Cinderella Runs in Smash 4

- If you don't know what a Cinderella run is en.wikipedia.o...)
"the terms Cinderella, 'Cinderella story', and Cinderella team are used to refer to situations in which competitors achieve far greater success than would reasonably have been expected. Cinderella stories tend to gain much media and fan attention as they move closer to the championship game at the end of the tournament"
Yes I got inspired to do this from bignokh.com/20...
I'll be explaining why I chose these runs if anyone is confused:
MKLeo @ Smash Factor 4: This tournament was before MKLeo was known as a top player outside of Mexico, and was Leo's first major tournament. Back then, Meta Knight was not considered a high/top-tier character, which added to the surprise of when a 14 year old kid beat the man who placed 2nd at EVO 2015. Leo showed the world what Meta Knight was capable of and afterwars MK was perceived by many to be a top-tier character. Abadango later picked up the character (and said MK was a top 2 character on his tier list pbs.twimg.com/..., but funnily enough Abadango is probably the primary reason Meta Knight got nerfed when he won Niconico Tokaigi 2016 in front of Sakurai.
iStudying @ B.E.A.ST 6: M had a very impressive run at BEAST 7 with Shulk and placing 3rd, but I included iStudying over M due to the attendance of top American players ESAM and MVD that iStudying upset, and shocked many with his high-level Greninja play. BEAST 6 is definitely one of the smaller tournaments on here but iStudying's run is memorable to many and his set with ESAM is considered to be one of the greatest sets in Smash 4 ( / rsmashbross_2016_20_be... )
Abadango @ Pound 2016: This remains Abadango's best performance at a tournament. What makes it even more special is that no one had expected him to win with Mewtwo. Mewtwo was actually considered a bad character by many (VoiD won Glitch low-tier using the character just a few weeks prior), but this quickly changed after Abadango's 1st place using exclusively Mewtwo except vs Dabuz (where he used MK)
Kamemushi @ EVO 2016: Kameme actually said in an interview ( / kamemushi_i_won_umebur... ) that he was going to win EVO. He was also arguably the best player in Japan at the time, winning multiple tournaments over top players like Komorikiri. So for some it may not be that surprising that he placed second, but he still managed to do so with a character many considered not very good, and he did it beating the three best Sheik's (one of Mega Man's hardest matchups) and 3-0ing ZeRo.
Dath @ Shine 2016: Nobody expected Dath to place top 3 at Shine, or a Robin to place so highly. But he did it, beating Marss, 6WX (twice), SuperGirlKels and Larry Lurr, losing only to ZeRo and ESAM. In an interview at Shine he said Robin is top 20. I'm not sure if he still feels this way, but it goes to show that many people started thinking Robin could be a high-tier char. I mentioned earlier VoiD got 1st in Glitch low-tier with Mewtwo, and later mewtwo had a great performance. Dath got 2nd there with Robin and later he had a great performance. Makes you think.
Tsu @ Frostbite 2017: Tsu shocked many by getting 2nd, and almost winning the entire thing with Lucario- beating Tweek, Kameme, Salem and VoiD, also taking a set from ZeRo before losing to him in a very close game 10 grands, which are considered to be some of the best sets in Smash 4. It is VERY impressive Tsu managed to get 2nd at his first major outside of Japan, he was certainly not seeded to get 2nd.
T & Fatality @ 2GGC: Civil War: These are probably the craziest runs in the video, due to Civil War having so many upsets. I don't think anyone expected Link and Falcon to be in the top 3 of one of the most stacked tournaments of all time. This tournament had MANY cinderella runs (Locus and HIKARU in top 8 as well, and some people who narrowly missed top 8) but I picked these two since they achieved top 3 at a tournament where MKLeo somehow placed 65th and ZeRo 49th. Fatality was seeded 22nd, and T was 66th. Wow.
If you are wondering why some runs aren't included, I plan on making a part 2 that includes many other memorable runs, unless no one watches this video. Hopefully in between that time there will be more iconic runs.
"If he's mars, then Abandgo is Pluto because that was cold as hell"
They may have got 2nd place but these "Cinderella" runs deserve a happily ever after.
