Devon showed him his typical training. Brian was already better than Devon at most of the lifts first time trying. So, if he is that strong already, clearly it was table acumen that was required. It is difficult to teach table acumen, but Brian didn't know in round 4 that if you elbow foul and still get pinned then it is a loss. That is pretty basic stuff, which probably means Brian hasn't been watching armwrestling very much.
@@seismic6402 Better at the lifts... no. Stronger at the lifts with a lesser perfect form. Devon teached Brian not just the typical training. Devon really was trying to understand what Brian needed and went from there. Believe me Devon is the best trainer you can have. All over internet he is now moked. But at the long run Devon's approach and teaching will prove more effective and will produce a better arm wresler. Yes if Devon wanted Brian to be ready for Eddie he would do it differently. But Devon wasn't mainly focused on the match with Eddie. He wants a future for Brian. One just can't learn it in a few weeks. Injuries and things like that need to be accounted first and next to that some basics.
Worth noting Brian trained with a 1.5in strap instead of standard. In my opinion everyone should swap to 1.5 because it causes less nerve damage and accomplishes what a strap is designed to do better.
Brian is not a quiter. If he was'nt in for the entire ride then he would not have started with it at all. Larry quit because he does not have the same winners mentality that Brian has. Larry had too many teachers at first and then too many set backs. Then he broke a guys arm during a practise. Not his fault tho, but it made him too afraid to step back to the table.
@@jssw3404 You're saying that like Eddie Hall isn't a 350 pound strongman that could in his prime lift half a ton from the ground. Devon is fine for Brian, Devon is teaching everything all at once can be good for Brian because he can choose which style he will use later on. It will take longer for Brian to be competitive against the top pros but at least his style will be his own.
Devon is not the correct coach for Brian. Devon is not a good coach since he slams too much information into your head at once. A beginner needs to practise the basics a lot before going for the more advanced stuff. Just like Neil did with Eddie.
Bad analysis. Eddie won the straps match due to loading massivly before start. You can clearly see it in eddies yt video. Brain tryed to elbow foul out in that straps match. Also clearly visible. Comparing 2 completly different athletes in a similar situation say absolut nothing. Ask levan how he would do in a kingsmove. Its the same tiype of comparison. Your videos become more and more clickbait i will unsuscribe now
I agree with you. I have actually stopped watching a lot of his videos due to this. He is wrong in a lot of what he says. He has been against Brian from the start. And he did not mention the fact that the elbow foul did not get called, which it should have been. And a tighter strap would have worked in Brian's favor, not against him.
@@anderswallin3883 If you elbow foul and the opponent pins anyway, the pin counts. As an example look at John Brzenk vs Devon from 2015. Devon won the first round and then John went into beast mode and pinned Devon twice outside of the straps. Devon's elbow was off for the pin, but it counted.
Wouldn't call that "palm up", his pronatation looks decently intact actually, more than 45 degrees. Eddie is insanely high but he still not able to fully turn up Brian's hand which actually bodes well for Brian's future. Would like to see another strap match with a better setup/start from Brian, impossible to say either way based on 1 go. Anyways yes Brian needs a real coach who knows how to teach noobies like Neil did, simple as that.
Honestly I think it will be great for Brian in the long run that he has learned all the nuances first instead of something basic that may leave out some advanced pointers to help people get going. If Brian sticks with it, Devon’s lessons will be gold in 2-3 years.
Devon has already achieved a high level of conditioning with specifically trained tendons and arm wrestling strength, which may not be evident from his appearance. His training strategy is meticulously crafted to enhance strength through micro-isometric exercises, crucial for success in matches. While full range of motion exercises are beneficial for beginners, they are not necessary at Devon's advanced level. Plus, Devon utilizes his frame, heights so well. He is a complete armwrestler. Brian, on the other hand, should consider a training approach that is more tailored to his individual needs.
I agree he doesn't need to train with Devon. Devon training is made for people with there build and wrists. He limited brians strengths and he needs to be trained for his strengths.
Yeah, but lot of that power is his core and legs..built thick ..most people's spine would snap, no matter how strong their arms. That said, if Levan would do SM, they all would be royally f'ed.
It's not really about that. He was the best in history at one point, but he had some massive and crucial injuries since then. He's not even close to the level he was before. Brian is closer to his best level, since he not long ago retired from strongman. He won his last comp against the best current strongmen.
