I bought a MacBook Air M1 two days ago, I tried to use an external drive, when connected, not all files are showing. Just a few. I know the files are there because when connected to a PC, the files show up just fine and with Disk Utility it shows the space is used. However can't see the files. It may cause an interruption in the processes because your computer may be put in sleep mode. Check with your specific model on the Apple site to be certain.
So, I have a Zip drive that had pictures saved to it from a windows computer in the past that had to be password locked. None of those pictures are showing up when I open the drive in my Mac now and it won't let me save anything on the drive from my Mac currently. How do I re-format the drive so it'll work on Mac AND or windows when viewing files, and without deleting the old pictures? Please help!!!

Hello there, I have a 2TB USB and I have changed the settings to MS-DOS Fat32 so I can play movies on my TV, however, the drive only takes a certain amount and then other folders I put across appear empty and no files can be shown or seen (but space is taken up??) I never have issues with other smaller size USB's at this setting. I got the larger size to lessen the amount of times I have to erase the smaller sizes. Can you offer any advice on how to fix this issue please. I have searched everywhere on youtube and I have come up blank. By the way, this is for a mac computer. Many Thanks

I download ultrasound pics and video clips to a USB thumb drive and then want to download them to my MacBook Pro. I am able to download the pics, but I get a message that the videos are not compatible with Quicken. Is there another way I can do this?
I’m able to save my students’s progress reports on my USB but when I try to print them at the school’s printer the progress reports will not show.😢 But if I save my progress reports on a USB from my old Samsung laptop the progress reports show automatically once I insert the USB into the printer. Any suggestions?
There might be a limitation on the files or the source you are saving it from which is preventing them from being printed. You may want to check with your IT Dept to see if they can assist you with this as well.

It can be located on the front, back or side of your system. Check to make sure that it's a USB drive slot before inserting the USB drive. Check the user manual or with the manufacturer to confirm, inserting the drive in a different port can cause damage.

I am using a USB-C based flash drive on my Macbook Retina 12inch (Early 2015 Model A5134) connecting it to the USB-C port and its working fine. However, when I want to use a flash drive with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 (Old model with Blue color) flash drive through a USB 3.0 to USB-C type multi port Hub with Power Delivery then the flash drive is not detected and does not seem to be mounted. The limitations may be due to the type of adapters you are using to connect the USB Type-A drives, whether 2.0 or 3.0. Tried on Windows 10 and it wants to format the drive when I insert it. Windows 7 doesn't show it without effort, but can be seen in Disk Management, but then can't do anything with it. The internet says the way the partitions are set-up on Windows 7 look like it is a Mac formatted USB drive. :/ Any Mac tools available to see this drive and hopefully save data off of it? Maybe it was created in an older MacOS?

Kingston Technology I guess you didn't understand the word "application", from a program, you know, like word, excel. No drag and drop! Click open file, then where do you go to find the USB from there?
If the file is a Word or Excel file, opening it on the USB drive will launch the program associated with that type of file automatically. If you already have the application running, click open and locate the USB drive to open the folder and see the files contained.
Kingston Technology I was using word and excel as examples, I need to go through the open feather. Ok, I'm in Microsoft word, I click open file, then, where do I go to find the file on my USB

In finder preferences, turn on devices, disks, etc. so that they show up on your desktop. You can then drop the selected files into the folder to save them.

They are probably in a format that QuickTime player does not support. Try downloading VLC and open them with that.

That format should work. You can also use NTFS if needed, but only when transferring from android to Mac.

It's best to keep a back up of all files, sometimes USB drives get damaged or fail. We recommend having 2 copies of the files for your records.

If the file is a Word or Excel file, opening it on the USB drive will launch the program associated with that type of file automatically. If you already have the application running, click open and locate the USB drive to open the folder and see the files contained.

Thanks! Installed like you said, I shift select like you said, but how do you actually save all the files over to the USB drive?
In finder preferences, turn on devices, disks, etc. so that they show up on your desktop. You can then drop the selected files into the folder to save them.