Some got first
Tsu is adorable, I hope to see more of him soon.
Nothing better than popping off for clips you've already seen that happened more than a year ago.
Clips like these don't age
TSU IS THE BEST
And insanely cute, too
My favorite set of all time
Tsu is like Lucario- cute and deadly.
Love your icon
tsu vs zero at frostbite was the best grandfinals i've ever seen
I'd say the big miss was Kirihara winning Frame Perfect Series 2 by double eliminating ZeRo
The Silver Swordsman part 2
Did you not read the end?
I don't know if I will have it in part 2 actually, it was streamed by MVG and MVG doesn't like it when i use their footage :p
Tsu’s smile is something that must be protected
Thanks for making this video! I loved how you can see Tsu in the crowd cheering hard for T even after he was eliminated! And Dabuz with the most awkward pop-off ever, almost embarassing XD. Get pumped or don't bruh
So basically, good underdog runs?
Weeaboo Jones yeah that’s what a Cinderella run is
Beautiful - with smash for switch coming soon this was such an awesome recap of some of the highlights of the past couple years, all of these runs being some of my favs in the history of competitive smash. Thanks for the effort, BrickNGames. It really paid off with a great video :)
“let’s see how T handles this Rosalina” -skips ahead to Dabuz awkward fist bumping- ):
Shout-out to Dabuz for having the most awkward pop-off of all time
Runs like these never get old. Thanks for the vid.
18:42 pop off Vicious
12:43 THE SCREAMING IN THE BACKGROUND I LIVE FOR IT
Those edits was lit ! Thanks a lot for this video
i forgot about dath's run, that was pretty impressive
As a Swede, I can only hope you put M's run at beast 7 in the next video :D
Japanese players are so cute and so nice ^.^
The serious-ass handshake between Dath and ESAM @ 10:23 got me lmao
2016 was a pretty dope year for smash 4.
Looking at T, I wished he beat Tsu- at West Side Saga so that I could see T vs. ZeRo.
Pretty hilarious how they were popping off over Leo and now he’s expected to win nearly every tournament
Bro fatality link at civil war was a legendary set lmfao
cant wait for pt 2! but omg i remember watching frostbite and the memories of Tsu beating everyone always takes me back.
It just goes to show that even if you don't play a top 15 character if you work hard and never give up on your goals you too can get second place at a majors.
Solid smash 4 content as always, BrickNGames
esam vs iStudying was hype asf!!
So wait lucario becomes stronger when he gets damaged?
yes
Lucario has a unique mechanic where he can build aura and the more damage he racks upon himself, the stronger his moves get. Of course, since Smash 4 and Ultimate introduced the rage mechanic, Luke's Aura mechanic doesn't seem that special now.
You just noticed that?
These are all amazing matches, but Tsu's run at Frostbite was just something else, it was ZeRo's most Stressing match ever, and he even admitted " Tsu was never scared of me "
I just hope i see Tsu and Lucario in Ultimate, i really need to see him play some more :^')
I feel like when T beat Tsu, he was shocked, but then his confidence grew as he progressed in the bracket.
When I saw the title for this i thought it meant Cinderella was running for smash 4 president
19:49 "YOUR POP OFF SUCKS!" LMAO
yoo leo called it that he would two stock zero... zero's last two tournaments ever Leo two stocked him
Samuel .Watson leo got 6-0d by ZeRo
Tweek's small reactions playing Tsu are freaking me out man
really good video
Tsu's run at Frostbite 2017 should be called "The Rocky Run".
Why was the default 2 stocks in Smash 4 and 3 now in Ultimate?
I don’t know. I think 2 stocks wasn’t enough because it barely allowed for any comebacks. I think it should have always been 3 stocks.
I respect tsu and ZeRo both incredibly talented and nice people
This comment didn't age well
@@SirStrikeFreedom ikr lul I did an oopsie
All of the games showcased here were all bone chilling.
