My dude...THANK YOU for playing Chapter II and for your dramatic in-character lore narration and for your feedback at the end.
Good luck with making future works like this. The graphic art style are fantastically done.
THANK YOU for making this wonderful game!
Nice touch with the 'Satin lives' graffiti, I chuckled
I love this series, and I'm excited to see where the story goes next. My favourite part is definitely how unclear it is whether or not what's happening is actually happening, or if it's a really bad mental health episode the main character is having.
Edit: Also, maybe I'm slow, but I just realised that the thing you confess to in the confession booth is the same hidden enemy from the last game in the mirror. And whenever you beat it, you get medical notes... and it wants children... interesting.

I love the disconnect between the atari style graphics, the slow movements, and then the high framerate cutscenes of something horrific. It really brings the feeling of something being unnatural and unholy in the world.
But having alot of rooms and/or 60 framerated cutscenes won't make into a real atari hardware due to "hardware limitation"
Natnat Gaming101 hence why it isnt on atari
@@NatnatGaming101 That's why they emphasized the disconnect between Atari graphics and the fluid animation curscenes making it so unnerving and effective in making the game horrific...
AGREED.

I think that running animation for Garcia is supposed to hint at him being that weird gray guy from the first game who's just there, which also helps explain why shooting him gets you the father and son ending
OH SHIT!! I was wondering who that gray guy was from the first and why gave you the father and son ending, great call back from the beginning!! Thank you that makes so much sense!!
I’m still confused. Who was Michael’s father? John?
@@vincentmorales7257 No, it has nothing to do with ACTUAL parental father. Priests are often called Father, and Garcia is John's superior. So John, the "son" priest, can shoot Father Garcia in the first game.

I really like how they managed to make a priest a decent protagonist in a horror game.
It should be a thing done more often. Say what you will about Catholics, that priest get up is aesthetic as fuck.
And the whole Priest-Demon relationship is really underused in horror.
@@SadenIsWatchin
yeah, too bad they always lose in exorcism in movie lol. Its illogical for someone dealing with this shit failed everytime
I know, right? It's so boring that a lot of them are antagonists in media.
Right!! I swear in every game that involves religion it's like *PRIEST BAD* . Don't get me wrong, I do love games like that but it's so tiring to know once you see a priest is in a game he's going to be the villain or at least on the antagonists side
@@SadenIsWatchin "Underused in horror"

Initiation Ending made so much more sense when I read Gary's letter again...
"You must first summon his demon," drawing the pentagram with the blood from your eye.
"You must then serve his demon," bringing the lost child from the cornfield into the confession booth.
"You must then walk among the children of men as his demon," killing the couple on the bridge in the spider demon body.
Absolutely. Gary ran the abortion clinic where Amy volunteered and he owned the building that Lisa rented in chapter 3. He intentionally pulls strings to bring in the "vessels" if he decides they're suitable for the ritual.
How do you make a pentagram with the blood of your eye, and not die in the process
@@jadebayoba7073 when your mirror reflection stabs your eye with the key in the Save tomb, you leave the graveyard and walk to the circle of stones. Then you draw the pentagram the way the note suggests, from the top left and down. A miniboss appears, and it leaves a note detailing John's admission to the psychiatric ward.
@@evanna23 but you did he not die, like, if you stab your eye and Rip it off you die instantly, the eye is the connection of the brain

