I watched Nat Geo channel often for Meerkat Manor back then. Half the time the ads were about Steve Irwin and Bindi's shows. So sad to hear that he died, but getting reminded of it now.... wow its been almost two decades and his kids grew up, time flies

Unfortunately Steve Irwin broke the universally accepted rule that those of us who worked with wild animals understood. Don't underestimate or take for granted an animal in the wild.

I live in the York region, north of Toronto and we have signs in the parks for coyotes. It’s scary and especially in winter ppl are warned to keep an eye out when walking their small dogs.

I thought Steve Irwin was playing with death every time he filmed an episode. The only surprising part of his too-young passing was which creature actually took him out. It was very sad, but not surprising.

All of which left him with permanent impairment to his motor and verbal skills. He also suffered a stroke although it is not known whether that occurred before or after Mantacore dragged him offstage.
The fact that the last thing that Roy said before losing consciousness was "don't shoot the cat" shows just how much he loved them and didn't blame the cat for what happened. Which is a common thing in all these videos, it's always those who weren't attacked that are screaming for the animal to be hunted down and killed and its the people that were attacked that are the first to say don't kill the animal bc it was just doing what it was made to do and they were the ones that were trespassing into the animals homes.
I worked for an Exhibit Company named The Hughes Group, and we had The Discovery Channel contract since their Corporate Office (The Main One at the time) were actually right around the corner from our offices in Silver Spring MD. Remember this was the late 1990's through 2008. We had one of their exhibits heading up to Mass., and they wanted to bring in Steve Irwin, but Steve wanted a private plane to fly him into the show. The costs were quite extreme, so we ended up Getting Jeff Corwin to attend the show/conference. Naturally allot of our people were upset at Irwin's money grab, but I had always respected Mr. Irwin, and to this day actually have even more respect for him.... RIP Steve!!!!!
It seems nice and wonderful to treat wild animals as a family member but family members could freak out too... You can't take it for granted that animals would always be nice and calm they are still wild and you never know how they will act... If you stay in their territories every second something unexpected could happen... If you want to be save stay in your surroundings...

Sadly this happens a lot where humans are killed by animals and then the animals are hunted down and killed. In a way i feel sad for their deaths, but then the ones where they are in the woods or whatnot run a really high risk of running into those types of animals and sadly, if the animal attacked/killed them, they are hunted down and killed as safety precautions for others. Wild animals are wild animals. As much as I love to see documentary's, it's not worth it risking your life for it. Can't imagine the pain they were in when they were attacked. The animals actually didn't do anything wrong. It's their instinct. It's ok to love wild animals but never forget that.

We live in NH, my husband loves to hike, he was walking on a well traveled road within a mile from the house-he something in the road, and realized it was a black bear! He waited, made himself look 'big', and got home as soon as possible. From that time, he carries pepper spray in case, his cell and a picks up a stick to take with him.

See there is something you're missing about the stingray that nailed Steve Irwin in the chest and it's the fact that the stingrays have a toxin on their stingers. And it can do a lot of damage it is very short amount of time. That's what was also pumping through his body not just the fact he got nailed in the chest by a stingray but the toxins that were on the stingrays stinger. There's a lot of toxin on that in fact. And that did a lot of damage. Not just him getting hit in the chest. But the toxins in general that are on the stingray stinger.

I was so devastated with Steve Irwin died. I was in the 10th grade and grew up watching the guy. Always thought he was crazy but somehow invincible until his death. I never actually knew the details of his death. I knew he was stung in the heart by a sting ray but I didn’t know all the other details.
Steve Irwin wasn't "brutally" attacked by the sting ray, it was an accident. At least he died doing what he loved and I think wanted to go that way. But it would've been nice to see him reture and be with his family till the end 😢
I collected every DVD 📀 that Steve Irwin ever filmed 🎥 of His TV 📺 series. I went into a deep state of sadness over the death of Him. I worked with the public, and they knew the fondness that I had for Him, and they gave me their condolences 🙏 ☹️ as if I were part of His family. RIP 🙏 🪦
Siegfried was always taking photos with this animal ...kissing it in the face like a predator. He used the animal for his own depraved satisfaction. I was so devastated with Steve Irwin died. I was in the 10th grade and grew up watching the guy. Always thought he was crazy but somehow invincible until his death. I never actually knew the details of his death. I knew he was stung in the heart by a sting ray but I didn’t know all the other details.
Steve Irwin wasn't "brutally" attacked by the sting ray, it was an accident. At least he died doing what he loved and I think wanted to go that way. But it would've been nice to see him reture and be with his family till the end 😢
I collected every DVD 📀 that Steve Irwin ever filmed 🎥 of His TV 📺 series.
I went into a deep state of sadness over the death of Him. I worked with the public, and they knew the fondness that I had for Him, and they gave me their condolences 🙏 ☹️ as if I were part of His family. RIP 🙏 🪦

Siegfried was always taking photos with this animal ...kissing it in the face like a predator. He used the animal for his own depraved satisfaction. I'm just not surprised by what happened to him in the end. When you think you're so fabulous and special that you can subjugate an extremely wild animal like this....bad things are likely to happen.
Regarding Steve Irwin, that's NOT what I heard AT ALL! I remember it like it happened yesterday. Steve was not aware of the ray at all. He was filming other things.