@@FSJazz if buts and maybes don’t work in arm wrestling you casual. Vitaly maybe but Brian is so far away from the top it will take him years. He’s terrible on the table
I don't question the training I think it was smart of Devon to have Brian roll out and do that defensive top roll because it's by far the safest move in arm wrestling and it got Eddie to hold on it. I'm sure Eddie is a beast in the straps. Lets not forget he is a world strong man too. When Brian starts using his shoulder it's going to get good but lets keep him safe for now.
I thought it was one of the best matches I've seen in awhile. I'd say both Neil and Devon did a pretty good job, Brian won 4-2 . But Brian the way he is he wont stop til he masters it
Brian Shaw was training with a group of people that didn't include Devon Larratt. Devon only visited him twice. Eddie Hall, on the other hand, was actually training with Neil Pickup.
Brian would have won all rounds if he just used back pressure and a top roll through Eddie’s fingers. He chose the wrong strategy which is perfectly understandable given he’s new to the sport.
Bro it is Brians first match . He like everyone needs time and several matches to figure it out. Look at the Levans first matches he was terrible that time he lost to many average guys. But he get better and better
I don’t think you are right about the tight vs loose strap in THIS application, just because if ALL of Brian’s experience is in a tight strap and learning to connect with that, having no experience with the loose one is going to cause an issue. As Brian stated, he needs to train for both scenarios, so he can learn to connect in a loose strap. Feeling that for the first time mid-match is obviously not ideal 🤔
What do you mean Brian is the stronger armwrestler? Brian has the stronger hand and wrist and longer forearm but id say Eddie has the stronger arm, shoulder and side pressure.
Devon obviously means well but he's not a good teacher for someone just coming into the sport, he gets way too technical and ends up confusing people like Brian who is just getting the feel of the table. Devon is probably the most passionate arm wrestler in the world he lives and breathes arm wrestling 24 / 7 and he's trying to teach Brian his 30+ years of experience all at once which is no good. Brian just needs the absolute basics right now and to continue to do the specific workouts to build the specific muscles for arm wrestling and just get as much table time as he can so he gets comfortable on the table before working with Devon on all the technical stuff (and Devon should never recommend Brian to fight to slip... Brian literally has one of the strongest grip strengths in the world and he has huge hands why would you want him to slip when he can juat grab on anyones hand and pin them without a strap)
Brian needs this brian needs that.. brian is one of the best strongman to exist hes not some big meathead off the local gym.. brian will get the hang of it with a little bit more time
💯% correct,Brian needs more tabletime with clean & simple moves to build up a comfortable style just for him..That Powerhouse can be hurted for life if he dont take care..It takes 5-8year to grow in to the sport, maybe shorter time "it's all in the head" /truck
Brian is right. He wanted to understand the purpose of each move in his training. He needs to consolidate his foundation and think more before getting coached by technicians as Devon.
The best trainer for Brian, is Ryan Bowen. All day. There’s not a single person that can teach Brian how to “get strong”… he simply needs to learn how to move and how to arm wrestle. That’s it. Bowen can do that. Bowen knows the game and teaches well. His steaming the eggs technique is truly An amazing way to practice.
Why is everyone acting like Brian was humiliated and crushed in this match? He won. He's a newb, and he beat a guy with a little more experience. He did well for a beginner, and he'll improve a lot.
I don't understand the fustration , it was a amazing first supermatch for both of them , they both did mistakes and great moves , that's how you learn and improve
The only reason people are frustrated is because this dude is very manipulative with his words. He's trying to say that Devon's training is not ideal and it's the reason Brian lost the 2 rounds and people think Neil is a better trainer and Devon is not an ideal trainer and his style is only good for professionals and Brian shouldn't listen to him. Many people believe this but I'm frustrated because of this. Brian only won because devon trained him and Brian can choose from the versatile style of techniques devon provides him and Brian already said he won't listen to devon and do what works for him for certain things because he was to be the best and that only happens when you do what works for you. Brian appreciated Devon for what he did for him and never questioned it. This dude is just trying to get views of misleading people
I think Eddie and Niel being close in power allowed Eddie to level up quickly and get in way more actual table time with a real pro. There is not much brian can learn from Devon, Devon way only there for a couple of days and Devon is just way too strong. Devon would have to intentionally weaken himself and it wouldn't feel natural, and even if Devon was weaker, Devon is a totally different kind of arm wrestler too with completely different lanes than Eddie, it wouldn't be functional table time.
I don’t get your point on Brians training being wrong. If you look at his videos with Devon, Devon is only teaching him the most simple lifts. So I feel like Devon tried to keep the training part simple. Yes, Devon went intro great detail on the table, but if you only have 3 days or so with Brian, u wanna show him as much as possible. I don’t necessarily agree with how Devon teaches, but when a veteran armwrestler teaches you, you listen. And Devon surely knows what’s best for most armwrestlers. Not me, or you pradeep. We have no clue compared to Devon.
