Well done you’re getting better…….but not quite Kev yet! Just for info the Vulcan always approached with mid-drag airbrake out and hi-drag selected at around 300 feet. Bill R, the Last Vulcan Captain.
Wow thankyou so much Bill for watching, you have made my week! I'm going to be making another video with XH558 tomorrow now that we have those glorious 201s fitted. I appreciate the tips, you must miss flying the old girl dearly. It was always a pleasure watching you fly. Best wishes to you.
I joined the RAF in 1985 and at the passout parade at RAF Swinderby we had a Vulcan flyover . My Dad at the controls of the camera took more photos of the Vulcan than me in my number 1 uniform marching !! RIP Dad, greatly missed.
I was visiting England once when I was 12 or so, and arrived at Heathrow with one sole thought in my head. This airport is known for serving the Concorde. And guess what I saw through the windows walking from the gate. There she was, as beautiful and mighty as any legend would tell. I couldn't believe my own eyes, I was ecstatic! Oh, the joys of being an aviation enthusiast, especially as a child ❤️
A wonderful story. I wish I'd have seen her flying.
Just Flight have just released a new video showcasing the Olympus 201 engines with that unmistakable HOWL! Go check it out here: ruclips.net/video/UEulwi-kguc/видео.html
The fidelity with which we can replicate these absolute landmarks of aviation history stirs that nostalgic connection we all share to the memories of first seeing them; feeling them rumble the ground.
Very well said 🙂
Great video. My first assignment in the US Air Force was Offutt AFB in 1979, and they still had the RAF support unit for the Vulcan at the time. I got to see this beauty fly at the base Air Show for the last time. The engine sounds were music to my engineer soul.
Thankyou so much for sharing, the final display must have been a tear jerker.
Beautiful bird and beautiful video, Steve! Thanks a lot for the preview. This is a no-brainer for all real enthusiasts. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Just Flight for making it this good AND for letting it go for that little money. That's how you know where their heart is, as if that was ever in question. Thanks for the time stamps, buddy, although I don't really think they are necessary. I felt no need to skip ahead here. Thanks again, all of you, and have an amazing weekend! Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Hear hear!! The JF in house dev team have done a phenomenal job this year and then to top it off, they make this beauty at such a low price. Huge respect for that! I actually forgot to add the timestamps oops. Still, I'm quite surprised to see the average viewing duration for this video is higher than normal! Best wishes from a crisp, cold but sunny UK.
Very nice Steve. But “Delta Lady ?” Generally known as the “Tin Triangle”. Especially by those of us fortunate enough not to work in the Coal Hole, as the rear cockpit was known.
You'll never hear me call her anything else. Thanks for watching Chris 😊
This looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait to have it in my sim, easily the best cockpit textures I've seen to date on any flight sim Vulcan
That engine start I had to rewind and put my headphones on, oh my it gave me goosebumps. .
Well done just flight.
I couldn't agree more Paul, thankyou for watching!
Great review! I was lucky enough to get up close and personal with the Vulcan on static display at the IWM Duxford. I worked in conservation and one of the perks of the job was getting to look around inside some of the aircraft on display. The Vulcan cockpit is very small indeed and looking out to see those huge wings behind you was a quite amazing. A British icon for sure and it's great that JF have immortalised it for us flight sim enthusiasts 😎
Fantastic Pete thankyou for sharing. She is such a brute especially up close and personal.
Hiya, Black Buck was inded a record which stood until it was beaten by the US who flew a bombing mission to Afghanistan and back, I think it was using B-2's. The Avro test pilot who rolled it at Farnborough was Roly Falk who was given a dressing down for flying in a way unbecoming of a bomber haha. Dont forget the Vulcan also has the distinction of nuking the US- twice, during Operation skyshield 1&2 back in the '60's. The first time, it was actually kept an official secret so as not to frighten the American public. The Vulcan is a legendary aircraft, both to look at, to hear (especially the 201 howl) and for her service to the UK as a stand-off deterrent.
It's definitely worth pointing out just how useful the checklist is when it points to each item in the cockpit. Can't emphasize enough how much that helps with learning a complex beast like this. Too many developers take that for granted and simply don't use the 'look and highlight' features of the checklist. Great to see this functionality being used so well.
