I love wonder woman as a character but I've never really been into her own series. But I really loved Dead Earth. Great story. And the weirdest to me is that the art is not typically a style I would be fan of, even with great skills that I respect, but it works perfectly with the tone of the book and I wouldn't imagine it different. Basically Hippolyta became Echidna the mother of monsters in Greek myth, which is an amazing parallel between the two. Hippolyta is the matriarch of the Amazons, who in turn become the (hatra don’t no how it’s spelled) she has a serpent like grotesque form or what I thought it looked like anyway. Echidna is the mother of monsters, some of who fought great heroes. She is also half woman half snake living alone in a cave just how we are reintroduce to Hippolyta. I enjoyed this immensely and definitely pick it up. Fantastic video guys 👍🏾
27:02 The closest thing to a "god of strategy" is probably Athena, who tends to be Diana's Olympian patron anyway. (She also tends to be the patron of other mythological heroes, notably Odysseus). 36:00 Holy crap that's an awesome page.
Part of Athena's shtick in myth was that she was the patron of heroes. Odysseus, Heracles, Jason and the Argonauts, basically watching heroes do heroic shit and, like, giving them guidance and favors was her idea of a good time.
Superman, Batman, Green Lantern characters partners all have spin off series. meanwhile its usually just one Wonder Woman story at a time despite having groups.
Amari Student I think it’s cause not many people really know how to write Wonder Woman. That could be because she’s such a responsibility to not ruin or because whatever but I find when they do her right it’s always something like this
I completely agree. I didn't grow up with much wonder woman stuff but doesn't that say something when 1/3 of your trinity didn't get a movie for like 70 years and is easily miss construed. They also need to do a whatever happened story with her like with superman and batman. get someone really into wonder woman and is also a sorta big shot in the industry and have them do a fitting send off for the character.
Books like dead earth are the kind of comic stories I really love and cherish. A distillation of the core character that emphasizes their strength of character and shows why we recognize them as our heroes. Im so glad I decided to check this book out thanks to Tiffany's recommendation and im really happy to see it done on back issues. Great work as always guys. Can't wait to see what else you've got in store 🙌
I can’t believe I’ve been watching this channel for about a year and I’m just now learning sal and Tiffany are married. I’ve said to myself multiple times dang these good friends have such good chemistry 😂
It's always fun to see Ben and Ethan predicting some of the scenes way too early and Sal has to keep them from exploring that idea further, in order to save the surprise.
Didn't expect you guys to cover this so soon but glad you guys did. It's a modern classic in my opinion. I dug this series and bought the last issue a few weeks ago when it was released. There's something I love about Daniel Warren Johnson's art style. I don't know what is, could be how rough it feels. I'm used to comicart emphasizing perfection but with his you can practically feel the texture

It's a shame that I wasn't even aware of this amazing book. The art and tone reminds me a lot of Vertigo's Sweet Tooth. This really is very metal, but in service to the story instead of just doing something grotesque or shocking for the sake of it.

I liked this comic book a lot. One thing I wish they'd done however, was put more emphasis on Wonder Woman's, and the Amazons' guilt over the fact that the apocalypse was their fault rather than humanity's. Diana's mother kept saying how humanity didn't deserve them, but in a twist of irony, it was actually the Amazons who actually caused the war that ultimately ended the world. Humanity only launched the nukes at Themyscira in an act of desperation because they were on the verge of losing the war against the Amazons, who were refusing to make peace. This in turned caused Wonder Woman to go berserk, and kill Superman, destroying the world in the process. Consumed by guilt, Wonder Woman would be forced to admit that the Amazons weren't any different than humanity, and that she herself wasn't the perfect champion that she'd always thought she was. Wonder Woman's problem wouldn't be the question of whether humanity deserved her, but whether SHE deserved THEM.
