This is exactly what I needed, thanks! Would be SUPER keen for some character specific guides and move breakdowns! Pretty new to fighting games so catching up on all the "obvious" stuff is pretty daunting.
For that there's a wiki with ninja and cowboys movesets and their unique effects. For example ninja has invincibility frames for the first part of his backsway or uppercut IF it's initiative (that means move is done before or simultaneously with your opponent) and jump kick/ passes through projectiles for the first half of the move. Look it up
"If either player gets hit, you both get you free cancels back" Me, who has spent my first 3 fights treating free cancels like some mysterious and unknown but precious resource that must never be wasted: :O
Great guide, The only like tiny little detail I wanted to point out that burst cancel is not only to predict burst, but also if it hits, it resets the momentum, DI multiplier, your damage and combo scaling and works as a great way to continue the combo and end the fight when your initial combo is about to end. Helped me to close out a bunch of games so wanted to point out.
Wait you're saying landing a burst cancel mid combo resets scaling?! Whoa. I did not know that. That's incredibly useful information! Thank you for sharing that!
@@YourOnlyGuideToHustleJust checked the wiki and need to make it clear - i was wrong, burst cancel just resets proration and air optionz, not damage scaling. It can increase the damage is the combo started with high proration attack tho, but generally it's like a small reset. My bad
thanks for the detailed guide! The way you demonstrated actual combat situations while explaining the mechanics was really useful. now I'm ready to hustle
Solid guide! There's a few things I'm still a little lost on, but thats way more on me than it is any one guide's fault. I think I can chalk that up to being a casual fighting game fan and not having some of the in-depth knowledge of the genre this game rewards. Thats ok! Your guide certainly helped me get through some of that so thank you!
Hey man I appreciate the video I just randomly saw a clip of someone playing and decided to check the game out. Figured if I’m going to play want to get better as well and came across your video. Perfect length and explanation of mechanics, love it for sure. Great video though I’m a year late 👍
@@YourOnlyGuideToHustle I tested it myself, and it's pretty much only at max kick range while grounded, so it's a bit specific of a burst bait setup and will now be obvious once someone knows it exists. Still, hammers home the fact that Ninja is really scary to fight on the ground, since I really couldn't name a single safer burst bait.
Thank you! I was wondering why my friend always seemed to be able to do actions when I couldn’t in similar situations, it’s because I never knew about the free cancel mechanic
Why does it sound like he's this close to snapping throughout the video xD In all seriousness great tutorial thanks a lot for explaining i finally understand how thoses damned cancels and advantage actually works out !
@@JAIISANNThe whole point of his character is he's able to throw some crazy stuff but if you hit him he really easily goes down with some well placed combos
I can understand the disappointment, but I still suggest giving it a try. At least for me it still hits the same way some of the other fighting games I've played before have.
Thank you for the concern, but no, it's just that I'm very new to content creation and kept being nervous when recording, then not knowing how to fix the audio very well after the fact.
Absolutely loved the video and man, you have a very nice sounding voice! I would love to see a video going into more depth on the cowboy... I know he seems like a simple enough hillbilly to play, but I could definitely use some tips and tricks. Great stuff man!
23:18 Hmm, I was playing wizard mirror match and half the time I had no free cancels even tho I hit my opponent multiple times with geyser and projectiles. So, I'm guessing not all the hits reload free cancels?
My mind is blown. I don't know how I never realized this considering I mained Wizard from the time free cancels started up to Robot's release. It seems to only be for melee moves (and grabs). Wow. Thank you for pointing that out! EDIT: That said, if you combo off of your projectile with melee moves the free cancels return.
I should have kept my mouth shut about free cancels after learning them from you. I made the mistake of telling my brother and now he beats me into the ground twice as hard. D: Character specific guides would be awesome. I love Ninja but I suck with him - Wizard came a lot more naturally but I feel a mild aversion to being a "Wizard main" for some reason.
Fully understand that. Wizard was also the one I clicked with first but took me a while to start really playing him because I didn't want to be "The Zoner" in yet another game.
Constructive criticism: you need to improve the quality of your voiceover. I don't know if you were dancing around while recording, and kept moving closer and further away from your microphone, but the audio levels are all over the place. One second I can barely hear your voice, the next it's a little too loud, and honestly, it drove me away. I can understand you likely don't have a professional audio booth, and that this is your first video ever, as far as we know, but getting consistent audio levels shouodn't be terribly difficult, and it's one of the few criticisms I have of the video, the other being the extended length (which to be fair, given all the ground you had to cover, it was necesary) and the somewhat inconsistent pacing at times, and working on this smaller issues would really drive up the quality of your videos. On the positive side, the video editing and in game examples were very well done, and you covered pretty much everything there is to know, save from specific character actions and how they interact with one another, but it's best to leave that to the player anyway. Anyway, thanks for the video! The game can be rather hard to pick up for new players, so each and every guide goes a long way to help people get into the game.
That's fair. I wasn't really sure how to do this because the thing is this was obviously not one take, nor even done on the same day, so I did notice that when editing it together and *tried* to level it out, but I'm not at all familiar with audio editing. If you have any useful resources you could throw my way for that, I'd appreciate it.
Yeah one of my biggest pet peeves is wet mouth noises and while the guide is good everyonce and awhile I would hear you swallow or smack your lips and it drove me insane
Great video! I've been misunderstanding some pretty essential mechanics it seems. Question though, what is it you say at 29:33-29:37? I'm having trouble parsing that
Sorry about that. Listening to it again I could have been clearer. Basically some moves do a wall bounce, where you hit the wall and bounce off. Some moves however do what is called a wall splat, and when you hit the wall, you stay on it and slowly slide down it. I know Ninja Jump Kick, Wizard Conjure Weapon, Cowboy Gun Shot and Robot's BOUNDS CHECK all have this property, although there's more than just those moves. Depending on the combo you want to do, it helps to know which moves have the wall bounce or wall splat property so you can plan accordingly. Hope that cleared it up!
Thank you so much you ducking amazing human though your voice is a shaky I know you wil confidently beat my ass in this game and I welcome it thank you for the guide
honestly, yomi hustle is SUPER accessible. if you just pay attention for a few matches, even if youre completely new, you can understand what everything means
Oh sorry I should have explained this in more detail. While you do have a huge frame advantage, it puts the opponent in a grounded state. Cowboy is the only character who can't hit an opponent in this state, so he has to use those plus frames to set up a mixup when the opponent stands up instead.
