can we get a puppet character plz ivy
Been wanting to make a video on Your Only Move Is Hustle since around February - and its turn finally came up on my production schedule so, yeah been thinking about this game for *awhile*
Can't recommend the game enough - it's cheap as hell, workshop content is already pretty damn expansive with plenty of custom characters, and you'd be denying your local fast food place another 5 dollary-doos
Won't be for everyone - playing another player from start to end can take like 30 minutes of your time depending on lobby settings, and lack of bot AI makes single player kinda one dimensional (if you're a workshop wizard whos familiar with Godot engine, please mod in singleplayer bots ill pay you fourty dollar), but for me it hit me in the face with nostalgia and I enjoy the hell outta it
I love video games and this is video games dude
a high pressure, mix-up heavy puppet character would go so hard istg
i think it would be really cool if they would be able to implement some sort of negative-edge akin to zato-1 or something similar to devo from jjba hftf
yt did not notified me and im subbed, i found out because your post in tweeter
my brother in christ orb wizard is puppet
diavolo on workshop is a pseudo puppet character
just about any character archetype you can think of is on the workshop
The battle replays DON'T DO THIS GAME JUSTICE!
In the heat of combat, I was paused at ONE FRAME thinking "Ninja trapped me with two sets of caltrops, a clone throwing kunai into the air to prevent aerial escape, and threw a shuriken at me so standing still isn't an option. Well played!" Then discovering that I can jump just right to narrowly slip between the kunai and shuriken, and land outside of the caltrops area.
All in ONE FRAME. That type of strategy doesn't translate into 60 fps.
It does, but ive only experienced it high level samurai shodown 5 special matches, in that game youre thinking a few moves ahead and its all gotta be frame perfect. But, sadly nobody plays it anymore
DAAAAAAAYYYYYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMM 😮
That feels like the freeze frame moments in the middle of JoJo fights when the characters stop time to think about their options. If this game replicates that, then it might be more fun than I thought. Thanks for sharing!
@@Drekromancer That's exactly what it is. "It's he does that, then this will happen, but if he expects it, he may do the opposite" etc

Man, that’s gonna put one hell of a crick in his neck
i kinda wish it wasnt turn based or there was a real time fighting game mode
This game is so underrated. From being able to choreograph your own fights to "Chess but everything is improv." I adore it and the modding community it has
I think the appropriate term for Cowboy is "Midrange". He's like Sin or Ramlethal from Guilty Gear, or Chun-Li in most Street Fighter games in that he has massive pokes and can control Neutral extremely well with his toolset. Stuff like Foresight and the gun you described, plus several others like Impale (which is straight up "teleports behind you"), let him put the opponent in dangerous 50/50s and mind games without having to get close, which in turn lets him get in close and start wrecking them.
Also, a little sad you didn't mention the coolest part of Cowboy: The fact that you can richochet the bullets into any direction you want, and even teleport them through your portals! Nothing beats hitting one person 3 times in a row with the same bullet!
I woulda, but Ivy makes significant mechanical changes so often that it'd be hard to keep re-writing and re-recording lines to include em. I had to do that with Ninja's grapple hook since I wrote the Ninja segment *before* he had grapple hook, so I had to add it to the script later lmao
Same thing with Robot's bomb - wasn't around when I was scripting and I just couldn't be bothered to go back and add even more editing time onto a project that already took me like a month to complete so, yeah
Ricochet bullets were added pretty recently and my script was already done by the time that change was added. But you are right- it's one of his cooler traits
NOW OBSERVE...
Bullets are cool but most cowboys I fight don’t even use them in an interesting way. They just waste bullets by ricocheting of the ground or try to shoot me at mid range when they know I can react and block. It’s annoying as hell when they just lock me in the corner for the next 5 turns , just to be petty. And as someone who plays alot of robot and wizard trying to close the gap and punish is painful
@@TriburosOnline Totally fair haha. I'm really excited for the future of the game, and even was in the process of modding my own character, so really exciting to see you covering it as one of my favorite WF youtubers for years on end. It's such a wildly different game, but, I like whenever you cover these types of things. Your GG Strive video is the only reason I caved and bought the game.
@@junta9693 Yeah that's fair. To be fair, a lot of people don't understand how to properly use their portals to move the bullets multiple times, so they end up just firing way more rounds than they need to instead of using them as traps.
I have only ever fought a Wizard once in this game and it felt like I was fighting a boss with how many things there were that I had to avoid

You were the last person I expected to make a YOMI Hustle video, but glad to see you liking it!
My favorite part of the video is when Trib said "Your Only Move is Hustle" and then hustled all over the place.
Seriously though, this game does look genuinely fun! Once I get a good computer, I think I'll try it out. I tend to have a really difficult time with fighting games so maybe this will be a better experience.
Honestly you can probably run it on whatever you have now. Store page recommendations are just 512MB of ram, integrated graphics and 256MB of disk space
I wasnt joking when I said your grandma's laptop can run it

Cool vid, the game seems very original.

