I always loved pointing out the similarities between dragonball and sonic as a kid and wanted them to have an official crossover Where ssj Goku throws hands with super sonic or shadow and vegeta interacting If it ever happnes it'll be a dream come true.
I honestly like when they reference Dragon Ball or do something similar to it, it's clear they want Sonic to have the same shonen feel and appeal Dragon Ball does, so the way they do it is by ever so subtly by borrowing ideas from DB that are cool and unique on their own and when applied to Sonic, but that also make you go "oh I like the reference to Dragon Ball here" if you know the reference, and it's done to the point where it never comes off as them blatantly copying (Super Sonic 2 was the closest they got but he still stands out) Now as for if they should keep doing this, I think they should keep it at the same level it's been, focus on both giving Sonic his own identity and coming up with new ideas, but also nailing that shonen feel for the series, if they do that it'll be the best of both worlds
I hate when people say shadow is vegeta honestly, cause it really isn’t like that. I think the only similar thing is the little rivalry and how they both just get things done no matter how they do it.
THey not saying they are the same character, they have the same dynamic, same story telling impact. I can agree that dragonball isnt the originator of said dynamic, but it definitely fits.

Didn’t realize I got any replies. But if you dive into shadow’s character you will know that vegeta and shadow are nothing almost nothing alike. If anything he has more similarities to mewtwo than vegeta. And another point is that Sonics true rival is literally eggman.
I don't mind the franchise having parallels and take some inspirations from DB. Plus Sega/Sonic Team already said that they don't want to go to DBS route of adding more transformations that just overshadows Super Sonic and deal with the power creep problem. And tbh, I don't think Sega/Sonic Team even needs to fear about that cuz even tho the Sonic franchise takes elements from DB, still both of their success formulas are vastly different. Goku n gang unlock new transformations because the story needs a bigger threat and it makes Toei money. Sonic, what makes Sega money is the characters n lore for hardcore and for causals, quality fast pace platforming and just Sonic n gang having a cool adventure. The franchise can still give Sonic new transformation without having the power scale issue or make Super Sonic useless (Which glad Sega/Sonic Team finally understands by having Froniters show off Cyber Sonic and even Prime with Prism Sonic or whatever its called).
They don't have to keep on making more one time forms for Sonic just to make the ending hype for future 3d titles cuz that could get old quick. Instead maybe newer Sonic titles should give other characters shine by giving Sonic's friends a Super form and help Super Sonic defeat the final boss. Or give Sonic new abilities for the final boss like in Colors. Once the time is right, then bring in a new transformation for Sonic. And not just Sonic, but also give other characters either new transformations or one time transformations too.

Mobius and Planet Vegeta. idk if thats how it goes for Sonic but i remember reading a comic at Hastings in 6th grade and knowing about Mobius. i just turned 28 this past 27 so forgive me if i'm wrong 😂) Knuckles = Piccolo (part of an ancient race who protected sacred items; Chaos Emeralds and Dragon Balls) Tails = Bulma (best friend and tech wiz) Amy = ChiChi (used to be absolutely crazy over Sonic and Goku in the old times) Chaos = Beerus (only for the simple fact they're both referred to as "God of Destruction" even though DBS happened years later lol) Dr. Gero = Eggman (scientific geniuses who create robots/androids to combat their foes and have a long history between Sonic and Goku + they have similar designs) Bunny Rabbot = Android 18 (just something i've always thought about as a kid and they're both biological beings with robotic enhancements and a "spunky attitude" lol) Werehog = Super Saiyan 4 (both are "beastly" and the voice deepens) that's all i can think of right now 😅
