My inner child seeing tabletop games like this is screaming for Pokémon, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, and so many more awesome possibilities. Perhaps we might only see them with Nintendo's possible headset in a couple of years.
Well in the world we live in, we could be waiting all our lives (good chunk) for things to come down and they always will. New tech muscles in and pushes old techy out cheaper. Live life in the NOW and enjoy the stuff ASAP I say, who knows where we be tomorrow, next week next year....
My quest 2 also have the Oculus branding :D Treasured pieces they are, get rid of them i will not :D I have a quest 3 and i 3D printed a headset wall mount that has OCULUS on it haha.
6:02 we also need better optimised games. I don’t want to get a whole drive just for one game. Especially if the movie files are uncompressed when they could be compressed and still be just as good in quality.
Also remember you can grab any numerous codes out there for ANOTHER $25 credit before activating your quest... so $125 for a standalone headset is absurdly cheap!!!
OOF TBH asgards wrath 2 is one of the only things worth doing on the quest platform. Even when you bundle PCVR with it, there's not much worth doing on Steam either except for Alyx. Take it from someone who's been in VR for 6 years now and has 4 headsets. I'm done coping. Who wants to experience the same jank they experience in normal flatscreen games like clipping and visible voids, rubber banding, loading and pop in...but in VIRTUAL REALITY?!??! It's so freakin stupid. I feel like an idiot for buying into VR for so long.
I just hope more people can be honest with themselves and the tech. or it's just gnna keep going at this slow pace where nothing changes. Toxic positivity is probably the worst thing in the world right now.
I just sold my Launch day Quest 2 for £150, then got the Quest 3 and loving it. The colour passthrough is actually better than I expected given the reviews I read. My only gripe is the battery sucks but I always used a battery pack with my Quest 2 anyway so no big deal. Tried Asgards Wrath 2, I'm not sure If I like it, only an hour in so far so maybe I just gotta play some more.
@@nobbyfirefly57 Idk yet, 7 hours in now and the high rating makes me want to like it but I just haven't enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. Maybe just not for me.
I feel like Meta is just using VR as a vessel to prototype AR. All these features being promised should have came with the Quest Pro. Been promising all these AR features forever now. I haven't seen it implemented even once. It's such a useless and gimmicky feature.
could IGN be sus. money makes biased. but if its objectively good by all measures and just super then why not. so they mean grants then without asking anything back. so what you need for board games in VR (and real life), yes only some images and objects. and ability to move them around. really nothing else. maybe physics for dice. you dont need any game specific logic. just the environment basic functionality. players are the logic. avoid selling yourself. including to yourself. or so called significant others.
fr when i got my quest 3, I just gave my best friend (who really wanted a vr and couldnt afford one) the headset for free bcoz selling it would just be stupid and i would get so little money when i could just be able to play w my friend
I've been loving my Vision Pro, I haven't checked out WebXR content yet so maybe I'll give that a go. Seeing your real hands and arms in VR is quite an experience when you have good lighting for hand occlusion, Moon Rider would be neat.
Quest 2 (128 Gb) still sell for 302 USD Sweden, for Sweden that is okay, but some stores sell it as high as 425 USD (4500 Sek), and the Quest 3 cost 663 USD :-( So I wait for a new Quest 2+ that Meta will sell under the name Quest 3 to fool folk that it have some of the functions as quest 3 have, dut in reality it will be much closer to Quest 2, but with a better CPU and a color passthrough that will just be slightly useful to navigate in room but not much more.
I still can't accept that incredible fact that modern VR is officially cheaper than modern PC gaming. for $200, I can build potato PC to play some old online shooters and (to the Void with it) dota 2. OR, I can sacrifice the graphics quality a bit and try out some really cool experiences. sadly, Quest 2 (and 3) cannot double as Android programming machine in a comfortable way
I am very gappy the price of Q2 is going down, its abgreat headset i use it with VD with my pc (i5-10400/4060Ti) and it works amazing, do not plan to uodaye i got it about 2 geats ago for 200 on ebay, I really hope thid can get more people (that already have good PCs) into vr
It’s still all very expensive here in Australia 😵💫 and not easily available. Can only find them in one type of shop here. Dont even have them at the usual games shop that I go to and don’t think they ever did. So yeah. They need to reduce the price in Australia and get more stock in. I wanna get the quest 3 and quest pro controllers but can’t even find the controllers and the quest 3 512 gig is 1200 bucks!!! Stupidly over priced
imho Quest 2 isn't even worth $200. It's uncomfortable even with comfort mods that I would categorized as a necessity. You get what you pay for, now more than ever.
i could write a comedy skit for SNL videoing me trying to use the quest 2. Every single time there is some sort of issue and i'm not a fricking programmer or mod user! they send you Bot message replies and never help you fix the issue unless its 15 steps. I cant figure out how to send you my data on my hard drive on why it wont work "Steve" from India!!!!!!!
If they do bring table top games to Quest 3, I want them to be like Demeo with lot's of content, if playing Monopoly, I want Houses to look like Houses and change as they get upgraded as well as real looking pieces we move about, real train stations as well as a real Gaol, it would be a whole new experience over a flat board with plastic pieces. Snakes and Ladders could be a totally new experience as well as the snake could look realistic and actually grab you and move you down or depending on age of players be more or less frightening :). So many options and opportunities as far as AR and MR, am looking forward to the future
So they're gonna scan all our rooms and furniture and items in rooms and see what products we have in our homes, just to start send us even more personalized ADS! I could see them using the room mapping for THAT data.
Just like Google searches and targeted ads on social media? When people want the cool tech, people get the cool tech. This is also going to give these devices spatial common sense, making the entire user experience smoother.
@3:16 i dont see that making things better "in everyday lives" but it would certainly make things easier when setting up a room instead of having to enter in every object box manually. Not that i use the AR/MR much at all, what titles are up on the app store are insanely overpriced for the amount of coding work that was actually put into them.
I have actually tinkered with the Meta SDK on unity and they already have something similar to this for spawning objects only on the floor or walls, but only in a super basic form. which still needs you to set up the room first. Im pretty sure this can help all devs in very specific needs of their apps. I can see this actually help us in our daily lives *in vr*
it's still AU$359.99 in Australia, which is just too high & harder to consider since Australia is Top no.1 highest cost of living crisis in the OECD. even after currency conversion, i can't see it selling faster in Australia at that price.
Web part of WebXR has too much of an overhead to build anything more complex than a simple scene, composed out of multiple colored primitives. Think of why browsers didn't pick up 3d games and apply that to VRChat's native performance.
Yeah, I found this out the hard way, tried to sell a 256GB quest with some mods even, and got less than a third of what was paid for it. Depreciation sure is a bitch, but $125 for a vr headset sure is a steal for some lucky bastard.😂 And here I was thinking PCs depreciated quickly. Although, $125 sure does me better than a headset that seems to be losing its worth/functionality by the second. Taught me to just wait until we have the definitive standalone headset that might actually last a bit longer.
Just so you know, in europe at least, you have a 2 week window to return electronic items for a refund no questions asked so you might still have a bit of time to return it (and either buy another one cheaper or wait for 3 lite ^^ )
In my country anything below 200$ can be imported tax free which normally would be around 120-150$ so is even cheaper. I already have quest 2 but really hope quest 3s will be same price.
They are. Quest 2 standalone natively runs at like 45fps, and it gets boosted to upto 72fps. Quest 3 has a faster processor, but this is still happening to make it feel smoother at 90fps, some even at 120fps. It's a top of the line mobile chip with good ventilation, but it's still a mobile chip running VR lol
