    Twila Paris has one of the most anointed voices on the planet! She is the closest thing that we have on earth to a angel! Too bad that the radio people shy away from those that have the true anointing! God bless you Twila for not comprimising the gospel in your music!

      Danny Jones That's a good point about Twila. Yes, why do we not hear more of her on the radio? I know that contemporary Christian radio focuses on the current popular artists, and Twila hasn't recorded since 2007, but even before 2007 I rarely heard her on the radio. And the same argument probably also applies to Sandi Patty. And perhaps Darlene Zschech. We hear a lot of Laura Story (who I consider to be in the same class as the other artists I mentioned); why is she handled differently?

    No you are not the only depressed person on this planet. I have Chronic Depression, meaning I have it ALL the time for decades now, & Manic-Depression ( Bipolar Disorder ). I take 8 meds JUST for these 2 types of depression. They help alot. Before I started taking them I was a raving lunatic who could not stop crying. I see a Psychiatrist, Psychologist &
    Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I got 2 free tiny adorable kittens in June 2010 & they have perked up my life. God bless you friend!

      BipolarForJesus Dear brother or sister I suffered from chronic depression for many years , particularly after my two children were born. My daughter is bipolar. After I came to Christ , I was never in despair I think. I suffer traumas , but I am always aware that he is with me. Prairie to His Name.

    Your experience is a lot like mine. For many years, up until about 2000, all I listened to country music. A lot of it trashy. Then I heard the song "Redeemer" by Nicole C. Mullen, and I started checking out Christian music. Nowadays it's pretty much all I listen to. And I've created over 500 Christian RUclips videos. It's been a blessing.

    • @jodifaul5904

      For years all I listen to was country music for the most part. Then God introduced me to Christian music other than the hands when I was in a Christian seventh-day Adventist boarding school for my last 2 years of high school. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. We had a chapel in each dorm and as I would be walking back and forth to class to work I would hear someone playing the piano and singing Amy Grant and I thought wow what is this I thought the only Christian songs. In a while we can sing about other things besides God and it can be clean and not trashy. So as much as I still loved country music and the sound I was convicted to not listen to all the trash and more and more I would turn the radio station what I would be listening to songs that God would make me that were wrong and eventually I just got tired of turning the station so I just listen to Christian music. But I have gone too far and not listen to enough country because there is some really good stuff out there. I wish that a lot of my favorite songs were changed so I could feel good about listening to them. Sometimes I go back and listen to some of the songs but I really liked but it brings me down. But there is definitely some good clean country music and the sound is fabulous. There's people like Paul overstreet that give you the best of both worlds. Anyways I praise God for the gift and the blessings of music. It is a powerful tool used for good or for evil. Let us choose the good.

      I saw Twila in concert in 9/2001. You remember the tragic event in that month, 9/11. She sang some beautiful songs, including "Lamb Of God" and "I Will Listen." Then she closed by making some comforting remarks about the tragedy, and then she burst into her song "God Is In Control." I don't know about everyone else, but I left that concert feeling much better concerning the tragedy, understanding that indeed God is in control.

    Amen. You speak the truth. We have to come like a child, hanging on to nothing but Him. He loves you so much. I'm sure there are others who read these who will continue to pray for you. I know that I will. God bless you. I speak from experience when I say that coming from the depression and the health issues is a process, but you will, in His time, see more and more goodness and love. There's going to come a time that He will use the things that you have been through to help others.

    God in his mercy and by your letters of love and mercy and your prayers .... I've met the God I've been longing after for so many years. I still suffer from depression and a miriad of health problems. But with his help and a sobering view of things now, I come to him empty handed and on my knees with no agenda of my own. I realise now that all of us are sick but only a few of us are willing to admit it. And to that degree Christ will save us and shine in the cracks of our hearts to others.

    Hi cmdesign, I DO know what you mean so well that I don't go to church anymore! Haven't gone in 3 or 4 years! There I sit crying, humiliating & embarrassing myself while everyone else is listening, smiling, singing & saying out loud words like
    Amen, Praise the Lord & Hallelujah. I feel worthless, guilty, rotten, like a no good fake Christian, lonely for Jesus, who should stay home & let them raise their arms
    to their heart's content. I want to 'fit in' but don't, & feel SO empty inside.

    thank you for writing to me. i see so many "happy" people in church raising their hands and clapping and smiling and telling me things like "don't you know God wants you to be happy?" and it just makes me feel worse. Much worse. Like a complete failure as a person and a believer. It comforts me to come across people like you that I can relate to. thank you for reaching out to me.

      One of my memorable experiences was attending a Twila Paris concert just a couple of days after 9/11/2001. She closed out her performance by saying a few words about the tragedy, and then she sang a mellow version of "God Is In Control." I don't know about the rest of the audience, but I was still pretty distraught about the tragedy, but hearing that song done so poignantly by Twila really, really lifted my spirits. When she finished the song, there was no applause, everyone was just too overwhelmed to applaud.

    For Mike:
    This song is about our inner life, those times we all have when we are like children in the dark, afraid, insignificant, alone, when we forget that regardless of who we are there's a loving God beside us.

