Thanks, Alex, always something helpful and I save these kind of videos to a playlist to access when I´m editing, because you are a true gent and put named chapters in for us.
Guys, he is the Best of the Best, you can watch any other Davinci resolve creators channels but anyone of them going to make your life so easy as Alex do it. Don't forget to drop a like,ok?,thank you.
I was looking at one of your old RUclipss yesterday - a MUCH younger-looking guy :) and it's obvious you're getting the hang of this Lol. Thanks for some great tips by the way!
I love you !! ♥️♥️ Many things i have watched before into one tutorial + some new ones. I wish youtube had a 'my favorites' option, so i could keep this one on top of my library! Looking forward to your next tutorial !
Loving everything else though! I wondered how to 'render all' my different projects at the same time the other day, figuring there must be a way! Thanks for showing us that there is! Incredible...
Once again a super helpful video. You have saved me so much time, my marriage, electricity, patience, my life, my cats life. And I dont even have a cat. But I´m grateful. So thank you 🙌
This is great for initial setup for a new user like me! Thank you for this. I didn’t know Resolve was this straightforward and versatile. Your channel is worth it! Everyone new and advanced should know about it.
You're video arrived at the right time for me as I am currently working on YT Shorts (vertical mode, project & timeline settings, scaling the frames, etc.). That's a great refresh, thanks mate!
Alex! Big fan of your channel! I have bought a few of your plugins and use them REGULARLY! SO GOOD. I just wanted to let you know about a "bug" or something that you might want to fix in your Zoom plugins. When I edit my videos, I use a lot of pictures, and in the media area, I click on them and automatically scale them to fit the screen. (I may have even learned about this trick from your videos. GREAT times saver.) I do that, then apply a Magic Zoom effect to my desired pictures. But then when I add any transition, the pictures will automatically revert back to their original scale, so I have to go in manually and adjust the scaling in the Zoom plugin to fit the screen. Not a deal-killer, but it seems like a little bug that takes away any time I saved. Anyway, just thought you would want to know. Thank you again for your hard work!
Hoping youll see this because i know youve made a video on this before but how to you save a timeline like a preset like with the name and setting youve made so when you create a new project you can just import it in as the template for your next project
we love you Alex, i cant express what a legend you are, your amazing, im hoping one day you will show us a video on how you clone yoursef in davinci resolve, i noticed you have done this a few times where there is another you lol
Has anyone brought up the fact that having the "Media Storage" as an option in the edit page instead of the "Media Pool" window would be so nice?? I hate having to drag my music folder into the media pool every time I save a new song to the folder outside of davinci. I wish I could grab straight from the source folder through davinci. Much like the media browser in Premiere. If anyone has any suggestions or maybe I'm missing something obvious, let me know! 🙏 Btw thanks for all your content Alex! You're my go-to guy for learning davinci!
@@MADLM i edited the question a bit for clarity. if you're suggesting moving the media storage panel, I can't drag it. but i think you mean the music folder in this case. which I can drag in, but if i were save a new song i got online to the folder outside of davinci, inside davinci it doesn't update. that's the issue i run into.
@@JackSather I understood what you said. You want to have media storage panel instead media pool to access directly to the media you update/move/create. It would be really nice to have this feature as you say but for now just drag the file wherever it be into davinci and done.
Cool video... getting inn to DR... loving it. Coming from PP... I have a couple of questions. 1) The right thing to do when it comes to creating the "projects" in the settings option, is to create then different presets, lets say 1080P, 4kUHD or 4k DCI... then choose accordingly... I can do this I suppose regardless of me creating proxies correct? For example I have 6K or 8K footage... I want to work on a 4K Time line, (also deliver in 4K) so I create the 4K project setting and then I create proxies (Proress proxy)? 2) Where does DR keeps the projects saved? I get really confused with that... (I am used to PP...) & 3) The right way to create those black bars is obviously to shoot in the right "ratio" from camera.. but only high end cinema cameras have that option. So if I have to create them as you did, do you know or have the exact cropping percentage for the 3 basic most used ratios? 16x9...2.35 & 2.40...1.85...? Thank you in advance! cheers!
Thanks Mr. Alex. I have a question. Do you have a video on proxy generation or optimization? What if after proxy generation or optimization, the playback still lag and choppy? Thanks.
