I would love to attend a class taught by Brian. He does a great job explaining all of the components. It sucks you had to buy a new clutch basket, but it's nice to know what damage to look for. I learned a lot from this video.
I have a 2007 CBR 600RRa REPSOL and replacing the clutch assembly as well. Most of everything is simplistic but also intricate. I bought this bike from a friend and my clutch went out on the freeway. Once I got it apart, it too, looked like the very clutch assembly on this video. It was worn and of course "smoked". Probably from the previous owners and racing. Hopefully I can find a whole kit at a reasonable cost and not out of pocket a lot of money. Funds are tight at the moment. This video is an awesome teaching and will recommend these guys to all our riders. Thank you for all that you guys do!!! Jason Barnes--
Thank you so much guys for this video. You have no idea how much this helped me on my 600RR. You guys shared valuable knowledge, and my gratitude goes towards that. A big thank you all the way from Portugal, Europe. ✌️✌️✌️
i have attended college and i have bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.....Brian and WBR has taught me as much if not more about the engine internals as my professors and my course
OC: I found the same thing when tearing down my 900ss and was a bit surprised. I looked it up on the forums and people mentioned that it was caused by the springs. I'll be honest though; I might have put it back together like that thinking, "Is there that much lateral pressure on that part? I could probably get another clutch worth out of it." I'll be replacing it when I get to that step of my rebuild project now (currently replacing the engine case bearings...weee...). Thanks for looking out for those of us that are still learning!
Lovin this guys! My wrecked ‘08 CBR600RR build on my channel has a hole in the clutch cover so I will be opening this up. Glad to know what I’m getting into!
could have used the old clutch plates to "hold the 2 baskets together" instead of using the I might break the post method to loosen that nut, if you wanted to show how to remove it with out the clutch holding tool.... other than that... really good explaining what you're doing and whats going on. Maybe its the old race mechanic in me but I often watch these and think; i wonder why he likes the small 1/4 ratchet instead of a t-handle wrench
Not sure if you are going to see this, but if you do can you get Brian to look at the oil pump chain, and talk about the slack in it? Mine has a ton it
Hi again. I'm rebuilding a 954rr which is the same as your 1000 and a R6. I'm splitting the case on both, total rebuild and on the 954 I just did the clutch. I would like to hear about removing the nut and using an impact. The rapid back and forth hammer action worries me, is this not suggested? Internally, is this too stressful. I agree that using a screwdriver is very bad, buy the specialty tool. I also found that I have blue spots on the steel plates, so a close up of a worn plate would be good to determine what is too much damage and what is acceptable. I had problems unstacking the nut, I tried to clean up the nut to reuse and that's a mistake. Also aligning the basket with the gear was confusing because you cant see if it's mated with the oil pump gear behind it. You should show what is proper alignment/seat. Still want more close up camera action and that next 1000 vid. Look at Brian's steady hands. Theres no "Y" in Brian, just an I.
Good timing I’m doing the most difficult clutch I’ve done so far on a r6 any tips you can give on reassembly especially on the pull rod and cable would be a life saver for most people
19:50 ah this drama up play lol, whilst it's not good that inner basket its unlikely it will cause issues as long as the clutch pull is smooth, i personally would 100% replace it but not to mention inner baskets are the "most expensive" part of the clutch but are overall super cheap, you can easily find some near brand new under 50 bucks for a cbr600
I remember that happening on my fzr400 😅 but when it comes to engines going bang, worse one was i lost 2nd gear on my fzs600 fazer kept riding it as i couldnt afford to fix it until it went bang. It was and still is stuck in 6th gear. Ended up replacing the engine entirely and stripping the old one for spare parts as its so old the stuff that was good i wouldnt be able to buy anyway
Thank you, this was very helpful and informative. The clutch looks almost the same as on my 2000 CBR600f4. However my clutch is over 20 years old but doesn't have grooves like those, & still looks good as new? Those guys who assembled & disassembled that clutch must have been idiots.
2 years ago in Moto2 when the Honda 600 engines were still in use, a rider got one of the engine pieces in his foot... piece of the clutch broke off...
I hate when you buy new parts to fix an issue then you find more than you bargained for. Evertime I do just routine maintenance on something I will always find something else that needs replacing
shame this isnt a slipper clutch so we could all see how those works, still great episode and very informing Theres almost 0 times that you would want to hold a spring in place by the sides like Chase would have thought, it would basically defeat the purpose of the spring completely. Valve springs dont have this, fork and shock springs dont as well. The only case you would (that I can think of, there may be more) is when replacing just the shock part of a McPherson strut and plan on reusing the same spring.
Brain said:"These are already removed, stacked in the right order", how do you know what is the right order? Is it reffered to 3 types or the middle ones have it's unique order on it's own? If you see this Chase, ask Brain that question in next episode. :D Love the effort, say hi to the team :)
Not sure if this going to covered in the reassembly video but shouldn't you soak the friction plates in engine oil prior to installation? I've done a couple of clutch pack replacements on my Kawasaki's and I've always soaked the frictions overnight before installing them. Maybe it's a Honda thing. Love this build series by the way. I really enjoy the in depth breakdown and insights that you and Brian provide.
Brian.... Is CBR 600RR clutch a dry fit or do the plates require pre-soak? Most of the clutch jobs I've done are on older British bikes that have a bad habit of stripping the friction plates if installed dry.... Love the vids man keep rocking it guys, much love!
9:10 Brian: "Technical blah, blah, blah" Chase: "pretty bikes, pretty bikes" I love it, you made me laugh. Poor Chase. But it did match his expression. LOLOL
@chase can you ask Brian, what are the tell-tale signs of a dealership with a good service department? Like how how do i know that if i drop my bike off at a triumph dealership or etc... the work will be actually performed as it should be etc.
Just asking, for i saw it in many other videos her on youtube. Don`t the friction plates get laid in oil several hours before getting installed or doesn`t it matter?
Race Bike without a slipper clutch?? YOYODYNE or SUTER ect would be great for this build. Or even possibly the factory OEm version from the 2021 bike if possible :) Let make this a real race bike and not a pretender :)

