One rare thing is a customer that appreciates and trusts an auto mechanic. But an even rarer thing is an auto mechanic that can be trusted and who appreciates his customer. Well done Nick :)
We had cars like this ALL over Ft Benning in '70...there were car dealers 5 minutes away who's motto was "You get the money, we get you the car...any car, any where. Somebody should write a book about that.. My platoon sergeant bought a '69 Road Runner that looked just like this...He had me take to gas it it up once...you didn't start that thing,,you let it out of the cage...
I only wish today's young car guys could have experienced those days. All the top muscle cars nowadays at the car shows, museums, and the big auctions were all over the roads back then. As a nineteen year old I owned a Superbird with a 440-6V, and built a Hemi for it; my friend had a beautiful A-12 Roadrunner exactly like this, another friend had a spotless '69 Hurst Olds... it goes on and on and on. And it was exactly as Nick put it - those cars didn't hold your hand as you went down the street. You had to truly drive them and know how to listen, feel, and handle the power, along with the steering and braking (or lack thereof!). A very special time.
@@easygoing2479 💯😀 , Yes that was great and if you ran 12 seconds burning the tires while covering the ground you were like a King on the street 👋 , " Priceless " , those were the best times ever , Friday/ Saturday nights meeting in parking lots , etc. Just hanging out with all types of Cars and people just wanting to run who ever pulled in , So much fun 👍💯👋😀
@@easygoing2479 yea it is pretty sad they took that experience away from many of us that cant afford 70 k for a nice car nowadays...
@@easygoing2479
Tomorrow's youths will have electric "Muscle" cars 🤔🙄😔
I have a 66 Charger now but had a 70 Roadrunner, 70 Coroner 500, 70 Challenger and a 70 GTO when I wore a younger man's clothes. I'm 60 now and love my Charger the best. You can't beat that interior.
I love this. When people send their cars from all over the country to Nick's Garage it works out for everyone!
It is an honour to be chosen for these projects.