Why would we not hype him? He is naturaly gifted for the sport and has the right mindset for the sport. It will just take him a while to get comfortable at the table due to being so big and strong. And the more light we put on him, more people will find the sport.
You are underestimating how freaking strong Eddie Hall is; he's not some bum they found on the street, he's a decorated strongman himself and is very competitive. He had way more training than Brian had going in, he's himself a very big guy in case you missed, yet Brian still beat him convincingly; despite the table being too small for him. Both of these guys can get to the top if they want it enough.
@@YeeLeeHaw I agree and disagree. Eddie's arms and shoulders are insane, yes. When you say Brian beat him convincingly, what planet are you on? If Eddie slips he demolishes Brian. If you don't believe me, listen to Voice of Armwrestling or Neil Pickup.
Brian is gifted! He did well despite Devon's flawed training. A beginner needs to drill the basics way more than what Devon had Brian do. Eddie did so well because he had a better coach, not because he is more gifted than Brian. Eddie actually had more quality time at the table since he had Neil as a coach. The guys that Brian trains with are not as good. Also, Brian's size and strength works against him at the moment since he is too big for the table (thats a fact and not an excuse) and his strength makes it harder to learn techniques. Once he gets passed that he will be a beast. Guys like Levan and Vitaly, who are close to Brian's size got that big and strong over time, so they adapted over time. Brian started with this size and strength as a beginner and that works against him. Give him time instead of talking shit.
being that you are a very good armwrestler your opinions are valid. thanks for all the reaction content, super high effort stuff. looking forward to more.
Brian isn't going to beat Levan. It is all stupid hype started by Devon. With proper training and knowing how to slip, Eddie could be a force after 3-4 years, when he will still be around 40. I don't think Eddie wants it though.
Here's my keyboard warrior opinion: Devon's training: WAY too much information for a beginner, way too many semi-advanced details, not enough focus on the basics and not enough proper big range of motion work (inclusing side pressure) that does work well for most people.
devon is a terrible trainner,he complicate so much his explanations ,its crazy sometimes, for the beginners you need things as simple as possible but instead when devon talking to a beginner he is talking like in front of him is someone with some anatomical or psychological problems,i cant understand him,arm wrestling is one of the simplest sports out there and you have to keep it simple
All these videos are merely opinion based off of very little experience. India doesn’t as of today, produce any major world champions...with all the billions of people you would think it would. Hence the poor opinionated commentary 😂
Devon's a bad trainer, he's trying to teach people how to mimic his style which is to cheat as much as possible before the start, not hold on, and only outside move. Brian needs someone that truly understands individuality, someone with a hand as big as Brian should not be trying to run and always go outside. Derek smith and RVJ although not the best or strongest armwrestlers, are great teachers of the sport.
Respect to Pradeep for learning to just say 'stronger' instead of 'more stronger'. I corrected him about that awhile back and he took it into account. TLDR; my read is that Brian’s comment was the opposite - he should have listened to Devon and stuck with the simple exercises/lifts given to him.
The owner of this channel is the biggest Devon hater. Seems like every video he is hating on Devon in one way or another.
Agree
Even though this shithead uses Devon’s likeness and name to boost his stupid show. And don’t forget the time Devon helped him boost his name by giving derp derp an hour long interview back when nobody even cared about him.
nope, he just says truth.... Devon is a bad coach. Neill, Engin are much better coaches.
@@KrakenKraken-j5i The Truth? He's legit misleading the truth. Brian never criticised Devon's training or even questioned it. He's doing all this for views. As a former content creator I understand it but the thing is, I never appreciated these things. Brian only won because of Devon's training? If Neil is a better trainer why did Eddie lose? Eddie was trained by Neil even before the match and wasn't a complete newcomer to the sport. Just because he moved better? What's that gonna do if you lose still? And if Neil is a better coach why didn't he tell Eddie to slip? He was clearly "better" in the straps wasn't he? After realising you're better in straps you still don't try to slip? Is that some wonderful training out there? Devon gave knowledge of versatile techniques to Brian so he could choose his style and Brian's goal was never to beat Eddie he's aiming to be the best and you only learn from your losses and he didn't even lose that you guys have to criticise his training just because devon trained him. Brian is very new to the sport and he's as Big if not Bigger than Levan in size and Taller than Devon himself. He will surely have issues on the table to move better. If he perhaps gets a bigger table and utilizes his bodyweight like levan the way devon taught him btw he will surely be better. Devon is a good coach and if Brian won Devon had a significant contribution to it. Even Brian acknowledges it but this dude will never show it because he has to criticize devon by misleading for views.