      @BobMarshall1952  7 лет назад

      Yep, me, too. I go way back with her music. I saw her in concert in 2001, a few days after the 9/11 attack. She did a wonderful set, and closed by saying a few words about the attack, and then closed with a moving rendition of "God Is In Control." When she was done with the song, which is a rousing song, there was no applause, just an overwhelming sense of peace that despite the awful tragedy that had just occurred, He is still in control. Wow, what a memorable experience that was.
      The first song I sang in church as a solo was a Twila Paris song. I had planned to sing her song "I Will Listen", but when I cued up the track to practice it, I hit the wrong button and the song "What Did He Die For?" played instead. Hmm, it was Memorial Day weekend, by coincidence. So, at the last second I decided to sing that song instead, even though I only had a day to practice it. It went well. I finally sang "I Will Listen" a few years later, when my wife and I were contemplating moving out of the state. That song has the line "and this is where I stand, until He moves me on, and I will listen to His voice." And we did stand where we were, He did not move us on, and we are still here in Cool, CA.
      And, yes, I miss Twila's music on the radio. And Sandi Patty.

    It is sad that there are "Christians" that judge others, and smiling faces can hide despair. We are ALL sinners and NONE of us deserves the grace and mercy we receive from Jesus Christ.These are free because He loves us. Our repentence of our sins and our acceptance of His amazing gift allow us equal access to Him. I'm so sorry that selfish, ignorant people have hurt you. I'm praying for you to receive comfort from Jesus.

      Aww, what kind words, Katharine! Thank you so much! Yes, I do find that I am somewhat unique when it comes to putting these things together. I listen to the lyrics and makes of what images and visions pop into my head, and then I go searching around for images to match what I have envisioned.
      Many people take a song and just add random pretty pictures of mountains and sunsets and flowers and such. Nothing really wrong with that, I guess, but it doesn't take a lot of thought or creativity. What annoys me the most is when someone takes a song that is already hugely popular, adds a single blurry picture of the cover of the CD, and the "video" gets millions of views while my artistic one for the same song gets maybe 10,000 views.
      Another RUclips contributor with a style similar to mine is named beanscot. Check out her channel. ruclips.net/user/beanscot

      I attend Celebrate Recovery at several churches in my area. I run the projector at those churches. So I get to choose what goes up on the screen prior to the meeting. I choose videos that I have made that fit in with Celebrate Recovery's theme of hurts, habits, and hangups. And this is one of the ones I play frequently. Many people who attend Celebrate Recovery need encouragement, many have low self-esteem, and they need to know that they are not forgotten. You may want to check out Celebrate Recovery if you need inspiration. Just so you know, it's about a whole lot more than just substance abuse. It covers a wide spectrum of life issues.

      I just wrote a a comment and it was deleted.....here goes again. When I felt the same., I sat down and poured my heart out to Lord in a quiet place. I repented of everything I knew to repent of...not trusting Him not believing His word...I told Him everything going on, what had happened to me, everything, cried my eyeballs out....I said Lord, if You don't help me, I am going under. HE HEARD me.....and I just kept thanking Him...nothing changed for a while, but He will send help. Know this....there is nothing that we go through that He will not use later down the road. You will be able to help someone who is exactly where you are. HE IS A BIG God....He will turn ALL things together for good for those who love and obey Him. Praying for you Carly MJ

    See, what a shame that is that you had never heard of Twila Paris. She is a pillar of Christian music, but you rarely hear her on the radio any more. When it comes to Christian music, for someone to say that they've never heard of Twila is like saying "I've never heard of Elvis Presley." I'm not criticizing you, I'm just pointing out a trend in the industry. I could say the same for Sandi Patty; she had an affair, so radio stopped playing her music. How Christian is that?

    • @twilafan
      @twilafan 5 лет назад

      The least the C.C.M. industry could do is remaster back catalogues of its GOATs. We saw how the Amy Grant remasters renewed interest in that artist and helped encourage Christian radio to bring her back (to say naught of encouraging her to record new C.C.M. works). And of course, classic rock radio has been augmented in popularity by the best bands' previous content being remastered. My point is that, even in this age of streaming, a remaster program can jumpstart an artist or group's career, whether Christian or secular. Twila didn't sell that many albums, but she got A LOT of radio play in the late 20th century, so if the industry could but put on its big-boy pants, she and other greats of the genre could receive a massive, throbbing shot in the arm.

    Beautiful song beautiful words. Praise the Lord that He loves all of us. Maybe the next time you make a video you may make it a little bit more diverse. One that shows ALL of God's beautiful creatures.

    • @BobMarshall1952
      @BobMarshall1952  6 лет назад

      You know, I get that a lot. About my apparent lack of diversity. Here's the way it works. I listen to the lyrics, each lyric inspires a particular emotion. And I search for images that match that emotion. Most of them turn out to be attractive Caucasian women. That's just how it is. I do not go so far as to try to put quotas on my choices of images. I do not tell myself "hmm, I probably should include more pictures of black women or Hispanic women." I am looking to portray emotion, and if it happens that most of the pictures are of white people, so be it. I'm not about to get distracted about being politically correct or diverse. No, I am not a bigot, just that in the big scheme of these image searches that's just the way it plays out. But I appreciate your advice.

    thank you all for letting me I'm not the only one ..the only sufferer suffering alone inspite of so many happy smiling faces. my photo on here I'm smiling but i'm anything but. It is said that "Jesus was a man of many sorrows". Why is it in the church so many are afraid to speak up and open up and be vulnerable. WE shoot our wounded. I've recieved more judgement in church than from horribly sinning pagans I've met OUTside the church. But some ...some fellow believers have been amazing.