Fun fact: That screaming coming from the demon nun is from an actual exorcism, just rendered in square waves.
Fact: exorcisms are a form of social hysteria and when priests play along with it they make the delusions worse.
【Chucklebutt】 ʘ‿ʘ yeah, a lot of the times they were (and are, in some countries) performed when a child or person is showing “abnormal behavior” this ranging from mental illness to sexuality and identify. Fetus Demon (northeast in the graveyard): “I’m an angel...” “VIOLATOR!”
Cultist Demon (fog maze in the graveyard): “Welcome, Zealot!” “I’ll see you again...”
Wild Demon(?) (secret fight): “Pandemonium Regnat...” (Found it on the wiki, but it was difficult to hear with the sound effect that came on when the pentagram was completed. Turns out it is speaking.)
Stalker Demon (cornfield in the demo): “Burn in Hell!” “Swear by his throne...” “Destroy the child!” “Thy faith is weak.” “Reap what you sow...” “We KNOW what you did.”
“Spindly Lady” (wandering the church): ”Thralls will slash!” (Again, found on the wiki) “HERETIC...!”
Chalice Demon (room in the church exclusive to the demo): “Won’t you listen to me...?” or “Come and listen to me...” (Not sure about this one either, I definitely hear “listen to me” but hey, I might be wrong)
Mad Demon (secret fight): “YOU WILL DIE PRIEST!!” or “WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?!” (It might just be static but it sounds like it’s trying to say one of these things in it’s intro and death quote, Airdorf please clarify)
Blind Demon (Candy Tunnel after the room with the “If you see it, DON’T MOVE” message, various rooms in Chapter 3 demo): “Mother...?” “YOU WHORE!!!” “You belong to her...” (Threw in his attack/hurt quote and death quote from Chapter 3’s demo, for completion)
Candy Tunnel Demon (basement of the church in the demo, dark room in the Candy Tunnel in the full game): “Will you bless the earth?” “Too weak, priest.” “Here I come!” “Hah, you can’t catch me!” “Suffer the children/Suffer for what you did/Suffer now, children.” (Not sure bout this one. Any takers?) “I’m here, priest.” “You can’t have them!” “They’re mine, forever...”
“Miriam Bell” (appears at the end of the demo, final boss of the full game): “Here I am.” “My little one...” (The rest of her quotes are just screaming, but one of them sounds like she’s yelling “DIE NOW!!!”)
If anyone wants to put down their own suggestions on some of the ones I’m not sure about, feel free, especially if Airdorf himself wants to give an official reveal.

@@alexandriadiangelo6037 Well, glass bulbs of holy water to throw and blessing the water in the sprinkler system to become holy, but yeah.
So the inconsistencies on what you did to the girl (abandoning her or killing her) are deliberate, including whether or not it actually happened or if you hallucinated the whole thing (or if the cult is making you hallucinate to try and break you with doubt). I am confused a bit on the exact timeline of the deaths of the girls parents.
I watched this video right after watching the previous one, and although I can't say with complete certainty that I'm remembering it right, but wasn't it the girls' parents who were there in the house with John and the other priest when they were exorcising the girl? Because the notes in the graveyard make it seem like the girl's parents died first and she got adopted, and the step-mother was the one who introduced her to the cult. Anyone with a clearer grasp on the details mind elucidating things for me?
I've noticed the usage of mother/motherhood in this game in reference to the head demon:
- if it was her stepmother that would be consistent with what happened to the little boy whose grandfather died, after which his stepmother brought him to the cultist
- One of the cultist/people who got sacrificed wrote about how she had a baby and lost it but the girl who was always smiling at her (implied to be a cultist) was pregnant as soon as she lost her baby. Also the demon you have to kill to get her letter is a fetus.
- Amy worked in an abortion clinic. This might also be why "mother" choose her
- There is the demon in the church that tells us to bring the child and follows us around, she was the head of an orphanage which could be seen as a motherly figure.
- The head demon we fight at the end at the end takes the form of a nun. Senior nuns are called "Mother"
- @29:14 written in blood it says "Mother of Demons"
My guess is this mother of demons gains people's trusts so she can use them as hosts for her children and rituals.
Doesnt the girl met the cult while working at the abortion clinic? One of Gary's letters to her reference that her parents forced her to stop volunteering there, but Gary insists that she still come over for a "meeting". I think they convince her to become some kind of cult sacrifice and that is how she becomes possessed. I think the doll is just a red herring.
I think the note about the stepmother was written by one of the people you "kill" in the cemetery.
The general story of the Martin family from what I've gathered is that while Bob the dad is off stationed somewhere in the middle east, Amy starts volunteering in an abortion clinic (possibly due to cabin fever from being homeschooled) where she meets Gary and gets indoctrinated.
After her mom Cindy forces her to stop working there, she begins to get sick like Michael does at the start of chapter 2. Members of the cult start appearing around the house around that time as well, killing deer and infiltrating Nate and Jason's birthday party.
Eventually Amy's condition gets so bad that they call in Allred and John to perform an exorcism on her, which unsurprisingly goes pear shaped. Allred gets knocked unconscious while John leads the rest of the family away, forcing him to continue by himself in the attic. For some reason or another, he's driven away in fear and Amy kills Allred and the parents. Both Amy and John are put into a mental institution for their role in the deaths, with John being released and Amy escaping.
A year after the botched exorcism, the events of chapter 1 occur, ending either with John killing Amy and getting arrested, or killing Michael and escaping. In between chapters 1 and 2, John's wife leaves him saying she "can't take this anymore", possibly implying the former given thats one of the only letters in the chapter that we know is entirely true.
Although chapter 1 seems to have had multiple possible canon endings, I think ending 3 of chapter 2 is non-canon given that it suggests that Garcia didn't contact John, and just serves as a more serious "bad" ending. That being said, all endings could be accounted for if chapter 3 is released as dlc to 2 as Manly predicted. Otherwise, the plot of chapter 3 seems to be a race to find the Martin twins before they're found by the cultists.
@@mje3070 My only point of contention with your assessment is that Catholic priests are not allowed to be married. So the marriage, if it was actually marriage, would have to have ended before he was a priest. And since the Catholic church also does not recognize divorce, it's more likely that it was some less formal type of relationship. It's possible John and Karen were lovers before he joined the priesthood, and his choice to follow his faith over love is one of the many things that torments him. It's also possible that he and Karen remained close after his official ordination, and that Karen found she could no longer deal with his increasingly tortured soul after the events of the botched exorcism and Chapter 1.
@@nightsong81 You raise a very valid point, hadn't considered Catholic traditions. I'd have to agree with your last point in that case, since John does write to her before the events of chapter 1 detailing what he's about to do. Another possibility could be that the notes are unreliable and Karen and John went their separate ways long before the events of the series took place since the idea of the notes being unreliable has been floated before, though I doubt that theory unless their relationship gets touched on in the future
John has a fear of clowns according to the psychiatrist...And in the Faith games there's tons of references to clowns, such as you being able to find clown noses on both of them and also a birthday card with a creepy clown on the first game. This is looking to be one of those "he was insane all along" kind of stories. That must be why the game is called "Faith", as in, John having faith in his delusions. Taking a psychological horror approach makes it more fascinating, in my opinion.