@@Yosh002 But I say that Devon´s training methods for beginners are s.hit. I watch AW long time since 2004, I know what is going on. Btw. sports number one are tennis and boxing for me. I did not read majority of your message because it is too long, I will not waste more time than necessary .... just relax and don´t be to emotional about canadian ptsd guru.
Vitaly and Levan may be the best Training Partners for Brain due to their similar size and frame on the table
Not with the launage difference
C’mon. They live on the other side of the world.
Devon did gave him everything he needed. Brian did not aply it to the fullest. That's all.
I think there is no problem wit devon training brain was nervous thats it
Misleading content
Worth noting Brian trained with a 1.5in strap instead of standard. In my opinion everyone should swap to 1.5 because it causes less nerve damage and accomplishes what a strap is designed to do better.
I love Devon but i dont think he is the person Brian should be listening too.
Brian wouldn't be here with us without Devon.
I don't think Brian shaw can beat Levan, he will quit halfway, just like Larry Wheels did.🤔🤔
Brian’s not a quitter man
He couldn't even finish Eddie off for 6-0. What do you think? lol
He’s a rookie !!! He needs years before levan . Obviously levan wins easily right now . Of course he does
Brian is not a quiter.
Eddie also had way more table time than Brian going in, despite what he's telling people. The fact Brian still beat him convincingly is impressive and just goes to show how much mass and leverage matters in this sport.
Devon is a terrible teacher, Neil is the best.
Terrible for newbies excellent for pros
Devon is fine for Brian, Devon is teaching everything all at once can be good for Brian because he can choose which style he will use later on. It will take longer for Brian to be competitive against the top pros but at least his style will be his own.
Or engin
Devon is not the correct coach for Brian. Devon is not a good coach since he slams too much information into your head at once. A beginner needs to practise the basics a lot before going for the more advanced stuff. Just like Neil did with Eddie.
People must be a fly on a wall when they practice to know exactly what Devon is showing Brian lmao. You only see a tiny fraction via video.
Keep on criticising Devon’s training even though he trained the newbie and got the win, the Devon hate is real lol
Well ppl are sick of gomer. Everyone exept his love girls
@ what? People are just sick winners, it’s called tall poppy syndrome
The title is complete off in this video. Brain infact said he will adjust his training. As expected from a new guy to not train perfect from the start. Devon visit brain late in his training and nothing was said about devons training from brian. Please stop to asume and interpret then conclude like its a fact.
Devon seems better suited to training himself than anyone else but his son.
Im glad more people are giving you feedback on clickbait and junk content. You don't need to do this.
I agree he doesn't need to train with Devon. Devon training is made for people with there build and wrists. He limited brians strengths and he needs to be trained for his strengths.
Nobody has faith in Eddie hall... as if he didn't dead lift 500kg
Yeah, but lot of that power is his core and legs..built thick ..most people's spine would snap, no matter how strong their arms. That said, if Levan would do SM, they all would be royally f'ed.
Morr like he strict shoulder pressed 216kg
It's not really about that. He was the best in history at one point, but he had some massive and crucial injuries since then. He's not even close to the level he was before. Brian is closer to his best level, since he not long ago retired from strongman. He won his last comp against the best current strongmen.
@@SergiuNw They both have strengths, but Eddie's arms and shoulders are at an insane level, even when not training them regularly.
Brian needs to learn a kingsmove
All that size and power just to kingsmove ??? lol
If athletes like Brian shaw and Vitaly both having 6'8 height learns kings move , it's over for everyone.
@@FSJazz Vitaly with an elite kingsmove would be unstoppable
@@FSJazz if buts and maybes don’t work in arm wrestling you casual. Vitaly maybe but Brian is so far away from the top it will take him years. He’s terrible on the table
@@FSJazz ur statement is like saying imagine levan learns how to kingsmove. What then ????? Do you see the problem with ur statement 😂
Brian needs more table time. He’s strong but uncoordinated on the table.
I don't question the training I think it was smart of Devon to have Brian roll out and do that defensive top roll because it's by far the safest move in arm wrestling and it got Eddie to hold on it. I'm sure Eddie is a beast in the straps. Lets not forget he is a world strong man too. When Brian starts using his shoulder it's going to get good but lets keep him safe for now.
brian is horrible with toproll, imagine him in a hook...
