- From her 1998 album "Where We Stand" this is a song Twila wrote that has to do with the things that we hold onto in our lives: money, fame, anger, pain, glory, etc. All of that is a dead-end. If we will only hold onto Jesus then we are "holding on to hope".
glad to finally find one of my favorite songs, used to listen to it on radio christian voice zambia, thank you so much Bob Marshall.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO...THANK-YOU SO MUCH !❤
One of my all-time favs. Shared it today on LinkedIn.
That song 2022 just bless me the same way as years ago.
One of the finest songs to come out of the last 20 years. I remember I used to cry myself to sleep with this one after my ex-wife filed for divorce. Even today, 16 years later, it still has the power to bring me to tears.
Great video, thanks for posting.
All right, I'm going to get controversial and that thought makes me happy. Divorce should be totally illegal. You know, everone has their sad sob stories. Everyone has their rehearsed excuses. But, let me tell you something. I stayed with my faithful wife for 28 years in sickness and in health. By the way, my wife died in December 2016. I believe it is wrong for a man to leave his wife. I believe it is wrong for a woman to leave her husband. Think about the vows you said on your wedding day. Those vows are vows. The problem is you have pastors and radio ministries who don't believe divorce is wrong. Hey, pastors, wake up open your bibles for once in your life, and teach your congregations divorce is wrong. That is how you will have stronger families.
Staying with an abuser is wrong. This is not a rehearsed excuse.
My neighbor systematically abused and terrorized his wife. Not only that, he was a vile and creepy neighbor.
When she went to divorce him, he “forgot” his wedding vows and shot her.
My Christian believing husband also decided to leave me and my child when he was just a baby.
But the Lord God, he had taken care and blessed our lives and brought us a much more better future.
People will let you down and even ones that you thought you knew even a believer you thought. But only God can help to forgive and he will bring you through.
Today I am remarried because the Lord has blessed me with a loving husband and my beautiful son now has grown up and is a fine son and we all serve the Lord who promises to take care of us.
I 💘 this song it has a very inspiring message we are to take hold of God's hands abd never let go even when life gets rough
I can relate to that. My life is rough right now. My wife of 45 years passed away in January. But, with God by my side I am indeed "holding on."
A lot to be gained when we hold on to Jesus
In deed. And even more to loose. An eternity where we're forced to smile at the cost of any chance to see those we care about the most because our So called Messiah failed to save them. Maybe you don't see it quite that way but can you honestly tell me that this war hasn't broken you since the day God woke you up to it? irrespective of what side we're on we're going to loose someone close to us. Accept the christians actually know it. Some are better equipped to endure it than others. I can try to serve God my whole life and God would be forced to condemn me because I can't heal and pain isn't allowed in heaven.
First heard this song while working at a Catholic children's home. One of the girls found a lot of comfort in this.
Theresa I can sure see why someone would love this song. What I don't understand is why I never hear this on the radio. I think it would be a smashing success. You might want to listen to a Ranger Bill episode called Eddie and Mr. Foxy. It is really moving. Then, immediately listen to this song again. It might really bring tears to your eyes.
Amen..... I will always holding to Jesus....
Hold on to Jesus, I did. Thank You Jesus
Now the video by Bob Marshall attracts me as much as the singer . when I find a new song by a singer I like And note that Bob has made the video I watch with happy anticipation because his videos underline the message so well. There are some awful videos out there too fast and jerky but these are calm just what I need fr my quiet time and evenings . Thank you Bob
Thank you for the kind words, Katharine. Yes, I do try to underline the message of the song. I think too many times we listen to a song from a purely sonic perspective and we don't really think about the words. When I make these videos I print out the lyrics, listen to the song as I look at the lyrics, make notes about what I envision when I listen to a lyrics, then go on the internet to an image to match that vision. I also usually like to superimpose the lyrics because I think that also enhances the message of the song. I also like to keep it simple; I don't use a lot of special effects, like zooming and panning and swirling. I think those are a distraction. I prefer for the music and the images and the lyrics to speak for themselves.
Amen.. just a great song :)
hOld on to Jesus 'till He comes :)
God bless~
Thank Jesus
Bob, liked all your photos, especially 3 rope photos 'holding on by a thread'.
It is hard for me to 'hold on' to something I don't or can't feel. When I 'hold
on' to something I can feel, it either slips away or becomes embedded in
my mind. Enjoyed your video & Twila's gentle voice, & the soothing music.
Love This Song!
SO MUCH LOVE!
Fantastic song! I can almost play the whole song on the guitar. This song should be on the radio. It would help countless numbers of people.
Amen!
Linda canção..amei
