I was on the fence between the Veritas and the Testudo and I ended up going to AR500 and tried both on. The Veritas is more streamlined and is smaller in size and the Testudo offers more options as far as what size plates you can run. Being 6'0ft 185lbs, I found the Testudo to fit me really well and had all the features I wanted minus what I wanted in a cummerbund. The cummerbund is nice but I wanted something that could help with airflow better since I live in AZ and I don't plan on running side plates. I ended up buying the Veritas laser cummerbund that they suggested and that works seamlessly with the Testudo. So for anyone liking the Skeletonized cummerbund option they offer for the Veritas, it also works with the Testudo. Also, I got the New Years special on the plates I ordered and they came with free side plates. So if I want to, I can have my original Testudo cummerbund setup with the side plates and just switch that out with the Veritas Skeletonized cummerbund as I see fit.
THANK YOU for the Great Review! It helped me decided on the Testudo Gen 2. I got my Testudo Gen 2 plate carrier this morning and I have had it on for an hour. VERY comfortable. With the 11" x 14" AR500 III steel plates, it's heavy (25 + lbs.). But after an hour I was already adjusting to the weight. Later when I get used to this weight I'll add the 6" x 8" side plates (6 x 8 inch plates, DIGGING IN MY PITS, WENT TO 6 X 6-INCH PLATES - UDATE AT END ON SIDE PLATES). It's a very nice vest with lots of options. I've used a level III+ Soft Armor Plate on this inside of the steel plate, against my body as a spall catcher & a second line of defense. You need to do a video on the spall catcher soft plates. I did not know a soft spall catcher should be on BOTH sides of the steel plates, so I've ordered another set of spall catchers and an 11" x 14" level III+ Soft Plate for my back, under the steal plate as a spall catcher, between the plate & my body. The level III+ Soft armor stops a 44 mag at 15 feet. A NOTE: I had to used some duct tape across the top of the plates & spall catcher plates to hold it all together as I shoved it in the plate carrier pouch. It was a tight fit!!! (plates can't move around). IT DOES FIT! UPDATE: The 6" x 8" Side Plates were digging into my arms pits. The Plates are too tall for my 6 foot 220 lbs. frame. So I ordered the 6 x 6 side plates. I am wearing the 6" x 6" plates right now & it's so much better. This is one GREAT Carrier. NOTE: The Steel Plates I use are a single curved plate. For my wife we ordered the Veritas Plate carrier. It's the same as the Testudo Gen 2 but does not have a cummerbund for side plates. For her small size, 5-ft - 115 pounds, weight of the carrier was important. Be aware the Veritas only accepts 10" x 12" Plates, much lighter than the 11" x 14" plates I put in my Testudo Gen 2 Plate carrier. These are very comfortable plate carriers! Great for extended wear.

How are the shoulder straps when doing rifle drills? I have heard some say they prefer thinner shoulder straps that don’t get in the way when bringing rifle butt to your shoulder. Thanks, Joe
I have the veritas and the testudo, both fine carriers. Not to be contrary though. The testudo carrier is in fact named after the tortoise. The Roman formation you mention which is called a testudo is done so because when the shields were locked together it was like the giant tortoises shell protecting the soft underbelly. Good video. But don’t overthink it. Sometimes a testudo is just a testudo...tortoise shell.
This or the Veratas? I ordered the Testudo Gen 2 but thought it looked bulky. Thinking of going to the Veratas since I won’t ever run anything bigger than a 10x12 plate. I feel like the Veratas has a better shouldure weld for a rifle since it’s a smaller profile. Is one better quality over the other? Should I change my order or stay with the Testudo?
You should be adjusting both of them so the plates are in the same place on your chest, so the difference in shoulder weld would be minimal. The Testudo is a bulkier carrier overall, so I get why it looks like it would be more problematic. The Testudo is set up to run side plates and/or pouches, and it is much more secure when strapped down. However, the Veritas is lighter, and the smaller sides means more breathability. I think the Testudo is best for people who want a full-featured carrier, and the Veritas is best for people who want something a bit more minimized.
Hey man I just want to say thanks for that code. I just ordered my testudo package and hopefully I’ll have it within a few weeks. Thanks again, stay safe, happy shootin
I haven't gotten one yet. Looks very interesting, though. Plus, it's 100% US made for a really good price right now (only $141.55 with code twangnbang at goo.gl/jWsPL5). It's only pre-order right now, so it would likely be mid-February before they'd get me one to check out.
