Try them with Pseudomugil gertrudae. They look stunning together. If you use mops you'll be able to collect eggs from both species (lampeyes are fry predators).
@@scoby815 nah theyll be okay if ready youll see fry within a few hours or the next day. Make sure your water level in hatch tray is low, they have to expand swim bladder by getting air from top its best if they dont have to swim too high for air, it helps avoid belly sliders. If none hatch just rebag the peat and wait a week put them somewhere warm
@@scoby815 use somewhat cold drinking water , by that i dont mean fridge cold but cold enough that your fingers wouldnt go numb if left in the water too long, i guess best way to explain would be a cool temp not freezing
The fish are doing great! If you don't want to chop up the bloodworms be very careful with smaller fry, I have had them choke on a bloodworm trying to swallow it. You are doing great with a fish some experienced killifish hobbyist have problems with, so keep doing what your doing. It is true that the males appear to grow quicker but actually they are simply larger fish, to verify the sex of the fish early take a look at the anal fins very carefully in the next week or two. Males develop their first signs of color in the anal fins. Great video looking forward to the updates.
once again thanks phil for the advice. but i don't understand how experts can have a difficulty with these guys because I'm no expert and they seem to be doing just fine.
don't underestimate the visual appeal of lampeyes - keep them in a group and be amazed!
i am actually setting up a 40 gallon, dedicated to lameyes and im about to get 40 more