Great tips! Thank you. I have a question. When you have a cut-out mask, how do you put like a bold line around it? Not sure if you have done it in a previous video? I want to put a picture of myself which I cut out by using a mask and put it on top of a picture/video and have a nice bold line around it.
thanks Alex, but when i change in portrait mode from the little menu on the cut page then go to, retime scaling then scaling and click crop it never fully zooms in, i have to manually zoom in to fill top and bottom???
AWESOME! Thank you. Also, can you change the defaults inside specific plugins? For instance, I'd love to change the default to 0 in the blanking fill plugin under source --> crop.
6:00 Don't forget that this affects your proxy's if you have them set to half resolution they will halve in size in the window. Confused the heck out of me for a while.
I always enjoy your teaching. Easy to follow and enjoyable. But...using the Title Preset lesson in Davinci 18, I don't have the Magic Wand icon showing in the inspector. I created a Lower Third title and can't seem to save it. Going directly into Fusion doesn't show the Title at all. Any thoughts?
Hey Alex, I am new to Resolve but not entirely newbie at editing and, I really get confused by the cut tab, I mean, there is a lot of function I do not use and it feels like I could be more effective if I learned how to use it properly. Also, at the time of writing, I still don't know how to cut a single clip by secs, like if I got from a job I need to cut the video at 0:26 and 1:04, how do I do that in Resolve? I am searching YT like crazy right now and didn't find a clear answer on that.
Hey Alex, do you have any videos on fixing the Gamma Shift issues for rendered videos from Resolve? Just started to realise my Resolve edits look so different compared to RUclips on Chrome, VLC and Quicktime and it even looks different between those platforms on Windows & Mac. Been watching tons of videos on how to resolve, but they all suggest something different and I'm pulling my hair out
MrAlex, how do you hide 'paid version only' effects/transitions in the DV18 free version? If you accidently hover over them it always pops up with a notification..
If I've installed someones preset / plugin, where can I find it in blackmagic files to remove it? I like keeping my stuff clean and accidentally installed the wrong thing. Same with renaming some of the plugins.
Hey MrAlexTech, I'm currently using the 18.6.4 Studio & I can't find The Power Bins in The Viewer section, & the titles that I downloaded from M.VFX don't work. Any idea why?
Mac. Free Version. If I drag de .settings file (tittles) to the tittles as you show in minute 8, it doesn't appear in fusion tittles. What's happening? Thanks.
Curious, can this be done? if you have 2 projects (or 2 timelines). How can you render both (projects or timelines) into 1 output file? E.g. we may create a family trip and a timeline for each day. When I am done I want to render 1 video file that contains all the days. The only way I can think of doing it currently is cut&paste each individual timeline into 1 massive timeline (and render it). Yup, I know loooooong question, but any hint/help would be awesome. Thanks again for the tips!
Hey hey! I would do exactly that, just add the two timelines onto another timeline. If it were me, I'd create both timelines within a single project. Then create a third timeline and drop the actual timeline files e.g. timeline1 and/or timeline2 (it'll be within your media pool) onto the third timeline, like you were adding a clip onto the timeline3 but you're actually dropping the both Timeline1 and timeline2 on. Then you can render it off 🙂
@@MrAlexTech Awesome sir... yup exactly how I am doing it right now (multiple timelines in 1 project and then 1 timeline with everything afterwards - it's this last part I was wondering if a better process existed).... Thanks again! Have a great day.
Is there a quick way to 'de-select' all the clips on a timeline so you can edit without fear of shuffling everything along at the moment of hitting delete...?
One of the safest ways to deal with that is to not use the Delete button unless you actually do want a "ripple delete". Instead, select the clip you want to get rid of and then hit the backspace key. This will remove that clip, but no affect anything else around it.
Adjustment clips are rubbish in Resolve. I have 4k footage in a 1080p timeline, and I want to pan, zoom etc using an adjustment clip so I can affect multiple clips at the same time. Unfortunately it doesn't recognize the resolution of the source footage under it. So when you zoom in, it is a 1080p version of your footage that is zoomed in, much like creating a compound clip, so looks bad. Resolve really sucks sometimes. If anyone knows a way to "resolve" this, I'm all ears. Currently I only use the zoom on the clip itself to see it in hi-res.