When the carrier looks just right on you. It gives an impression you can wear 11x14 ATC as it was designed to be worn closer to your body. The bottom space/gap seems not to provide solid platform for added pouches for Testudo with 10x12 plate; but Veritas because designed to that limit. There's a few videos that looks/feels like Spartan Armor doesn't make quality plate, but they're older videos and lack of video people wearing one. More often times, it looks like they're wearing 8x10 or 10x12 swimmer's cut for mobility vs traditional. Do you think 11x14 ATC front or back works or fit right on your size inside Testudo Gen2? thank you! :]
Didn't get the option to use your discount code. However the carrier is down to $85 right now. I felt stupid debating if I should buy it. I bought one.
I’m 5’5 touching 5’6 and I weigh 155 pounds but I’m a little built would you say this plate carrier is too big for me? Or should I go with the veritas?
The trick to fitting body armor is measuring from 1-3 inches above your belly button to the top notch of your sternum below your throat. If it is too big, it can restrict your movement and flexibility; If it is too small, it won't cover the essential vital organs. (I think) The smallest AR500 offers is 10" wide by 12" tall for a front and back plate. This Testudo 2 carrier (albeit extremely comfortable) is roughly 2" longer than that to accommodate the larger 11"x14" plate. With the smaller plate inserted, the rest of the carrier is flexible enough not to notice the extra inches. Unless you're 6'8" and 300lbs, no one needs the 11"x14" plates. Mobility is important. For that matter: Take walks in your body armor sometimes to get used to the weight (hopefully with a jacket over it to avoid panic or confusion). If nothing else, do housework in it. Sorry for the long post. I hope something here helps you.
Would you recommend this plate carrier or the veritas for someone who is around 5'8 and weight roughly 175Ibs??? Looking for a good carrier just not sure which one or size and style to go with.
I'm really thinking on getting this or the veritas. I'm 5'6" 170 lbs and have kinda thick neck but I want the more room for admin pouch and all plus the cumberbund like on the testudo. Which would you suggest because I don't want something super huge on me though. Can you buy other aftermarket cumberbund for the veritas?
The admin pouch on the Veritas is a bit difficult to access. If that is important to you, then this is the one you want. I’m 5’8” and 175lbs for reference.
Why is there so much hate for AR500 plate carriers? I get that some of the plates can be sketchy. But its a great entry level option for those thay want protection if shtf. Even if shtf i dont realistically see hours of daily gun fights like a Walking Dead wet dream. Coupd this fit a smaller person?
TWANGnBANG they sure do, and you get what you pay for. Any other recommendations for budget chest rigs? The Condor line doesn't seem to have the Velcro on the backside you attach you the testudo.
The Testudo Gen 2 now comes with wider shoulder straps that fix the neck squeeze! Plate carrier and armor kits can be found here: goo.gl/oesrnV
Is the one in your video the newer model with wider shoulder straps? Or is the one you have before they made this adjustment?
No. The one in the video, where I talk about the neck squeeze, is prior to them fixing the neck squeeze.
@@TWANGnBANG I figured it out. I ordered the kit shortly after I made that comment and absolutely love it. Doesn't squeeze my big neck at all. Lol

Looking for real good quality of Plate Carrier... Is this better than 5.11 or Black hawk Plate Carrier?
I haven't had direct experience with 5.11 plate carriers, but this is definitely the nicest plate carrier I've personally seen for the money.
Thanks for the code, less than $300? Nice. Not like it’s the best in the world but it’s better than nothing. Keep up the great videos.
Great review of the armor kit, it would be good to know what size plates and trauma pads you're using not knowing what your physical size is.
10x12
Excellent review. Cheers
bought one, and its awesome!
what color would you recommend? I'm in the civilian sector.
what backpack could you run on it? 2:14
Can someone please help me? I’m having trouble shouldering my rifle, due to the shoulder strap being in the way. Any tips?
Hey man I just want to say thanks for that code. I just ordered my testudo package and hopefully I’ll have it within a few weeks. Thanks again, stay safe, happy shootin
Awesome!
I hope to see you at Shot Show!
Be sure to say hello if you do. I'll give you a TWANGnBANG patch.
I'll be at the AR500 Armor booth #7605.
Of course! I'll definitely see you, then.
What do you think of the Crye Precision JPC compared to this? I also want to check out their new SPC but I guess it’s still hasn’t been released.
Good review, the veritas and testudo look good for the price. Do you have any insight on the Valkyrie pc?