He did great what are you talking about. Eddie was holding on
Obviously Devon’s training works for him. He’s arguably #2/3 in the world still
I thought it was one of the best matches I've seen in awhile.
Brian should train with the greatest, John, Levan, or Denis 2018.
Brian needs this brian needs that.. brian is one of the best strongman to exist hes not some big meathead off the local gym.. brian will get the hang of it with a little bit more time
Maybe Brian should train with Denis Cyplenkov, it would be very intresting!
Bowen is the GOAT. His path is Brian-Samushia-Levan
This dude is just trying to get views of misleading people
The funny thing is I think if eddie had slipped and got into the straps I think eddie woulda won the match
Bro needs to train like an elephant
You only get high level knowledge from high level competition. This is why Levan said Brian needs at least a year. Devon was a non factor.
Just have him arm wrestling other guys, that’s how u learn
Brian was trying to elbow foul. He didn’t lose that round because Eddie pinned him. He made a mistake on that. He thought it would get reset.
If you have the buckle you want it slightly looser.
Eddie could have won that match easy if he kept trying for the strap.
Y'all need to stop hyping him , he is probably never ever going to beat any top 10 arm-wrestler . LEVAN is just way too far .
He should go train with Levan and Genadi.
He thinks cause he weighs just as much as levan he would get a easy pass into arm wrestling
Brian needs to train on the table and figure out what works best for him he needs table time
Finally, Brian Shaw is using his brain...Needs to understand basic stuffs and Devon is not the right person.
Click Bait..stop trying to create a riff with devon and bryan
Does this guy even f’kin arm wrestle?
Who's oldest-ever world-champ arm-wrestler? If Brian turns-out to have it in him, would he be the oldest?
Round 1 was just nerves from Brian and being too antsy, nothing more
You are making comparisons to elite pullers with lanes they want to go. If that strap was tight, Brian would have destroyed Eddy. That simple.
Devon's training is pretty unique but definitely works for him but Brian is huge an that type of training may not be suitable for him
Devon’s training only for experienced people in armwrestling or gifted people but not for Brian definitely.
@ not gifted in armwrestling at all 🤣🤣🤣
Happy xmas pradeep
larrats style of armwrestling is not suitable for shaw in which larrat relies on endurance...shaw should have toddzilla teach him
Devon was an absolutely TERRIBLE coach for Brian.
No tighten strap he wouldn't have got in that position
You talk in circles. You often say one thing, and then cancel out what you said
being that you are a very good armwrestler your opinions are valid. thanks for all the reaction content, super high effort stuff. looking forward to more.
Happy with the content... but..very good arm wrestler? Is this a bot?
brian has no chance in armwrestling, he will quit within the next year
You always talk like you know what’s going on, but do you actually know how to pull?
Eddie did the right thing, he attacked the fingers, and Brian is a newbie, so he held on too long
Complete opposite.
Brian isn't going to beat Levan. It is all stupid hype started by Devon. With proper training and knowing how to slip, Eddie could be a force after 3-4 years, when he will still be around 40. I don't think Eddie wants it though.
Brian see that Devons training is why he cant get to 300 lbs
Devon is a bad trainer and yet trained his son who has not lost a single match
Here's my keyboard warrior opinion: Devon's training: WAY too much information for a beginner, way too many semi-advanced details, not enough focus on the basics and not enough proper big range of motion work (inclusing side pressure) that does work well for most people.
maybe Devon is scared from Brian and wants to mislead him.
devon is a terrible trainner,he complicate so much his explanations ,its crazy sometimes, for the beginners you need things as simple as possible but instead when devon talking to a beginner he is talking like in front of him is someone with some anatomical or psychological problems,i cant understand him,arm wrestling is one of the simplest sports out there and you have to keep it simple
All these videos are merely opinion based off of very little experience. India doesn’t as of today, produce any major world champions...with all the billions of people you would think it would. Hence the poor opinionated commentary 😂
Im always against the clownmovers, happy brian win, eddy train with mmchicken?😂
Devon used Brian for his own selfish gains!
Yeah that m’a why both are the best in their categories right?
Where did Larry end up with Derek Smiths training lol
Brian just keeps coming up with more and more and more excuses
Praderp, your takes on anything concerning a Western arm wrestler are very much like your own arm wrestling skills. Pathetic
good, clickbait, I unsub + dislike + do no recommend this channel again. BYE
Respect to Pradeep for learning to just say 'stronger' instead of 'more stronger'. I corrected him about that awhile back and he took it into account. Unfortunately, I still chose to give the vid a dislike because he TELLS us to like the video rather than ASKING. I disagree with that on principle. Great vid though!