Great video that really show system depth and that cockpit is massive and impressive. Sounds superb. Instant buy for me when it gets released the 28th. Was hoping I could fly with her this weekend. I'll have to be more patient :-) Have a great weekend Steve.
Thankyou buddy, you'll LOVE this one. Have a fab weekend. Hopefully she will be yours next Tuesday 🤞
Great video and another awesome plane from Just Flight! All the atmosphere and smells of the Hawk in a very big package! When I was a small kid, as opposed to my current big kid status, I saw XH558 before it retired from the RAF. It had "Farewell" written in the bomb bay and I got a perfect photo of it flying over. That picture got published on the news pages of Aviation News. Since then I've had an amazing photographic history with the plane, flying over a Union Flag at Fairford, sitting behind her on the ohotobus while she was idling on the taxiway, flying over Concorde 216 at Filton on her farewell tour, I even got to walk around underneath her with the pilots and crew and the pilots of the Saudi Hawks for a photo shoot at Fairford. Such a beautiful plane, can't wait to fly her! Thank you Just Flight. And I agree about putting her in the BBMF.
Fantastic stuff Steve. I’m impressed how well you knew your way around the cockpit. I should have expected it of course. You’ve been waiting a good while for this beauty.
I think I surprised myself 😁 Thanks for watching Phil, my best to you and your family. Keep up with those flying lessons 🤟
£28 Thats very reasonable :) , Fairplay to the Just Flight Team , Will defo purchase on release
Oh one of my favourites watching that at many air shows as a kid and more recently. I used to love hearing all the car alarms go off back in the day and the rubble in your chest as it took off
Shame it’s no longer flying 😔
I remember seeing this display at an airshow - as it came overhead, you could literally feel the Earth move!
The noise was incredible.
Outstanding
And brilliant from just flight.
Great review of an outstanding cold war bomber, many might not know but the Vulcan was first designed to be flown by a single pilot and indeed during flight testing this was actually the case having read the book Vulcan Test Pilot by Tony Blackman and even flew the aircraft back from Fairford to Woodford with his wife in the right hand seat. Fortunately Avro decided to have 2 pilots instead. Also the reason for the single stick is because using a spectacle type yoke, it would be nearly impossible for a successful ejection as the yoke would cause injury to the pilots' knees due to lack of space affording an ejection.
Goosebumps when the engines start
IKR ❤
That’s one hell of a start up procedure! No wonder I saw you camping out at the gate in that thing for so long the other day 😂 She sounds and looks great bud 😍
Well spotted 😅 It took me a few attempts before hitting the record button let me tell you! Thanks for watching as always buddy.
Was worth it, well put together 👏
oh wow and completely agree with BBMF
Vintage aircraft are not something I usually go for in all honesty. However, having spent many years working from the BT call centre in the center of Lincoln, I have watched this beautiful aircraft flying over the city on a number of occassions. The most memorable was when I made sure to step outside to watch it's final flight as it went overhead, which was an incredible experience, both the sight and sound was fantastic. All of that coupled with the detail and high fidelity modelled shown here makes it to the top of the list for my next purchase 👌
Absolutely 💯 agree. Thankyou for sharing, that must have been such a special moment.
Great video Steve. This aircraft is definitely a must have. The other one for me is the Tornado.
Love the Vulcan! thanks for your review and for your emotions, i've got the same for the Concorde as I'm French, so I understand you.
Thanks so much for your kind words, I'm sad I never experienced the Concorde flying. Best wishes.
Oh my lord
This is incredible.
Absolutely breath taking
Tears of joy inducing
Especially coming from Newark
To watch that tin triangle just fly over Lincoln Cathedral
(PLEASE dont FEEL SILLY, mate. I'M in absolutely tears watching this) ..
id think anyone whose a Vulcan fan , would find it impossible to share a few tears watching this ..
I dont play/watch any flight simulator games or reviews
So I have absolutely no idea how these things work.
I had absolutely no idea of the quality of the landscape 🗺😲
Do they use Google maps or something..
I'm seriously thinking about buying a VR. And the complete simulator chair, flight stick etc set up JUST to fly the Vulcan...