Chase trying not to laugh at the "tiny little shaft over here" part was great 😂, right around 10:00. 😂

The Chase Thought bubble was hilarious, lol

How can Brian be so cool and knowledgable? Wish all mechanics had your ethos!!!
I'm listening because I feel like I'm with them in the shop. Thank you guys! I'm learning a lot now. Merry Christmas!
Was always afraid to open that cover until now.
Lovin this guys! My wrecked ‘08 CBR600RR build on my channel has a hole in the clutch cover so I will be opening this up. Glad to know what I’m getting into!
OC: What about keeping the new friction plates sunk in engine oil for some time before install?
You deserve respect because your explanation is beautiful and wonderful and easy to learn ❤
I dig the realness of your show bro!
At 10 min...”All these things are connected to this 1 shaft, I have a tiny one over here and I’m gonna show it to ya!”
After the jump cut everyone is giggling too 🤣
@@lannonan i'm surprised they made it to the cut without total chaos breaking out ... I barely did.
Loving these videos! Moaar paleeese. I could listen to Brian all-day
Suter slipper clutch would have been perfect for this bike.
Usually a oem guy on bikes with a few exceptions. I agree when it’s already apart..
Cleanest editing in town
So happy I found this video cause I need to do all this and it’s nice slow and thorough 💪🏼
Could you maybe start including average price of said jobs please. And love the build series!
just tell us the average price estimate for the job.
Absolute brilliance.Bravo!!
That thought bubble was too funny!! It went perfect with how Chase was lookin.
Saved this video for this will be quite handy when I do clutch job on my 600rr
About to assess my bikes clutch soon, this shed some light on what I could expect, super useful.
It’s good learning what I can see myself doing and things like putting in a clutch leave this for the men and women at the shop
You are extremely lucky to have a buddy that's a motorcycle mechanic.
I luv that u guys never mention when these parts should be replaced or how many miles required maintenance.
Hahaha the Chase tought bubble is really funny and we all have that sometimes right!
So glad this channel is back. Back to normal life
Thank you for the in depth episode.
One day you're going to come out to your garage and find your google home built the first Google motorcycle.

