in this video actually isn't unique in that regard. IMO, there are two other ways to make a melee based pure/high-INT build. First is a classic-style "magic knight" build that uses magic infused weapons with high INT, with little spellcasting. This build is probably the most FP efficient, since swinging a weapon only costs stamina. However, it could require more weight limit, depending on the kinds of weapon(s) chosen. I've ran builds like this in the past in older Dark Souls games, and they do work just fine. Second is a new addition that came with Elden Ring: the Carian Slicer build. It's essentially a pure caster build, except you barely use any ranged spells and instead use the Carian Slicer (and Carian Greatsword/Adula's Moonblade) for 90% of the time, hence fighting like a melee warrior, even though you are a mage. IMO, what the build in the video has over these two builds is the stagger potential. The three ashes of war can deal poise damage like champs, which can buy you time to avoid damage and deal heavy blows. On the other hand, the stagger potential of the weapon based build is purely dependent on the weapon itself, whereas the Carian Slicer can't stagger for jack, AFAIK.
@@venn2001ad i agree with you. I also think carian slicer is overtuned, especially regarding FP to damage ratio. I ran an int scaling weapon build with the dark moon gs, prioritizing charged attacks and hitting the beam+sword, basically never going for the ranged portion. That was fun, but this seems more versatile.
Sadly, Glintblade Phalanx was nerfed, meaning it's efficacy as a setup tool for stance breaks is very greatly diminished (the poise damage per blade is only 5 now, rather than 10)
Greetings, I have a question. Do you own a table of the ashes of war according to their own scaling and any value about them? It's pretty hard to find exploitable datas. Great video, as per usual. Considering buying the book soon (hoping there is France delivery).
if you use the physical weapon to attack with the ash or do non-elemental, its likely based on AR. Ex. spinning slash. if you hit hit with an elemental attack such as a projectile, its likely based off of that associated stat. Ex intelligence for phalanx, faith for sacred blade. If the default infusion for a fire AOW is fire, it scales with srength, if the default infusion is flame art, scales with faith. There are a few exceptions to this, like hoarfrost stomp, which using this logic should scale off intelligence, but its a good rule of thumb.
Really nice video, keep them coming! :D I've been actually playing with this build but didn't get hoarfrost yet in my playthrough. What stats would you recommend for a level 80 wretch?
i played a similar one but pvp focused, now i'm thinkering around a troll roar build, the roar buffing axe on off hand, roar medallion, shard of alexander, watchdogs greatsword for that s strenght scaling, the plan is simple enough, u tank or counter a long jump attack with the roar and watch enemies explode u should try something with that
very fun looking build that's skill testing and satisfying i'd probably get really good at two handing for ashes, which i'm currently absolute trash at any particular reasons for which hand each dagger is in, or why you have the misericord with that ash in that hand? i am kinda curious about the difference between misericord critical and carian grandure critical. is the grandure substantially better i assume, since that's shw you're doing?
He’s saying if you have time. Charge grandeur and slash with it. If you don’t have time and their stagger is almost over just go for the critical And using Misericorde. Because it is the best critical weapon and best dagger in the game hands down
I used a similar build in ds3 and now Elden ring, but instead it’s a pseudo mage that specializes in beating the crap out of people with magic infused weapons with endure. Bait people with various spells and get them over confident. Then absolutely shred them with something like a caestus using endure to tank and spank. If they get scared, start pressuring with star shower or swift glintstone shard. Focus on maximum absorption for armor since poise is irrelevant, and use any other staff than carian royal for freeing up your ash for endure to combo into carian slicer or greatsword/moonblade. Keep a dagger in 2nd slot main hand for extra ash of wars and crits. 12 faith will give you access to many useful incantations for absorption especially magic. Use radagons icon and great jars arsenal with the last 2 being open for whatever you need.
I still struggle with using BOTH sorcery and using my weapons when I have 80INT. Like, if I have crazy weapons with crazy ashes of war, why am I even bothering with casting spells. I’ve come to accept that maybe I only just carry 3-4 spells that I’ll cast in very specific situations, otherwise my Wing of Astel will wreck stuff. It’s interesting to know that bullet arts do not scale with AR and only stats… does that mean I only need to consider if the weapon has a good scaling stat? Why does the Carian Knight Sword have a D in INT so stupid
@@Chrightt Ultimately I went with the build in this video here, but added the Glinstone Kris for ranged damage (and fits the dagger theme too!). I will say that I also barely any spells at 80INT besides Carian Slicer, but not because spells don't fit the theme, but because sorcery suck aaaaaaazz. They cost so much FP and do less damage than my Ashes of War...maybe they are better at ranged DPS, but that's also incredibly boring and inefficient.
Amazing builds as always! I feel like this could also work in PVP if you switch out grandure for pebble, going to try it out!!!!! Thanks again for all the work yuo do!
Rock Sling can be charged to deal more stamina damage and fly further. You can test out just clicking rock sling once and holding on to your cast button.
@@Chrightt Huh. Unfortunately, I don’t own Elden ring. But it doesn’t say in description of rock sling that it can be charged though. In addition, the background footage when you were talking about charging rock sling was just footage of normal rock sling. Honestly you probably could’ve read it easily before, but I don’t want to present myself as the average dude who runs around going “omg spell so op elder rimg bad”
Thought fextra said that grandeur fully charged only deals 30 poise damage Edit: does 80 int give that much damage increase to our ash of war ? How does it compare to 60 int only for the sceptre spin and use the spare points for others
t's not really bladeless as there is still a blade. You could instead use the melee magic spells like Carian Greatsword, Carian Slicer, Adulas Moon Blade, etc. It would be truely bladeless then.

Margit/Morgott's summoned gold weapons would be perfect for weapon incants.
Maliketh’s incantation?
Catch flame is the equivalent of carian slicer for faith thought cost more than twice as much fp
@@modsas9309 also catch flame has no chain casting, making it again harder to spam
I though it is chain castable though? The second catch flame comes out faster than the first one.
Bro sounds as if hes preparing his nobel phantasm in the beginning
🤣 Thought it suited the character. Sounds like something someone who makes blades out of magic instead of just shooting magic would say.

Finally something different in magic than moonveil or wing of stel to go with for Ash build
groovy, thx!!!!
Love the off meta builds, doing sweet work Chrightt.
RIP carian phalanx: as of SOTE'S release, i believe the poise damage of the glintblades was halved from 10 damage per blade to only 5

Forgo the normal weapon for Carian Grandeur and use the Carian sword that comes with that Ash of War, it is upgradable with Somber stones.

Ok Shichika
Flame of Redmanes cost too much fp compared to phalanx. Plus phalanx uses no stamina to cast. Just stand under an enemy and spam it to stance break.