How far can you actually fly in this ??
Could I fly to over my home town
Newark-upon-Trent..
Following the River Trent 😃
That would be truly mental
I'd land on the hawtonville junior school, ( now called King's primary Academy) field, where my old home ( Beech Ave)back garden backs right onto..
Oh my..🤔🫨😳 I could land at RAF syston just 2 miles away from Beech Ave
We really do have our Vulcan back up and over our Lincolnshire skys once again..
Its really moved me
Watching your reviews
10000000% incredible job to the game company
And a bargin price..
For under £30🤑 your flying a VULCAN 😆🤪🤗
Im going to Winthorpe Air Museum very soon
and going into the Avro Vulcan B.2 XM594 cockpit.. and I'm thinking ummmm I wonder??!!! if I brought a VR headset and took it along into the actual Avro Vulcan B.2 XM594 cockpit.. and did the flight simulator .
That would be mind blowing.. 😂😂🤗☺️🫡
grand to hear you so emotional 😊 and rightly so too 🙌🫶👍
I've liked 👍 and just on your Vulcan reviews alone
You've got my subscription
Oh that
HOOOWWWLLLLLL
--------------
I'm off now to blow across the top of a empty glass bottle 🌬💨
🫙 😉😁🤗🤗
Your comments have made my day THANKYOU so much. You can absolutely fly anywhere in the world and most definitely over your own house. The simulator uses Bing maps with clever AI technology to blend everything together using real satellite data. In VR, now we have such high fidelity aircraft like the Vulcan. The experience is absolutely amazing. Again, thankyou so much for watching, I'm glad you feel the same way I do. I hope this has inspired you to embark on this incredible hobby yourself. Please do check out my Discord, we will be able to help you further there. Best wishes.
@VRFlightSimGuy your vulcsns have absolutely made my LIFE ...
THAT SIMULATOR
THAT VULCAN
IS BEHOND WORDS .
SO..
1.. I'm now going to look into getting a full
VR ,
PC
FLIGHT SEAT 💺
FLIGHT STICK
etc
So..
can you buy a
Powdered gyroscope seat
( like what they have at the funfairs ) cuz I wanna go 360° rolling
What's the kind of PC I'D NEED ( I don't use computers at all, I only have my mobile phone) so I've absolutely no idea about computer talk..
And the same for the rest of the required kit
VR Headset..
Can you get the same
Flight stick that's on the Vulcan?
As apposed to the Standard yoke ones??!!
Mate your vulcan reviews
Have got folks all revived up..
And your gonna get a new member into the flight simulator world with me ..
You can really hear your passion, love snd emotions coming out for that Vulcan on your review..
And dam rightly so too.
I reckon that Vulcan simulator
Is going to go absolutely sky high.
Hay..
When I buy all the kit.
There could be a opportunity for you to come to my home in Bristol to help me set it all up.
And that would make an absolutely fantastic video for your fantastic channel.
Ps.. I had absolutely no idea how the landscape graphics are on these simulators
Completely mind blowing
Oh that
HOOOOOWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
AS I said.
We got them VULCANS
BACK UP OVER OUR LINCOLNSHIRE SKYS ONCE AGAIN..
ABSOLUTELY HOY OF JOYS..
Great add on experience..
Doing the rear 3 flight crews
(Out the back from the Coal hole) emergency ejection
That would be awesome 👌
👍🙌👋🤩🤩🤪😜🥳🥳🥳🥳🥰😍💓💗🤗🤗
One of the cooolest looking planes ever!
Greased the landing :)
Thankyou 😊
I promised myself that I wasn’t going to buy any more planes until 2024 comes out, but I’ll be buying this one for sure
I won't forget a day on a foggy beach in the east of Scotland when I heard a roar and the outline of this delta winged nuclear bomber flying right over my head. Must have been back in the eighties. Can't have been flying very high either, and making its way to RAF Leuchars most likely. It definitely makes its presence felt...
