    Is there an exact number of how many there are supposed to be by the end of 2024?

      At the rate of ~two R211 sets per month, we should have ~32 sets of 211s completely replacing the R46s on the A/C lines by the end of this year.

    The new trains look good. Why don't they have open gangways? I thought NYC metro was getting them.
    I live in LA, and our tiny subway is getting new trainsets this year with new seating like on this train, but also with open gangways. Our current 30 year old trains all have forward facing seating and no open gangways. The naximum number of cars per train will be 6.
    I'm glad to see NYC updating their meteo. Congrats. Hopefully, I'll make it there for a visit next year. Thanks.

      There's only 2 new trains that have the open-gangways, which are not known in the video, if you like to know!

      @notmrpopular0099 I see. So you know if they plan to add more of those trains going forward?
      I saw one video of that train type going through a curve, and it was cool how you could see down the long gangway curving as the train was moving.

      @@mrxman581 I wish I know, but sadly I don't. But, I do know that there is one more option order which could include more of those open-gangway trains. However, whether or not the MTA is going add them or how many exactly remains unclear as of this time...

      The R211A is regular separate cars. The R211T has the open gangways. There’s only a few R211T sets in service as of June 2024. Hopefully they will get more soon.

      They get glitchy at times and I believe the MTA just said screw it after a few new sets entering service

    So did the sign change from 8th Avenue Express to 8th Avenue Local by itself or did the train crew change it?

    • @fantherailsbc
      @fantherailsbc  4 месяца назад +3

      The conductor changed it at 59th Street because the train was on the 8th Avenue local track due to the G.O.

      @@fantherailsbcOkay thanks for the explanation. I was thinking that's some serious AI if the train knew it was going local by switching tracks.

    So there were 17 in service and every time I take the A I just happen to get a r46?

    • @fantherailsbc
      @fantherailsbc  4 месяца назад +5

      R211s and R179s are a little more common than R46s now but there is still a high chance you will end up taking a R46. If you stay at the station and just observe for a while, you’ll see the difference.
      Also, not 18 all are in service at the same time as some are stored in the yard as backups in case any of them get taken OOS. There’s even less on the weekends because of longer headways.

      I miss the R46. There is a prediction I have that the first R46 set (6226-6230) will get retired by next month and get replaced by R211 4270-4279. If they start retiring next month, the MTA will either go by the worst door chime, what I predicted, or start going by number order (5480-5484, 5485-5489, etc.)