I haven't gotten one yet. Looks very interesting, though. Plus, it's 100% US made for a really good price right now (only $141.55 with code twangnbang at goo.gl/jWsPL5). It's only pre-order right now, so it would likely be mid-February before they'd get me one to check out.
Awesome. Thanks for the info.
does this have a emergency release?
You can see all the quick release buckles in the video. You will not get a quick release using any cummerbund, however.
Would you recommend using 10x12 or 11x14 armor in this PC? What feels more comfortable?
Depends on how big you are I'm 6 ft 200lbs and wear 11x14 but there's ppl larger than me who wear smaller plates I opted for more protection
man that feature list was well read remember to breathe dude lol
I am looking to get a plate carrier but can’t decide which to buy.
How does this Testudo compare to the 5.11 Tactec carrier? Similar prices
How’s the mobility and agileness with this plate carrier? Can you do Rifle to pistol transitions pretty easy? Awesome video man btw
Do you think Spartan 11x14 Advanced Triple Curve plate insideTestudo fit right, and not chunky for her?
That’s just too big of a plate for someone the size of my wife.
Do you think 11x14 ATC front or back works or fit right on your size inside Testudo Gen2? thank you! :]
How tall are you? I just want to get an idea how it would fit in me?
3:54 EXTRA *t h i c c*
Thats one thicc ass boi
Do you think this would be good for cross fit?
I’m 5’4” and weigh about 120lbs, do you think that this would fit me? Or would you say the veritas would be good for me?
Can anybody tell me the dimensions of the front top Velcro and rear top Velcro please?? Can’t find that info anywhere...
Looks like the muircat carriers from tacticalscorpiongear
Didn't get the option to use your discount code. However the carrier is down to $85 right now. I felt stupid debating if I should buy it. I bought one.
How do ak mags fit in the pouches???
Which one would be best for somebody that is 6”2 at 225 pounds
Great video. New sub. Thanks for sharing.
For fitting sizes, how tall are you?
July 2020, shtf is here !
I’m 5’5 touching 5’6 and I weigh 155 pounds but I’m a little built would you say this plate carrier is too big for me? Or should I go with the veritas?
How would this fit someone that is 5 ft 4. 145 pounds? I was told it would be a little big
That's exactly my size. If this has the features you want, then this will fit you.
TWANGnBANG thank you
Can someone teach me how to put on magazine holders to my vest? Cannot figure it out ...lol
how can I get one of your cool Twang N Bang patch in multicam or tan???? I am 5'8" 135 will this fit me????
Patches aren't available for sale. This might be a bit big with the cummerbund but should be adjustable to fit you with the side straps.
If I’m 5’6 and an 170 athletic pound man, which would you recommend? The Veritas or the Testudo?
Either would fit you fine. You just need to decide what features you want.
quiero comprar uno . como o que debo hacer para tenerlo???. soy de argentina .
Great video 👍🏻
I need one.
Would this fit a skinny guy who is 6'3 well? Full vital coverage? Or would you recommend something bigger?
How does this plate carrier compare to the Condor MOPC ?
The Testudo seems built better and with better though-out features than the MOPC. The MOPC is actually quite similar to the Gen 1 Testudo.
What size side plates are you using in the video?
What do I need to do to get one for testing?
What do you think about the Condor MOPC????
Is this suitable for 5’ 7” and 5’ 8” people or does it run too big? Edit: I’m 5’ 7”, 170 lbs, around 30 waist.
Is the $159 price tag for the carrier alone or does that include the armor plates too?
So could you use this with the Haley Strategic D3CRX/Heavy?
Is this plate carrier adjustable? Im around 6-6'1 and i have a huge body frame.
Yes, but you’ll have to give your chest measurements to AR500 ARmor for them to tell you whether or not it will fit you specifically.
Alright cool. Thanks for the info
What carrier plates are made in USA?
RMA
great review! do you have any recommendations for chest rigs that would be accepted by this plate carrier?
Haley Strategic makes great chest rigs.
TWANGnBANG they sure do, and you get what you pay for. Any other recommendations for budget chest rigs? The Condor line doesn't seem to have the Velcro on the backside you attach you the testudo.
I don’t use them, so I don’t have any good info to share with you. I’m sure a call to AR500Armor directly will get you more options, though.
5'2" 115 lbs. ... Nice😌
So it fits nice on you?
I just ordered mine, im 5 foot 7.
@@SpicyCactus I was referring to the 5'2" 115 lbs woman when I said "nice"
Mr. ʎuuǝʞ How does it fit. Im thinking about ordering one myself???