If y’all need any parts let me know, I’ve got a 2008 cbr600rr motor I’ve disassembled that’s got some great parts :)
thanks for the reminder about stuff I should probably consider doing to my 80k mile daily commuter '07 ZX6R
How many miles once do oil change

Well at least you did not break one of the notches on your outer basket like i did. fun times.
Thanks Brian.
Only changed clutch plates on a Ninja 250R very cool to know
OC: The conversation with google had me goin' hahahaha awesome content as per usual Mr. Twowheels. 👌🏼
Can you look for a clear cover for the clutch plates for the 600. If you do can you notify me as well

CBR is always the best motorcycles, no cap
when there is no Yamaha R6 around maybe
@@JamieS1992 Yeahh, but for me CBR is still hitting dif asf
I want to buy this guy some tools…
Not only the crash if the clutch explodes it could possibly f up the right leg causing blood poisening and maybe brake it 😅

Yes.. Most definitely. You should soak the clutch plates in oil for at least 24 hours for the oil to get into all the fibers of the clutch itself.

In the same situation. Can't seem to find the baskets for an 03 anywhere though. Do they still make them?
you tell google who's boss Chase =P
That moment you REALLY realize who watched the ENTIRE video. Good on ya sir!

Very informative!
He said it's because of over-torquing those bolts, what is the correct torque?
The Only Bad pun is the one not said!!! BRIAN! =P
somebody tell chase to buy a bigger battery for that 1/2" impact. Leaving powwwaa on the table!
Is there a whole parts list.
The google home conversation!!!!🤣🤣🤣
just curious would you guys be interested in building or rebuilding a vmax
Love your videos, have you ever work on a 2000 zx12r? I would love for you to work on my bike

I think my basket making vibration at 4k-6k rpms…is that possible ?
What brand of gloves do you use to work with?
Curious too
These are the ones we always use. geni.us/Z8joBG We just started using the green ones though. Love the way they look on camera.
I'm new but nice video..😍
The camera angles ir so bad... Atleast when Brians explaining pls put the camera on the thing...
Are they supposed to be loose in there?
I want one of those bike's
Just asking, for i saw it in many other videos her on youtube. Don`t the friction plates get laid in oil several hours before getting installed or doesn`t it matter?
Sometimes they're supplied pre-soaked, but these ones appear to be dry so, yes should be soaked in oil for at least a few hours before installing.
A few episodes ago, Brain mentioned some sort of fuel cleaner made by Yamaha. What was the name of it?
Yamalube engine med rx

Muito bom video !!!
The mechanic looks the same like the mechanic that’s fixing stangmode mustang lol
"REAL SHIT" IS THE WAY .....
Chase's face at 10:18 tho...
How many times does Brian say nipple?
Slipper clutch?
Where’s all the part numbers ?
RUclips cant keep yo boy chase down!!
should have in stalled a slipper clutch.. too late now I guess..
Don't worry i switch off and dream of ducati
Nothing wrong with that clutch
Yo Chase, just saying (friendly advice from a fellow RUclipsr) Do not upload these "shorts" to your main channel. They'll kill the channel over time.
I don't understand what's "short" about a 30 min video. Am I missing something?
Today I learned that Yamaha builds engines for Toyota, Volvo and some other cars.
Holy cheese and crackers I’m so early
What happened to your face bro you ok
So with the RUclips videos and the patreon videos being exactly the same, there's zero incentive to keep paying for them
Google tho 🤣
