The AI on the 99-00-01 games were absolute balls. If you played a 100% race then at some stage during the race, the AI drivers would get ridiculous lap times which were unachievable even if you took shortcuts!

These games had terrible "rubber band" AI mechanics, indeed.

@@fernandomanzanares5555 Don't get me wrong, rubber banding is actually a vital part of a lot of games but if it doesn't work properly, the gamers will feel like they're being cheated. One current gen game with a messy AI is the Career Mode in Dirt Rally 2.0 where its far too easy at the beginning but the next notch up in difficulty is too much of a change and you end up at the back of the field.

many times they set absurd times because two drivers were in a tussle and therefore "pushed" each other but without ever touching, that's why they set super times, I fully remember it

yesterday i was playing f1 2001, imola GP ,with a lot of advantage ( like 30 sec ahead, 1st ) and then The Michael in just 2 laps overtook me with Mika in a blink of an eye. I was like " bro wft , i know Michael and Mika where legends, but holy shit " . They cheat but also you can make dirty maneuvers too make a difference

Did you raise a problem about this game (if you played with a ROM on epsxe for example) ?
From my side, everytime I run this ROM (EU, USA) it crashes during a lap, I tried to understand but impossible :((