Wonderful story thankyou 👌
I think Steve you should reenact the historic flight from the UK to the Bahamas and try to land it underwater as in the 007 film Thunderball 😅
Great idea for a group community flight? 😅😅
@@VRFlightSimGuy Yeah I think it would, presumably you’d need AA-refuling for that distance as well (I’ve only ever done that in DCS btw)
How do you compare this MSFS version to the X-plane version which you previously reviewed? X-plane version is on offer from Just Flight today on Black Friday.
I tell you in the video 👍
@@VRFlightSimGuy oops 👀
I got the Vulcan yesterday. I actually liked it so much I then bought it in Xplane as well so I could get the silky smooth Xplane FPS to compare. The Xplane version is surprisingly good. Cockpit looks very nice, lights and bulbs the only real downgrade. The big difference is the sounds. Xplane version sounds almost like stock sounds with that ‘Thunderbird 1’ cockpit whine and no low end blast behind the engines when external. Will learn to fly it in Xplane, then transfer to MSFS when I am more competent to handle the lower FPS and MSFS’ clunky menus etc.
Edit: P.S. My FPS problem in MSFS is a sim and PC problem when around airports, nothing to do with the module

Uwe! Oh my goodness such a fantastic comment 😁 You've absolutely made my day buddy. Have a wonderful weekend 🍻❤️
Epic bird! Brings back many happy memories, and totally agree XH558 should be with the BBMF. Have they modelled 'the howl'? Was hoping to hear it on your spiral climb.
This preview build features only the Olympus 301 engine sounds, which we recorded from a real Vulcan (XM655). The 301s didn't have the significant howl sounds that the 201s fitted to XH558 did, so this is true to life. The release build will include both 201 and 301 sounds, including the howl.
@@scottphillips9795 Grand! Think I'll be spiraling all day in the 201s 😀Can't wait! Congratulations to all at Just Flight for keeping this bird alive. Maybe the English Electric Lightning next folks? 😀
For £27 this is an absolute bargain. Study sim level modules usually retail for nearly twice that price. Hats off to Just Flight! Purchased yesterday 😎👍🏻
Totally agree
Dude, why don’t you use ‘End’ on your keyboard to switch between internal and external?
In sim checklist. Sold. Don't even show me any more... SOLD!
IKR... Plus, it's been done SO well too
I hope if this sells well, they consider porting their Canberra too.
Thanks for the kind comments although bear in mind this is really far from a port. Canberra is a favourite of ours but the commercial prospects for it are too slim I'm afraid so that's not likely to be a thing anytime soon. Thanks for the interest.
Do we get a Vulcan howl externally from front angle ? I didn't hear it?
I'm glad you asked, the Olympus 201 engine sounds are still be developed and will be ready for release. I did mention this in my video but sadly I had to cut that out due to mic issues.
@@VRFlightSimGuy cheers for the info 👍
One of the coolest planes of all time
I feel like I waited aaaaaaaaaaallll day for this one. It has not been, but still. Alllllllll Daaaaaaaaaaaay!
😅😅 I hope the video did not disappoint. Just Flight has knocked it out of the park with this one.
Awesome.
Black Buck missions were the longest at that time. They have since been surpassed by American missions over Iraq and Afghanistan.
But if you consider the amount of tankers needed to refuel the Vulcans, or rather, Vulcan (as one had to turn home due to depressurisation), it's still by far the most impressive.
@@VRFlightSimGuy Most certainly - I was just responding to you wondering whether the record still stood at 1:52. Just Flight have done an incredible job with the Vulcan - I hope they will revive their Canberra PR.9 for MSFS too.
@@paulkirkland3263 Ahh yes, I forgot I said that in the video thanks 😁
@@VRFlightSimGuy Keep up the good work. 🙂
@@paulkirkland3263 Thankyou that's much appreciated!
Tell me they've put the 'Vulcan Howl' into the sound!
Read the pinned comment 👍
hoping we get an official F16 one day
Sold!
No Vulcan howl on take-off :(
Pinned comment 👍
I though the nick name was the 'Tin Triangle'?
I always hated that nickname, hence why you'll never hear me say it in my videos.
I don't use it either, It is a Vulcan to me having spent time staying at RAF Waddington base in 1982. Just after the Black Buck missions. Not heard of Delta Lady before.@@VRFlightSimGuy
