    Wear them snow boarding to keep a tree limb from driving through your lungs. Off roading to keep a tree limb from driving through the windshield and piercing your heart. During turkey shoots/IDPA events. Natural disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes to keep shrapnel of exploding trees from lodging in to your vital organs. There are plenty of reasons outside of the tactical world which may require the use of a ballistic plate carrier. Plates need to be as accepted as eye and ear protection when shooting as well.

    I wear my level III armor when hunting on public land. I've personally had a few instances of a round going whizzing past me while I was out hunting because:
    1) Some boners mix alcohol with firearms while hunting.
    2) Some hunters do "brush shots" shooting just at movement in a bush without verifying a target.
    3) A few "hunters" have been known to get their "kills" by taking them from other hunters that actually made the shot by threat of force.

    This is some of the best information I've seen that will help those without backgrounds in wearing armor and in many cases even those with because very few wear this style.

    AR500-
    The side straps on John's carrier are much better ergonomically than Glenn's. It is easier to tighten them from back to front. I am a lean guy and cannot easily tighten the straps from front to back. Please consider changing or giving the option on your carriers to have the straps oriented to a person's preference. That would mean a lot to me and other people as well I am sure. My physical build is very custom and often I have to modify gear to suit my body better.
    Please consider this input and feedback from a customer and end-user's point of view. You guys are doing awesome and this additional option would be even more icing on the cake.

    For home defense and/or the military, you hang everything you need on your "alert chair," so you can quickly put your uniform, shoes or boots (while sitting down) and your equipment on. If you do not have an "alert chair," use a regular chair or you can build one specifically designed for your needs.

    To JD Glock he was using ap rounds from a longer barrel is why it punched through. That's steel vs steel, and speed matters at that point. Level three plates will stop 556, even those ap rounds, from a standard barrel.

    I just saw two videos - one from "The Wound Channel" showing 5.56 NATO M193 passing through AR-500 plate Level III Rifle Protection.
    What level is required to stop 5.56 NATO? I copied and pasted his reply to my question in this post. Thanks!!
    The Wound Channel
    You are incorrect. Level III armor is rated to stop 7.62 NATO M80 Ball ammunition @ 2750 fps. Level III plates are NOT rated to stop 5.56

    Are you legally allowed to wear a ballistic vest like one that you are wearing inside or outside of the shooting range while practicing some shooting drills? Or it’s just stupid thing to do? Coz shit might happen at anytime.any moment it’s because you wanted to protect your self and have a piece of mind. However knowing people besides you or even the Range Safety Officers might have a second thought?! We are leaving in a dangerous world right now...I am not in the military or a contractor but my Grand father served in the US Army during the Korean War. I guess it’s rans through my blood 😁. Anyways i just want to share my thoughts about wearing a bulletproof vest & I would like to order one. Nice video sir! God bless

    • @Ravnican127
      @Ravnican127 8 лет назад +2

      +Your Royal Hoiness I know its a little late, and I assume you were joking but, the problem isn't stopping the bullet its about dispersing the energy. A 1 inch AR500 plate will stop the round but you are still talking TONS of kinetic energy. No the bullet didn't penetrate you, but a moped just flew into you.

      More importantly criminals breaking in to homes are regularly armed. More commonly these days with rifles. So having access to body armor capable of stopping rifle rounds is a good idea.

      It's actually pretty hard to shoot yourself with appendix carry once you've trained yourself to do it for a while. I hope he doesn't go around town looking like that though, cause he was printing through that Polo like the first press for the New York Times.

    While I found this video informative I have to disagree on CCing while wearing such a plate carrier. I'm not out to turn this into an OC vs CC debate for EDC, but by wearing such gear you are already showing that you're prepared for trouble, and as such most likely armed. Thus you aren't gaining anything by CCing and are potentially hurting yourself (slower draw time and more potential to mess up the draw given having to move clothes, body armor, etc). OCing in such a situation makes your draw both faster and easier by preventing your clothes/armor from accidentally interfering with the draw in a high stress situation.
    Of course if you keep the armor at a location other than home and don't have an OC holster with it you will be CCing it. But I see zero advantage and only disadvantages/issues in CCing over OCing while wearing something as obvious as body armor.

    • @crazyfvck
      @crazyfvck 5 лет назад +1

      +aknazer I agree with your point. That is why I bought one of the concealed carriers from AR500. It keeps everything hidden under a normal shirt. I plan on wearing it everyday, especially since my company does not allow weapons to be carried on the premises.
