I was born in 1960. What I call rock, today is called heavy metal, rock and roll, folk rock, progressive rock, etc. We called it all rock. If it wasn't classic or disco, or country and western, it pretty well was rock. I think it was the best music ever produced, and I believe more people had that music touch their souls, than any other type of music. I love watching younger people listen to the music I grew up with and get so touched by the music. Whether by lyrics still relevant 40+ years later, or the music itself, there was something about the groups in the 70's that made a difference. They all had an important message to pass on. Not just, sex drugs and rock and roll, but singing against war and injustice, or about life and how not to waste it, they had passion and it showed. They were not doing it to make money, it was NOT a job, it was their passion. And THAT showed! One of the best comments I read was : Every guitar wants to get a David Gilmour for Christmas!! (Guitarist for Pink Floyd)
Wow!!! That has to be one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen! I always worry when reactors choose live versions of songs because they rarely live up to the studio version, but this performance was unbelievably tight! Everything was on point!!
I love watching young people such as yourself discovering for the first time music that I grew up listening to and loving. It's comforting knowing that in this crazy world with forces pulling everyone to the left/right/up/down that we can all agree on great music.
Dude...it took you back to the 70s, and you wasn't even born yet. I was. 10 yrs old when this song came out & it ate up the radio, which was where we got ALL our music. It's the background music of my life, and it's me. The whole song is just me.
When this came out, we used to drive around hoping the local radio station would play it. We’d find phone booths and keep calling in to ask if they’d play it, back when you could request songs.
Manfred Mann was a great British rock band from the 60's. They had some great songs including "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" "Pretty Flamingo", "Mighty Quinn", "5-4-3-2-1" & "Sha La La". Manfred Mann's Earth Band is an English rock band formed by South African musician Manfred Mann later in 1971. Their hits include covers of Bruce Springsteen's "For You", "Spirit In The Night" & "Blinded By The Light" which was a big hit for them in 1976.
Amazing song from the summer of 1976. Also your Peter Frampton song was fro the same time. The summer of 76 was a great time to be alive. Another fantastic reaction James x
the seventies and the eighties had real musicians. People that wrote their own music, played and instrument and performed it. I don't see this much anymore. Talent!
You can't listen to this song and be in a bad mood, when it's over. It's just a feel good song. I love it, but it always makes me wonder wtf was Springsteen, thinking when he wrote it.
What a great song, so happy he annunciated "duece" we were mislead off the radio😉😂 So fun to watch you & your love of music!♥️✌the lights were magical!!!😍 I thought of a ditty that many do not react to, and I love your reactions to the ballads... "Romeo & Juliet" by Dire Straits! I'll watch ya no matter what song😉♥️✌
JB! Watching you watch this gave me goosebumps! One of my all time fave songs and performances. It has the same jump up and down effect on me and I've heard it a thousand times. Springsteen wrote it, MMEB OWNED IT. Awesome. Good to see you well and happy guy.
Yes it was. But his version sounds like a weirdo sitting and counting cows with a straw between his teeth. No diss to him, but this is 100x better. And also the only #1 Springsteen has on Billboard Hot 100 as a writer. So all Springsteens should be appriactive.
Love this song. Originally written by Bruce Springsteen but this cover is fire. It was great being in high school during the seventies.. just the best music all at the same time.1
You definitely need to check out the group, Yes! Some of their best songs are Close to the Edge(18 minutes long), Roundabout, Yours is no Disgrace, And You and I, and Awaken for starters

Kia ora hello James brother hay Chris Thompson manfred Manns vocalist is a really close friend of my Dad here in Aotearoa new zealand he gave my oldest two sons their first bike's he's a good down to earth guy not full of himself in my experience with some awesome music story's
Of course back then we didn't say deuce, we said douche, LOL, we always changed words around if we couldn't tell what they were singing. Back then it wasn't as clear as hearing it in person. Suggest Mighty Quinn for the next one, that was a hit for them.
This is on my list of 5 songs I can have on a desert island. I have loved this since I was a kid, because it makes no sense...lol. The lyric video is so much better than this, though. You need to watch that one day 🙂🙂.
I enjoy that light waaaaay too much 🤣🤣🤣
Me too 😂😂😂😂🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@JBLETHALTV Love you JB !!!

Love that song and it’s so heartening to see other people enjoying it so much. Bless you.

That whole album is TOTAL GOLD!!!!!!! One my favorite albums of all time!
1975, my birth year! They just don’t make music like this anymore, it’s a shame. That performance is absolutely epic.

I think of Stripes immediately 😂
Hey Ox, You're different. You're weird. You're a mutant. You're a killer. You're a trained killer. You're a lean... Mean... Fighting machine!
- Ox: I'll do it!”
•Stripes movie quote 1981
*is...they still tour. Even though Manfred is 80+
My 7 year old great granddaughter was watching this with me and she said to tell you she loves your hat. She’s a huge Yoda fan lol
Grew up to this Song... good memories come from good music 🎶 🎵
Amazing song from the summer of 1976. Also your Peter Frampton song was fro the same time. The summer of 76 was a great time to be alive. Another fantastic reaction James x
Shout out to the drummer, he's putting in the work.
Always loved This song. Even though I have absolutely no idea what it’s about I just have always loved it great reaction James
About a hooker surviving the night.
I love your reactions to music like this. You remind me of my youth.
This is from an era when musicians could really perform.
This song needs more attention. Everyone should be listening to this and feel like us.
That song has ALOT of attention. It was #1 on Billboard 100, and have been in countless movies since.
Takin me down memory lane welcome to old school Rock🎼🎼🎼🎧🎧🎧🎧💖enjoy👊🔥🇺🇸🕇
the seventies and the eighties had real musicians. People that wrote their own music, played and instrument and performed it. I don't see this much anymore. Talent!

Love your joy of great music big guy!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know that you will get this a dozen times or more, but this was written by Bruce Springsteen and was off of his Greetings From Asbury Park album.
Yes it was. But his version sounds like a weirdo sitting and counting cows with a straw between his teeth. No diss to him, but this is 100x better. And also the only #1 Springsteen has on Billboard Hot 100 as a writer. So all Springsteens should be appriactive.

This song came out in the 80's when I was still in middle school in my younger years Lol
I luv ya with your light show. I gotta admit, I never understood the lyrics.
You can still here a bit of his Kiwi accent in the start of the video he hasn't sounded like that in decades
❤️❤️❤️
Of course back then we didn't say deuce, we said douche, LOL, we always changed words around if we couldn't tell what they were singing. Back then it wasn't as clear as hearing it in person. Suggest Mighty Quinn for the next one, that was a hit for them.

Great reaction, but listen to the studio long version of this song. You will appreciate it more.
first
Check out king george keep on rollin new song old school sound
Bruce Springsteen wrote this song.
Can I ask how old are you?
Did anyone else get the lyrics really wrong? 😂🤣
Bruce Springsteen wrote this but Manfred Mann’s cover is different and much better imo. That doesn’t happen a lot.
I wouldnt say its a cover. I would say its a "remake". The OG version sounds like a guy sitting on a field counting cows.
@@ImperialMJG Lol! I agree 🙂
This song was written by Bruce Springsteen however manfred Mann performed it much better than he did.
