I was a huge Velma main in the beta, I have well over 500 wins with her. She was admittedly VERY strong so I understand the devs tweaking her, but they nerfed her so hard that it was honestly overkill. Without exaggeration I haven't seen ONE SINGLE Velma since the game relaunched.
That’s what happens when you have a community of crybabies who cry because they can’t beat a certain character
The same thing happened to T&J in the open beta. Lots of people complained about them and the devs decided to nerf all of T&J’s useful moves as well as their best unique perk. People tend to have trouble with projectile/disjoint characters even if they are easily countered when you know how to counter them. It’s more annoying now though because parrying makes it even easier to counter the projectile archetypes. Honestly this nerf might be even worse than any nerf to happen in the beta.
istg i tried SO HARD to make her work and have wasted like half of my perk currency on her, shes just so different then how i remember her as a diehard velma back in beta. Just feels so clunky to use now and its kinda hard to even play the game with other characters cuz literally I ONLY played vels back in the beta

They nerfed her. So now I only play as her against bots for the most part. It’s hard for me to kill other players with Velma now.
Bruh only thing that's kills is her side special fully charges and that's only if you run into the other opponent while running with the other

I know what you mean and it's just a visual bug. She does count as a detective. When you select her in the character select screen the detective tag will reappear for her.

@@jpgrandpa I try to show up but there's better feeling characters than taz. Like I was a WW, and taz main with Garnet as an off pick that I'm good at but I'm not locking in on Garnet .
Wonder woman feels weird and just isn't as good as she was in beta making it where I'm almost incentivized to not play her.
They buffed taz in areas that don't matter to his base play style making it dreadful to play.
And Garnet feels terrible; some moves that should have super armor doesn't, stopping me inputting the move and decreasing gauntlet movement without adding a perk to give the option back to the game.
I have never seen a character get nerfed so hard in a game before, Like OH MY GOD.😨

I actually like her new microphone, but the minimum range should be a little longer, and her maximum range should be a bit longer too. Plus allowing us the tilt the direction of the attack. They should make the book work differently in 1v1 the cooldown is so long. Plus all her attacks have so much recovery frames.

I'm in disbelief at how badly Velma was hit. Not only is she just bad now, she doesn't even have an identity anymore. There's nothing she does that other mages don't do better, and almost everything unique she has is just bad now.
Morty, who is a lot harder to play, is at least really strong for players who put that effort in.
The one upside is PFG at least generally takes feedback and fixes issues, so it's at least not a matter of if, but when for when Velma gets fixed. I just hope they make her more unique again, and not just a worse version of other mages.
I used to play Velma a fair amount in the beta as well, though I mostly mained Jake and Morty.
And would you believe it they’ve been gutted and nerfed a ton too. Which just really feels weird because even if someone like Jake was considered one of the best characters back then, it’s not like every high tier character was disrespected in the same way.
Shaggy’s Side-B does like 20 damage uncharged and a ridiculous amount of knockback considering how easy it is to throw out in matches. Also Wonder Woman and Harley despite losing a couple combos due to the slower speed of the game, still got a lot of love in the full release and have some excellent kill options.
To dash attack you just need to double tap the direction you want to dash attack, so just flick 2 times to the right or left on analog or click a or d twice and then normal attack
Not true you hold forward after a second to get a dash attack

@@maxibon7750 His concern was dash attacking on accident when going for a forward light/ tilt. To remedy this, all you need to do is quickly flick your control stick in the opposite direction before inputting the foward tilt - this way you won't output a dash attack, similar to what you would do in smash (In smash you would just dash cancel forward tilt but same concept)
She was my main during the beta. Now I won't even touch her, unless a challenge calls for it.

Just now found another perk. Her boosted jump is really fast. Like probably the fastest since she dodges so far. It's like she's only good for hard reads and nothing else

Like, I was helping out with a Mugen full game (a Touhou one). And while testing, I beat one of the devs with a move that punishes projectile spam.... And even knowing this, they spammed projectiles.... Next day, they neutered the move I used to win. And went crazy adding more and more nerfs. Trying to legit kill the character (like Velma here.)
This shouldn't happen anyway. But ESPECIALLY not in a super high budget game like this one....

At least on the bright side in my story was, another dev got fed up with all the senseless nerfs. And just reworked the character to be more fun to play as, and against.

I hope they don’t nerf characters to Velma’s level. Hopefully they use Wonderwoman or another S Tier, use it as a standard and buff the unfortunates to that level. As a Reindog main, we aren’t struggling this bad, but still bottom tier as well. Little to no confirm combos, everything you get is just a big brain move. Meanwhile even decent characters like Jason can mash into ghostwalk kills.

The first guy probably desynced. When me and my friends were play duos earlier when one of us desynced it forced that person's character to keep running off the map

I play velma as of rn I have no losses on her 3 people have rage quit back 2 back one of them just instakilled himself before the fight even started (im assuming because of the 1,200 wins badge)

Velma was my girl on the Beta. She was my go to character. In this version of the game, I think I played her like twice on a 2v2 pvp matches, and I did not like her at all. She is very slow, meanwhile other characters like Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry have so many gadgets flying all over the stage. That used to be Velma, and now, she plays completely different, and I am not a fan of her gameplay anymore. I also noticed that my Hawaiian skin for her is locked when I bought her skin during the Beta, not only her, but also a few other character skins.
Fr would turn off the default way to dash attack. I literally only double press forward, normal to do dash attacks. Getting a dash attack when ur approaching to try normal is annoying
The fact that they nerfed have r to this degree and Broccoli gs didn't get anywhere near this level of nerfs is insane

Which is probably why i don't see jake much either. Being able to cover the whole screen with projectiles and limbs was just frustrating to get around.
Since the game is slower i see why they nerfed her so much. At such a slower pace it would be insanely difficult to get around her speech bubbles and other moves.
I've seen jake like 3 times, but not 1 velma.
Also some of the nerfs seem more apart of the universal changes that made everyone slower. As before you were still capable of getting around her moves, but you couldn't dodge the speech bubbles and it was a guaranteed kill if you got caught.
Oh well... I'm glad. I was sick of seeing Velma + Jake/Buggs/Taz that would cover the whole stage with moves that you'd either trade with or simply lost to.

I played only one Velma in 2s and she was actually cracked. Meaning great players will adapt to any nerf and make a character good. Most noobs aim for the easiest character
