      I'm on my movies 4 pro and it's awesome l. I like the fact I can upload info that might be missing etc and support is great. May take a few hrs to a day for a response but that's still good considering they are in Denmark I do believe.
      Edit: I can even add titles manually that's not in the database and it becomes available for anyone else who has that title from what I understand.

      For MacOS-users, I gotta throw Movie Explorer Pro into the mix! Comprehensive tool for tracking the content of your collection; Physical Media, Apple iTunes purchases, and Digital files. Very powerful filtering capabilities of Movies, TV Shows, Cast, and Crew. Able to generate Reports in CSV, HTML, or PDF with rich poster-art. Multiple-title UPC Barcodes can be scanned using the FaceTime camera on the Mac or manually input. Extensive User metadata containing Runtime, # of Discs, # of Seasons, Aspect Ratios, Purchase Price/Date, Audio Codecs, Subtitles, Lending Library, etc. can be added. Customer Support is exemplary and there is a 14-Day Free Trial available to test it out!

    I sometimes miss the IMDb message boards. Sadly ruined by trolls, but for obscure films you could find years worth of insightful discussion. All lost forever - and there's literally no other site that has comparable infrastructure. There were discussions on any topic you could ever think up for every film and tv episode ever made - some conversations had lasted for more time than RUclips, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit had even existed.

    Personally Letterboxd has replaced IMDb when looking at cast and crew I can go down rabbit holes so easily and discover some really underated stuff. Of course if i want to know tech specs and Filming locations then IMDb is the answer

    • @Criner05
      @Criner05 9 месяцев назад +1

      I wish IMDB or Letterboxd had a feature where you can look up any two people (for example Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson) and it'll cross reference and show every movie they've both been involved in. Not just acting, but whether one was acting and the other was just a writer or even special thanks. Any credit of any kind.

    Good choices, Jeff. I use an app called CLZ Movies to keep track of my physical media. I scan the barcode and it adds it to the DB. I pay $20AUD a year and get cloud storage of the data, too, in case something happens to the phone. Totally worth it.

    I would love to use whatnot but I'd rather crawl through broken glass than live stream. I also use to CLZ Movie app for my collection and I've been really impressed with it. I used to be a DVD Profiler person but ever since it had a month long outage a couple of years ago I had to make a switch.

  • @SWATTECHNOLOGIES
    @SWATTECHNOLOGIES Год назад +9

    I have used DVD Profiler for about 12 years and amazingly it still works. However, out of fear of it not working someday, I've kept my own parallel Excel spreadsheet striped down version of my collection. Actually, my Excel is better than mymovies and DVD Profiler because I include a Wishlist and my CD collection as well and a rating column. It also has a column check box on whether I’ve watched it. My Wishlist has upcoming release date so far this system works for me and my excel is accessible via my phone. And yes, I know not everyone is a geek like me.

    As a parent of a movie-mad 6 year old, I find the IMDB parents guide invaluable. For example, Jaws is rated PG in the UK, but if I’d not have seen it (many times!) IMDB says violence and gore is “severe” so as a parent I can make informed decisions

    Hi Jeff: I'm a member and rely on you for what versions of films to buy. I have a specific question (2 part) I'm hoping you'll answer as a favor. I want to buy "The Great Escape" on 4K. So, my questions are: Since the Criterion Blu-Ray is a 4K master, would you wait for them to do the 4K disc? Or buy the Kino Lorber 4K now? Lastly, other than on eBay, is there any way on any sites to determine if you'll get the slipcover? Apparently, I don't like to live without the slipcover. THANKS!

    The mymovies app is buggy with newer iPhones so be warned. It worked perfectly with my iPhone XR but when I got the 14 I couldn’t see any DVDs from my collection on the app and the scanning feature pretty much doesn’t work. It’s a known issue on their App Store reviews. It’s so bad that I’m seriously considering getting a new app and rescanning all 5,000 of my movies

    The My Movies app looks pretty good. But from what I've seen you can't list dvd and vhs? And you can't filter by genre? Like if I'm in the mood for a good horror movie and would just filter out all of my horror movies to only go through that list... You can't do that?

    Another great video Jeff.
    I was hoping you could help me answer this question or anyone else in here.
    Looking specifically for detailed audio and video reviews for movies.
    Let's just say you're looking to upgrade from Blu-ray to a 4K disc, would like to know there's a website out there that discuss it in detail.
    I also wish iTunes would have reviews. I pulled the trigger recently on Trading Places 4k and wish there were reviews before buying it.
    Trailers on that app only have DVD quality or worse so you can't tell what you're buying.
    A long time ago I used to buy a magazine called widescreen review was talked about movies in detail.
    Anybody know any websites that can help a collector?