This couldn’t have come at a better time! I had just rewatched the other two Faith videos yesterday.
I have to say, the sound design in this game is *amazing*. There were several points where I was actually, genuinely afraid due to the sound, and that doesn’t happen to me much with games. Airdorf did an amazing job with the atmosphere as well; especially in the sewer tunnels. Something about the jarring green of the spray paint unnerved me a lot, even before the demonic symbols started appearing. Oh, and the letter that built upon itself with what I think are either John’s internal thoughts (if he truly is delusional) or the spirit of Amy back to haunt him (if all this wasn’t a dream)
I’m glad we got some explanation for the white demon in the first game, but it has me wondering: is Father Garcia the missionary that Amy was sending letters to in the first game? Or is he a different priest entirely?
I also noticed that all the important areas in the game were on or around Snake Meadow Hill Road. Serpents are always a symbol of evil and deception in the Bible, so maybe Snake Meadow is a demon’s playground, haha- it’s a shame about what happened to the Martin parents. I feel like there’s some implication that they died before Amy became possessed and so she turned to a cult to get them back and subsequently became a demon herself; but I’m not so sure. And as for the twin children that I assume are the same kids from the demo; are they the Martin boys? I have my suspicions.
All in all, this was an amazing sequel, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the options on the menu :0

See.. that's **EXACTLY** my thought when Manly read that letter and said they were survived by Amy and the twins! From the first game THEY DEFINITELY SAID THEY WERE THERE!!! John had to forcibly remove the parents upstairs because the demon was feeding off the fear the mother was feeling! (I'm binge watching the series, so I just got done watching it before this one) And who was it that lost their grandfather???
I'm startled by sudden sounds so everytime a demon fight would happen, guess whose heart went through the roof?

I like how after the 2 am screen your character changes color from grey to blue. Nice little hint that you swapped from Garcia to John. I do wonder who it was that Michael killed, and how much of the story is dream and reality. Certain notes seem to develop the story of Amy, Michael, plus John and Garcia's battle with the cult, but others seem to be just for the set pieces or to continue the John is actually crazy ending from Faith 1.

I'll have to wait for Chapter 3 in order to fully understand what's happening. I understood the first game, but this second chapter is giving me an Empire Strikes Back cliffhanger that I can't predict.
Basically, there are three endings: good, bad, and in-betweeen. Good ending stems from the true ending of the first game where you shoot the white demon. Amy is abandoned, and John is haunted by it. However, he still tries to do the right thing, in spite of the world trying to convince him he’s insane. He saves Garcia and keeps his faith strong to brace himself for the cultists’ attack.
In the in-between ending, John has killed Amy and been arrested and sent to mental therapy. His therapist most likely shook his faith and made him think he was insane.
In the bad ending, John sacrifices Amy to bring the cultists’ demon early. He is now one of them.
The only thing that seems questionable is whether John is correct in keeping faith or not. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying the priests are evil and tortured Michael, but I don’t think even a tortured child would attack an innocent person and eat them or speak Spanish or Latin spontaneously. It definitely seems like he could be insane, but consider that the premise of the game is to have faith. If it is revealed that it’s just delusions it would make the whole story meaningless. Also, consider how many normal-seeming townspeople were cultist, his doctor could have easily been one.