The best entry fighting game. And it's barely a fighting game.
Still an amazing game.
Definitely one of the games of all time.

this is a good day for the community. great vid btw.
This might be my new favourite commentary/discussion channel. It's all just so hyped up and expressed in so many funny ways.
...and then I found out that you're a Warframe youtuber and this is your only 1 off side project. Sad cuz this was entertaining as all hell and was actually on a subject I'm interested in
"Ah reckon ahm th' storm that is approachin', pardner."
One thing this reminds me of is my favorite custom stage in smash, called One Way Out. It was a large stage, with a simple flat bottom of solid blocks and walls going all the way up to the top with spikes at the top to prevent players spawning there. The matches were nearly always based on stocks, and your goal is simple: there is one way out. Get them there. It lead to super long matches with truly insane damage numbers, and looked nearly identical to this game's map. It was one of the best maps for an all out brawl with no frills.
6:37 Nothing asserts dominance over an opponent like staring them straight in the eyes and ripping off both of your arms simultaneously. The strongest of men would cower in fear.
New Trib upload and it's on YOMI Hustle?!?!?
this is gonna be a banger
Robot sounds fun, as a Revenant main in Black Magic 2, who has two grabs, a lot of armored moves, and an ability that makes your next move have armor-- it seems like my kind of character!
triburos i cant put into words how much i smiled when i saw you made a video about yomi.
I'd like to add that another weakness that cowboy has is that he has no attacks that can hit a knocked down opponent. Ninja has stomp, wizard has vile clutch, and robot has his entire fucking arsenal to hit you if you've been slammed into the ground. Cowboy, however, can only prepare an attack. it causes a lot of times where the cowboy has to avoid putting the enemy on the ground at any cost, meanwhile the enemy is laughing on the other side of the screen with their DI pointing straight down
In reference to you watching a lot of TAS Smash, I myself have watched quite a bit of TAS Dragonball games, most notably the Budokai Tenkiachi ones. It makes the whole thing actually look like a real-time Dragonball fight all done in a single, uninterrupted shot.
So, someone must have probably mentioned this already but DI isn’t something Ivy invented. It’s a staple of basically all platformer fighting games ever, so, Smash bros and such.
oops i just repeated that and only now found this comment about it
I would absolutely never play, try or even download this game, but man it brought back memories of those stickmen animations