Kirihara at FPS2 is a necessity
I would've included it in this one but MVG always comments on my vids to not use their footage
for part 2, you should have Yeti's run at the last Big House
It would be a crime not to put t and fatality im this vid, t is the player who inspired me to push forward and get better, so i may someday be in his place.
please make a part two this video was dope
Where is Adom? (9th at SYNDICATE 2017) and Gungnir (17th Umebura Major 2017)? I know that is not SO impressive but for a Ganondorf main is a huge achievement btw
D1s commentary for Tsu was so funny
5:39 look at Abadango's friend, taking a hit from Abadango lul
OLEEE OLEEE OLEE OLEEEEEE!!!
TOO STOK
TOO STOOOKKK

Yay for Tsu! :)
Top ten people mentioning Mewtwo King by mistake. LOL

Nice video
Por greninja has been nerfed to much to the point where you rarely see one in a tournament :(
Rip Void. :(
Hikaru at civil war
Link is broken
Not the character, I mean the wiki link in the description
Link actually is broken tho
lol
I love how each comment progressively got more likes lmao
who else cried when tsu got second
The set between ZeRo and Tsu hurts me every time bc I wish Tsu won
Fatality has always looked weird to me. Idk what it is.
Tsu vs. ZeRo was the best for sure
Tsu is so sick
2:48 esam is fucking beautiful
Fatality is c. falcon.
istudying fell off the face of the planet what happened to him?
That’s the good stuff
that's cool
Esam sucking the life out of his opponent XDD
ranai at genesis
please get Hikaru in the next video!
Tus toc
The mewtwo part pissed me off because I can't fathom how he has that free stun move, great mobility, high ass attack, and such an unbalanced setup.
The only excuse I know of:
Light weight, low defense.
But when you have high damage, the greatest knockback in the game in spite of this, mobility preventing closeups(Grabs), and he can deflect projectiles back at you.
As well as his uncanny ability to annihilate shields, insta-stun to death, and none-existing lag for basically everything, given you'll most likely never have the opportunity to exploit the lag anyway, he'll often land as far from a grab as possible, to recover.
One weakness doesn't mean balance, having nothing but doesn't mean weak,
But for the things good in the world...
Mewtwo can shoot projectiles, and if you manage to deflect back, he's going to double-up and exploit your own deflection back at you like it's a zelda boss.
16:44 what was that 💀💀💀
WITH LINK
Nairos smash con run isn't a cinderella run?
HaganeGinga it's Nairo tho. Not a Cinderella story with a top player.
Nairo is big gay
10:06 that sonic main made SO many mistakes that I would have to make a list of just how dumb that was for the plays he made.
Wtf japanese... "dabuze suck"?? Oh..my.. god...
when you thought Brawl was rock bottom...
9:45 as a sonic main I cringed at that play..
Rosa is a terrible matchup for Falcon
Am I the only one who feels an immense sense of satisfaction from ZeRo losing to Mega Man and Lucario after bitching so hard about Bayonetta being the reason why he's been slipping?
Bruh he lost to MM before Bayo was released and Lucario is not even that good, Tsu just had his number for a bit. Besides, Zero won the tournament. He's just saying Bayo is dumb not that he was slipping cus of her ;o
before Bayo was released????Lucario not that good??? What the heck!?
He bitched about Lucario, continues to say even to this day that Lucario rewards players who play badly.
I contend that point and say that Lucario rewards patient players who don't throw their lives away. Tsu doesn't get aggressive enough with Lucario until he's at KO percents, and he needs to not do that.

too loud, even at the lowest possible volume, downvoted. fix ur volume
I'm wearing earphones and I'm at mid volume. It's fine. Fix your speakers.
This is why Sm4sh is trash. Every character has one best combo that youre always gonna go for. Sorry for comparing it with Melee but there's way more variety in combos.
Gabriel Castejon Did you actually just say a game is trash based on ONE aspect of it? Smh
Is combos everything in smash? Just asking
Jerico Robles combos are definitely not everything. There are many more aspects like neutral, advantage state, disadvantage state, recovery, reads, match up knowledge, and the list goes on.
Kind of jealous of these people being able to get so hyped over a game that is so boring to watch.
Omg sooo slow and boring to watch