1:38 best voice lines in my opinion, it gives me spooky happy chills
Every time Manly said "Begone!" I kept thinking of Jontron going "OUTTA THIS HOUSE!"
I just think of Castlevania's "Die, monster!"
"OUT DEMON" - Markiplier.
I like how the existence of the running animation at the beginning implies that while fighting demons, you are just casually walking around.
When the priest started to melt was freaky. (33:15)
john popsicle moment
35:08
Me: all star
Manly: allistor
Me: oh ok
3:09 "I have the body of a pig"
Hey isn't that a reference to an old video about paranormal activity?
Ghost or something said that, I don't remember for sure. I need to re-watch it.
UPD: So yeah, I think thats a reference, or how you always say... a seeeeecreet.
It is! They had that in the first game too. They also reuse the "CHAOS REIGNS" audio bit from the first one, where a dead fox says that to you referencing Anti Christ
Also a reference to the old testament!
I love how Markiplier's editors decided to put music over Father Garcia's shuffling and it was hilarious, but I also love when something makes Manly laugh. Simpler but just as good of a reaction 😂
oh yea XD that was so funny and fit well
15:13 "You know I think these demons need to re evaluate things, maybe get some guns" ID Software & Bethesda: "We can arrange that"
uuuh interesting, the first set of 3 demons was
the mother (the woman who lost their child)
the daughter (the girl who last their grandfather)
and the unclean spirit (the man who suffered abuse)
and in chapter 3 they also talk about the mother, the daughter and unclean spirit when refring to the unholy trinity
at the clinic the woman with the demon infants
tiffany who claims to be the daughter of the unspeakable
and john whose trauma from the psychiatric treatment manifested into a demon refered to as unclean spirit
honestly a super cool detail
I love how I went through the boss fight like 12 times to keep García alive and when I finally beat her and kept him alive the game just went “Nah fuck you” and gave me the Road to Redemption ending anyway.
Faith and Chapter II are weird games for me. I've never been a big fan of the retro style like this, but Jesus Christ (pun intended) do I love these games. I'm glad that you posted the full playthrough and the endings!!! Your voice is nice to listen to!
Little kid runs away screaming "You're a bad man!" when he realizes you're a priest.
Smart kid.
3:37 the upside down one is the pentagram, the one with the point facing up is the pentacle, which is a symbol of protection.
I love the animation it’s so fluid and still creepy
Whatever it is, I really hope it doesn't end like [spoiler A]. You know what I mean. I have never really liked that style of ending, it just undermines everything. There was one game where it worked, but it was due to the very mechanics of the monsters and the interactions the player had being able to elude to it. In the case of this and [spoiler A], a world has been introduced that would work in and of itself without any sort of meta/psychological explanation.
Spoilers under the Read More.
Spoiler A is Stories Untold, where it is revealed you are just a patient with brain damage. The game itself leading up to being a drunk driving PSA. I feel this reveal undermined, and almost completely nullified any lasting emotional impact the game had. IMHO, you may differ.
The game where that kind of ending worked was Cry of Fear. It's monster and level design deliberately eluded to the likeness of worlds inside the mind of a troubled man. The world of CoF works because it exists to torment the MC, and would fail outside that context.
I doubt it is. I think the second ending is the true ending. He wouldn't be followed by the cult if they were just dreams and hallucinations The demons shows that they can causes delusions that feel very real with the mirror so I do think that they definitely are messing with him but I think they want John to think they're just nightmares
3:20 (Priest waddles away) Amazing~
5:20 Manly suspects tree 16:15 Man, Manly's good at this guessing game of what's evil.

46:19 Oh hey, it's the waddling priest from before. XD
LOL. Carrot cake can be pretty tasty!
26:42 HERETIC!
i missed faith.

