So pretty she was
Sony Music TV!!
I hate these interviews from around this time when she had such high expectations for her 3rd album and her music career just dived. She was so talented, and still is, it's a shame pop music is such a fickle business (ie the public moving onto the next hot thing so quickly). Still love this album to death, the lead single is one of her best songs I think.
Her strength, conviction and determination in these interviews are some of the most important of her career - IMO. AIP didn't get a fair shake at that time in the industry bc of the tides that were changing. I think her point to everything is... It doesn't matter what forces are going on around you - the odds - the fads - the trends - the nay sayers - the statistics... What truly matters is how much you believe in yourself. Success is measured by your purpose. She was aligned with her soul's purpose and it was authentic for that time and place in her existence. She did what was right for her - and I believe it helped millions bc at that time she had that reach. Speaking personally...I know she helped me. Popularity, fame, and being the "it" thing are hard to make real. They are even harder to hold onto. But if the core of you holds onto a positive belief system, and you can influence others to achieve -- a recording artist has done their job. I believe she has done hers. And she did the right thing by staying true to herself - always.
They should have released Deep Down. That was the BEST pop song on the cd. It was featured on 90210 TWICE. Dunno what happened.
I say this album could have gone MUCH better...but again I blame Atlantic Records for the way it went
I'm 11 years late but what did Atlantic Records do?
@@sv52308 I hear reports about them being shady af, but if I had to take a lucky guess, id say its because lack of promotion, even when Debbie pushed the promotion as hard as she could with these interviews, I guess it just was never good enough. I like the Anything is Possible album btw
Agreed Debfan I tihnk AIP was a great albuM! Pity it didnt do so well
@ReLoaDeDBoi76 I'm still shocked the first single didn't do as well as I think it should have. when I first heard it on the radio I thought "smash hit - she's gonna go to the next level" but the single didn't take off and the album died with it :-(
Old post, I know, but since you were there at the time, why do you think it wasn't well-received by the public? You couldn't accuse her of living in the past, she matured appropriately for a third album by an artist at the age of, what, 20?
