I bought two complete atr800s, one 50% working and one 25% working about a year ago and managed to piece together one fully functioning machine! Just found your vids but there’s some good info in here!
The ATR-800 was not made by ampex but built for ampex by teac. So it is a bit different than the American made ones. For a point of reference I have one setting 8 ft from me as I type.