I messaged Airdorf for the faith III Enjoy the new Faith :3
38:07 The guy walks up to John, gives him a look, and decides "Yeah, fuck this I'm outta here."
I don't know why, but I'm really into horror with religious or folklore-ish themes. F A I✝H and Pamali are two games that I really like because of that. I'm not into the whole Conjuring thing, but The Nun was kinda neat if you watched it without prior knowledge it was an installment to the Conjuring films.
Also, this game is an excellent example of how the lack of detail can really add to a game's atmosphere. I like it.
Outlast II sucked, however.
Check out Kuon. Not to be confused with Ju-On: The Grudge
I liked Outlast II when I watched someone else play it. The whole, "Your character is going insane and half the stuff going on isn't happening. Also, your flashbacks may or may not be accurate." angle was pretty cool
People who were afraid of crosses are not demons
Those are just some school dropout kids whose afraid of maths
1:06:34 "I GONNA NEED A BIGGER CROSS"
I really love the aesthetic, music and synthesized voice from this game ❤️️
I loved that you went through all endings! Appreciate it!
FAITH is such a good little series. Love the Atari-esque graphics and bitcrushed sound.
*Pandaemonium Regnant Satani Vitae*
My Latin is a bit rusty but that means "Chaos Reigns, Satan Lives" right?
I think it means something close to that. I know “Pandaemonium Regnat”’s meaning can be different, but considering that the rest of the Latin is largely accurate, Airdorf probably chose that of all things on purpose
Sounds like Pandemonic Reigns, Satan Lives

Okay, I came here after watching Mark play this and wanting to see the other endings. I remember seeing your name and at least one of your videos yeeeeeaaaars ago, but this is what made me subscribe. Good job and great voice
_MBH best exorcist_
_Be gone!_ I enjoyed the different endings & lore of the priest's inner struggle & guilt over the children & him either being successful in battling that ultimate evil boss or becoming a demon himself. Pandemonium regnat indeed.
The notes while well-written were a bit long & I think that final battle looked a little tedious & repetitive. I'm happy to see you do your usual wonderful job in getting all endings to give us the full story.
I didn't know you were still around NFGamer! I dont see you around Johns videos much.
+Sadayo Kawakami X Ren Amamiya Sometimes I am a day or so late & I don't comment quite as much - but I still watch him & laugh because he gets so crabby (harshly critical indeed) with games. :D
These games are so damn perfect in a terrifyingly loveable way

When Micheal first gets free you can go back into your room and enter the closet.

God damnit Karen what else can you take from him?!? You already got the kids!!
I'll be honest, I'm here because I want to watch Faith III and entirely forgot what happened in this one.
Sameeee. Kinda still confused tho
This game takes creepy on a different level... AND I LOVE IT!!!
When you spawn in the bedroom in the beginning and then come back when the demon escapes you can see the closet open
1:48 Micheal: CaN I SeE MoMmY AnD dAdDY?
Manly: No. You're evil.
Dont know why i found that really amusing 😂
52:52 Malphas? That's their demon of "unspeakable power"? Isn't he basically just a hellish construction worker?! XD
I mean, it depends on who you ask.
Some say that he is second on charge in hell.
Jus let making some connections in the first game it was mentioned that Amy worked for the clinic before she was possessed the same clinic that John is admitted to after killing Amy.
So either John is insane or the clinic is behind everything...
Or both
I don't think John is insane, but the demons and the cult definitely are causing him to have delusions. I think the Road to Recovery ending is probably the most genuine. We are shown he is being closely monitored by the cult (if it were a delusion John would have noticed it) and unlike the Go In Good Faith Ending he doesn't chalk it up to just a dream. What I'd like to know is why does John need to kill the priest to get this ending and where that priest came from??
Amy worked at an abortion clinic by the way
30:31 "stabbed multiple times, beheaded and then killed"
wait something ain't right here
I love your playthroughs of this game and really appreciate how you aren't overly/weirdly goofy in a game with a serious tone. A lot of other let's plays want to make everything funny and it ruins everything the game is trying to build up. Your voice as well is soothing
I think there's still more than plenty the devs could do with a third installment. At the game's core, it's basically just a top down aim-n-shoot. There's plenty of creative ways that enemy encounters could be mixed up for this.
Alternatively, they could add a new mechanic in the final installment. Not sure what it would be, but it would have to be tempered with not gamifying the experience, or detracting from the disempowerment of the character through the fact that basically the only thing standing between you and a grisly death at the hands of an incomprehensible monster is that said monster is a god-fearing individual.
Maybe something with the flashlight. Turning it on and off. Revealing secrets, or revealing and repelling monsters. Surely that could be taken somewhere...
2:48 the closet is now open. If you go in, there's a red thing you can pick up dubbed "nasus" in the menu/inventory. (Not visible, only a sound cue) Don't know if it does anything, but worth investigating!