I knew yomi hustle was a fighting game, BUT I DID NOT KNEW IT WAS PLAYED LIKE THIS
0:51 the one true best qte game that makes you FEEL powerful is Asura's Wrath
There is this ONE thing i am most curios about in Y.O.M.I. Hustle: How is TIMING handles here? I know that "Hold" and "Wait" are a thing, but how do you decide when to throw out a move and when not to? In any other fighting game, you can basically input anything anytime, it is simply suboptimal most of the time. But here? How do you choose your timing beyond those specific inputs? Is there a way to do that? And if not, how do i best understand the timing-based moves?
Not sure I fully understand how you worded your question, but I'll try to explain the best to my knowledge. Keep in mind I don't have SUPER deep knowledge so I may be wrong here on some aspects:
Yomi pauses time based on whenever a player is actionable, but there are some limitations to this for the sake of keeping the game at a decent pace since, it's already slow - being turn based and all.
Say both players dont make a move and turns are advanced. The game defaults to advancing 10 frames. You would *think* the game would only advance one frame because neither players are stuck in an action, but I assume it advances 10 just to speed up gameplay a bit. This isn't the *minimum* that the game can advance by, but I mention it to explain that even actions like doing *nothing*, can be thought of as an action. Since it locks you into that nothing state for 10 frames.
Because of this, there are some scenarios in the game where you can't act when you think you'd be able to, which might throw some people off. So for example, say you're at round start, and a Cowboy does Horizontal Slash, whilst you stand still: You're gonna get hit, since doing nothing is classified as an action of 10 frames, and Horizontal Slash comes out sooner than 10 frames. Even though in a normal fighting game, you could act at any time during the start up of the opponent's attack.
With that said, there are ways to control when you're allowed to do certain inputs, yes
For example, if you're in the middle of a dash or certain other types of movement option (or simply staying idle), you will become actionable on the frame the opponent becomes actionable, if applicable. So say you knock them down onto the ground and you wanna do oki: if you wanna time your next action to come out at the same time as their get up animation, you can either wait in place, or do a small dash. The instant they're able to choose their get-up option, you'll also be able to take your turn. That's a *super* basic example and most people will do that naturally without even realizing, but it's a good example nonetheless.
It's important to note though, you have to be in this state, *before* your opponent is able to take action. If you dash at the same time that your opponent is actionable, the game isn't just going to let you act before they slap your face in, even though in a normal fighting game you could act before their move actually connects with you. But if you're already dashing and they get the option to take an action, you'll be given the option to take an action at the same time yourself.
It's hard to explain - especially since I'm not sure if this is what you're asking precisely. But the timings and the whens / hows of when you're allowed to take an action take some time getting used to.
And for the sake of keeping the video shorter, I didnt even go over things like Free Cancels which are *extremely important* to playing against players and can also affect when you become actionable during a turn. Hell they're the bread and butter of 50/50s in Yomi. It's *a lot* to take in so, forgive me for not going in depth about it in the video lmao
No way I haven't heard of this 1 year ago. This is really well done
5:14 I actually have talked to ivy and he has said one of his biggest inspirations was when he used to played brawl with his friends they played it frame by frame like you do in yomi hustle
idk dude fighterz i think is the closest depiction of dragon ball we have, shit is so fast paced if you’re facing an actually good player and it’s mad cinematic
It’s what high level fighting game competitions feel like
honestly i thought for a minute that this game would be like super smash bros on crack with stickmen, but then this is the first time i'm hearing about the controls being like trying to 1v1 a plane.. while also in a plane. i think i might be too dumb for this
Very cool seeing different content outta this channel
Toribash is honestly insane. People could move so fluidly
yk what'd be really silly, only using spark bomb to harass your opponent into having to perform ridiculous moves to deal damage and not get dunked on
The fact you think i cant handle dodging a bullet of of precognition is offensive, but fair.
This is like those old pivot animation movies from the early 2000’s in video game form
i love videogame revolvers, especially against melee opponents.
YOOOOOOO.
I don't think a single person expected Trib to make a video on YOMI of all things. Not like I'm complaining though!
Tried to play this a while ago. I’m glad you’re hyped for it, and glad people find it cool, but honestly I don’t understand the appeal.
I’ve learned to play just about every genre under the Sun, but fighting games still turn my brain to mush, and this… _thing…_ makes my brain start to give off smoke.
My favorite summary of this game is "Violence Chess"
4:04 Ohhhhhhhh. I seeeeeeeee. So Toribash, but to make you feel cool instead of look stupid

also, the mods do NOT hold back, there's from seiropth or however its spelled that can SPLIT THE SUN IN HALF, IN GAME to necromancer, to a guy about the "shock" videos tha tcan clone itself whenever times you want, to a vampire demigod, to seelkadoom from sonic rpg, to random ocs the people do and implement into the game, to characters from popular movies or series (seelkadoom in sonic rpg series, "Lobo" (death) from puss in boots 2, etc), to characters from popular animations/games (bog, gildedguy, the boss guy in shock, seelkadoom and the game, chara, goku, hit...), to joke characters, to just character reskins (there's also stages)
To follow up on your last point; if you're into games where you can still do things while you're getting combod, Killer Instinct is an AMAZING fighting game that you should totally review on your channel!

Playing against a competent Wizard that isn't scared of going into melee very much feels like fighting against a boss- doesn't help that in these cases, the players apparently are psychics, because *_holy_* *_fuck_* are you going to feel like a pamphlet from how easy you got read.
cooperative 2000's flash stickman/dbz-like videogame sprite fight animation creator
This game is just like a 2D version of Toribash, to anyone who doesnt know what Toribash was or is. Its just this game but in 3d and you move each individual joint on a ragdoll like body. Each frame you click certain joints (spheres on the body of the ragdoll like knee back or pecs) and there is a "future ghost" that shows you what will happen as you move it while the other player does the same and you dont know each others moves until the frames start back up again.
side note: i was a 2nd dan black belt in toribash. (ranking is based on how many wins you have and being a black belt just means you won a lot of game over a long period of time)
