    Please be careful with whom you offer monetary donations. Wait to hear from the state Government to see who they will work with to help the people of the state. They will need our assistance, but there is no assistance for anyone when you're being taken to the cleaners by scammers.

      Tornadoes are just as terrifying in my opinion, especially since they cannot be predicted with much time to prepare. With a large tropical storm, its typically tracked for days and even weeks before making landfall. Tornadoes (especially when a storm produces an "outbreak") can absolutely cause just as much death and destruction, again, with maybe 30mins to prepare if youre lucky. But I don't think I'd prefer either one lol

      @henryhawkins1194 2 года назад

      I've been through several strong Hurricanes and one tornado. Don't want either! If given the choice, I would rather deal with a tornado because Hurricanes are too lengthy and although both can be terrifying, Andrew battered us for three to four hours, sun came out for about forty minutes or so then the other side of the eyewall battered us for another three to four hours. Too much time to be terrified not knowing if you're gonna live or die.

      New Orleans, & area, are below sea level. It was built on fill....roads degrade due to soft earth. When they get heavy rains, which is often, it's beyond soggy. You can often find patches of earth so soggy you can bounce on it like a trampoline. The LA purchase became a state.... the agreement was they would not own their own oil (unless that's changed since I lived there). They have to purchase back what they need. Humidity is generally so high that you can nearly watch a wet wash cloth mold. It's a different world there but worth a visit.

      @bethd8007 2 года назад +5

      @Stefan Frankel some areas have better codes due to past storms but keep in mind this was one of the five strongest storms to hit the US. I highly doubt any city or town, with the exception of some in Florida that rebuilt from Andrew, could handle 6-8 hours of sustained Hurricane and Tropical Storm force winds.

    • @benjiebenjamin7810
      @benjiebenjamin7810 2 года назад +1

      @@bobuk5722 I don't live there anymore, tho I visit my dear friends. With soggy earth it's not that easy as there's no solid ground....which is why they have levys to hold back water & have many pumping stations to pump out water....they've done a lot of high tech rebuilding since Katrina (gov. helped but they had to rebuild via newer codes per government) of the levys & pumping systems. You can't bury electric wires in some areas, for example, they'd move around & it'd easier, cheaper to repair posts. Considering how often they have storms they do fair pretty well. I got to fly a 4 seater Cessna of a friend's once & I was surprised, looking down, how much water was reflected by the sun around the area, including surrounding parishes (ie counties) tho it hadn't rained for several days. They do have building codes tho. But it's like building on sponges. Then, you've wild life, like alligators, that go swimming about out of their normal habitat when water rises....even swimming onto interstates. It's a different world but beautiful in its own right & delicious cuisine. You've got terrible freezing blizzards in the nortth on more solid grounds. If you explore America, you'll find that we have versatility many other countries don't....we've got an example of various countries about the planet in the U.S.. TX has dust & tumble weeds in the west & pine forests in the east. Our global warming, whether can you believe it or not, IS warming our waters & that is jet fuel for hurricanes.