What's up Nick 💯🤣🤣
One of BEST THINGS IN LIFE is to get up and watch what you have to come in your shop and have them done ✅✅✅
Hopefully if God willing (and the Creek don't rise) I'll find me a 73 Monte Carlo S and have your Shop Foreman Vascilli Katsaras to do it ...
I'm gonna be taking the Automatic Transmission out and have a Standard Shift Console put in instead
@@NicksGarage
Hey ... Here's a thought:
Use Nitrogen in tires and you'll never have to adjust the tire pressure again and the tires will last a lot longer and you can but what the tires say in them
For instance if it says 44 PSI you put that in ... nothing more nothing less ✌🏽✅💯
@@NicksGarage oh another thing:
I wish there was a way to get the Thumbs Down icon off of here ... It breaks my heart to see that cause those idiots don't know what they are doing Chief
Yes the car lovers like sending their cars to Dr Nick for work .
Love the Road Runner💯 , I had a 1969 Solid Black Road Runner 440/6 Pack Convertible , 4 Speed , bench Seat , had too sell it to start a family 😢 , still have many memories and pictures 👍💯
To hell with the family, I'm keeping my car!!
A cousin in my wife's side of the family had a nice Shelby with a tuned and cammed engine. Right after getting married, he got rid of the car. Within 3 years, he got divorced.
Road Runners are my favorite in the Chrysler line up. I guess the memory of my friend buying a new 383 road runner and the sound of that exhaust is still with me.
When I was in High school back in the 70"s , you could get into a Six Pack Road Runner for around $2500 for a ratty one....$3000/$3500 for a nice one with good interior and body.....A ratty 383 Road Runner for between $800 and $1200.....add $!50 for a 440. Hemi's were unheard of....usually all carboned up and sitting in a shed someplace...
in 74 you could pick them up for nothing , saw a few in junk yards that were in very good condition
here in Australia we didn't get any of these beasts. only personal imports that live in garages and never see the light of day unless it's a very special occasion. Friday Night Nick's Garage show is required watching in my house.
As it is in mine over here in New Zealand too!
I had a friend with a 1969 Roadrunner. White with black hood stripes. Black vinyl top. 383 4spd. Suregrip. You don't see too many around anymore. Iwas watching a video about a drag meet and even the Ford and Chevy guys were cheering on the Roadrunner that was racing.
What goes better with morning coffee and toast, Nicks Monday morning episode. Thanks Nick and the boys.
Man this car is bringing back a lot of memories! I met a guy in high school who drove one. He needed a stereo installed. I told him I'd do it for a ride in the car and a six pack. We became good friends and I got to ride shotgun in that car for years. What a car :-)
My other favorite car is the 55 Chevy BelAir. Thanks Nick. This is the best place to see great cars !
That is a beautiful car in a beautiful color. I love the bare-bones, unapologetic look of muscle, too. Those plain steel rims set the tone - no need to knock hubcaps off at the track. Of all the 'special' cars by Chrysler, including the wing cars, these A-12 cars are the best Muscle packages for everyday use. Just don't park somewhere and put the hood on top of the car on a windy day.
You just can't start a week off without watching Nick's Garage . I just gotta say my face almost hurts from grinning by the end of the video . The owners of these cars that come to Nick's have got to be on cloud 9 knowing the master himself has their pride and joy under his watchful eyes and hands .
Nick , I always wanted one of these A12 Road Runner's in Rallye Green, but due to my age I couldn't afford the insurance at the time. Now I can afford the insurance but can't afford the divorce! That's the way it goes in life not all things work out glad you posted it Nick keep up the good work.
We had a mopar mechanic in our small town in Georgia he worked on Richard Petty’s pit crew in the 60s it was hard to get him to work on anything else Nick reminds me of him except Nick will work on them all and I’m sure you will do a great job on the A-12, you have my respect.
6 Pack carb setup..was a few of those around here back in the day. And there was an original superbird here up until about 10 years ago. I remember it parked on the street for years w that big wing on it
That's a Bare Knuckle Brawler if ever I saw one...manual brakes, steering, & 4 on the floor. You don't drive it - you hold on for dear life w/a smile on your face. You were kidding about "Home Depot" bolts in the engine compartment, right Nick? This ain't some "Cobra II" wannabe!
Nowadays bucket seats are standard and commonplace. It's nice to see the old bench seat cars now. I always preferred the bench seats. I guess that's just I was used to growing up and what my first car had. Had a couple modern cars with bucket seats (and still do) and, well, they are what they are. I like the bench seats in my trucks and my cars. Yes, good memories when you could drive with your girl right beside you.
The Chrysler A12 option package was a mid-year introduction that was available for the Plymouth Road Runner and Dodge Super Bee. The A12 cars were powered by the high-performance 440 engine that was fed by three Holley two-barrel carburetors. The option included a Dana 60 rear with 4.10 gears with Sure-Grip for both automatic and stick cars. Cooling was upgraded with a 26-inch radiator. The 440 6-BBL engine in the 1969-1/2 A12 cars came with a forged-steel crankshaft, forged-steel rods, 10.5:1 compression ratio, aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, and three Holley 2300 two-barrel carburetors.
Thanks for this info!🌟
Hard to believe that upgrade package didn't come with disk brakes.
@@clasvirhodes4969 if the road are clear and long! who wanted to stop when you having that much fun! just saying!
Good morning. I remember the original TV ad for this car. I feel fortunate that I have been around long enough to have experienced many of the cars in Nick’s shop when they were not rare.
agreed,i was driven to Sunday school in a brand new 1970 aar cuda in 1970 and it left a very lasting impression.
back then it was only a car, however it was a very nice car and i will always love cudas because of that memory.
i have other fond memories of 55 chevs,early 60s impalas,split nose camaros,69 stingrays,gtos etc....
Dr. Nick, I love this Road Runner, like you said, You drive the car,not the car driving you, beep beep, cheers.
Such a beautiful original car . He has the right man working on it. It will be nice to see it and hear it when its done.
I would put the matching number engine back in. It's so close to being perfect
What a ride! One of the coolest factory builds on the planet
To Tim: You have a beautiful car. I never seen a mechanic having so much love and respect for cars as Nick shows us every week. Keep safe and a big hello Montreal from an expat in Thailand.
I miss the old day’s my first car was a 69 1/2 A12 Dodge Super Bee Six Pack!
This episode is about the road runner, but I noticed that boattail Riviera. If it had a 455, build it to stage III or IV level. It's a boattail, how rare.
Yea.. Me too. Nice shape nice colour awesome car 👌
Yeah, I want to turn it into a Stutz lookalike.
@@ThePaulv12 I sure hope your kidding Bud......
Hey Nick old school sure is way cool!!! What a beaut ride is that road runner and what's more Tim its in the best hands with Nick and the team, just listen to Devon showing how much Nick & Vasili have taught him already. Sure bought back some memories Nick, no power steering or brakes a car to be driven by the driver not the electrics just how it was back in the day so so cool!
I worked at a Chrysler/Plymouth Dealership in Missouri in 1969. I drove a new 383 Road Runner to the showroom from a old farm barn where is was being stored before a certain show date. Awesome. It had a Hurst Shifter I remember. Orange with black trim. I was in heaven.
The RRs were fast and light, spartan interiors. I loved them but I loved the GTXs a little bit more. Thanks for another great Monday Nick!
true, if you was looking for a plush, comfortable ride, look elsewhere, it wasn't the RR
Kind of admired the way Mopar's seem to be more committed to three 2 barrels rather than two four barrels. I've never messed with multi carb set ups except on boat motors but always heard the six packs had more low end torque and better driveability. Thanks for sharing.
TIM!
Oh man, what a sweet A12! Congrats on the wise decision to have Nick oversee getting her back
in fighting shape, sir. We all know he and his merry bunch will do her justice.

Drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying the show. Thanks for teaching me what a Road Runner with an A12 package is. I probably had seen them back in the day, but never knew what they were. I remember my 7th grade science teacher pulled into school one day with a brand new yellow Road Runner. She had the coolest car in the parking lot! Beep Beep!
that is a really great looking road runner in red. Then that Buick Boat tail Riviera is one of my bucket list cars. a shop of dreams
Always something great at the shop. Thanks for being here, B.
I bought a '73 Rivi in '91 for 300 bucks. All glass was good. No rust in the body. Interior was trashed. Good engine and trans. I yanked the engine and put it in my '70 Skylark, and then trounced every IROC and Mustang in sight, with 2.56:1 gears, too. But that Riviera was the car I should have kept instead.

Old cars tell you things thru smell, vibrations and mechanical noises.
Old cars come with actual gagues that tell you your oil pressure and what temperature your engine is runnning at and you have to know what is normal for your car.

Another great Monday morning at Nick's Garage.I look forward to them every week! Bill from Linglestown Pennsylvania.
Thanks for watching!
Tim`s Road Runner is phenomenal! Absolutely stunning.
1966,67 Fairlane R code 427 lightweight has a fiberglass lift off hood . They sell hood replacements for around $700.00 if anyone has an interest . I could only imagine the price of that RR hood ? Speaking of cars with real gauges my 1969 Cobra had a gas gauge that was always on empty for some reason , I could pass anything but a gas station with that car .
The paint code is R4 and that is what it looks like. What the name is depends on if this car was built early or if it is a 69 1/2.
It is exactly R4 red. I owned a 1969 Dart Swinger 340, same color. I recall many debates as to it being red or orange. The books say that both Torred (Hemi Orange in a Dodge) and Vitamin C (Go-mango in a Dodge) were high impact colors first available in '70. They were an extra cost option that year. No high impact options in '69, so I'm sure it is R4.
Had a early 69 R. R. Same color red NOT Orange. RED RED !
Tim wants his 69 Road Runner ready for the summer With the A12 package there ain't many funner It's got a lift off hood it looks seriously good. Nick's gotta do some investigation to find every alteration to get it in a straight from the factory situation Originality is the key Eventually it's gonna be the way it should be If I was Tim right now I'd be feeling full of glee Knowing Nick and the team were working with me

Beast of a Car , no mucking about straight an to the point , I couldn't care less for modern cars.
Modern cars are produced for strictly profit purposes but it wasn't always that way cars used to be produced by companies to appeal to a certain customer base they had style grace and body lines but that all ended in the late eighties early nineties since then it's just been a free for all now they just produce whatever they want and don't give a dam what anything looks like because people just buy them and don't care themselves there's no customer base to appeal to anymore
All we can do is try and preserve as many as we can.and keep this hot rodding and wrenching on cars alive and I teach my kids as well

I drove my 72' with a 472, 6 pack. It's block came out of a mobile home.
I drove it for 11 years and sold it because it was to powerful for us and my kids.
When I first found it, it was a HEMI car but the moron riped out the HEMI and went racing with it.
I looked for that guy for years but I wasn't able to find him.
It was 19 years after I built the Charger that i found its original engine.
It's bell housing was cracked and its driver's side had a huge crack on it.
It's heads were missing.
So it was pointless, the guy I sold the Charger to sold it.
I hadn't seen it for another 40 years when a teenage girl bought it and was able to look me up from the info that I stamped on the block all those years ago.
Out of my Dad's garage came another 440/472 that was meant for his
Imperial.
I sold it to the girl and gave advise on how to put the Charger back together again.
48 years later it runs
AGAIN!
RUN

i just love watching how he sees things that are not factory ... im like you Nick they dont make cars like this anymore ,so glad you enjoy working on theses cars.... keep up the good work ....
My 69 Road Runner had the 383 magnum engine, bigger valves, and four speed with 3.23 rear axle sure grip.
It didn't seem to me like it was turning on to full potential.
I took it to a shop where the owner had been a racer. He took the distributor out and put in on a Sun machine. When he opened it he found out it had dual points. He changed weights and springs and adjusted the vacuum advance. He put it back in the engine and ran it awhile, decided it was running lean and changed the jets in the carb . I took it for a run and it felt like it had another 30-35 horsepower. When I paid the bill I gave him a generous tip.
I'm not saying it had 35 horse more than the factory advertised 335 hp, it had 35 more than when I got the 1000 mile break in completed. But, it WAS the quickest 383 runner I raced and there were at least 6 of them. Four with automatic, two with four speed.
It was quicker than a 440 GTX automatic but that was at least 400 pounds heavier then the road runner. I beat the GTX off the line and was pulling away until I hit third gear at 70mph. I was ahead about five car lengths. That was when he started gaining on me but I beat him to the 1/4 mile mark. I don't know what his shift points were set at so he might have done better at slightly higher rpms shifting manually. He left it in drive.
I had a blast with that car. It would push the speedometer clear down out of sight of the opening so I don't know how fast it actually went. 120 was the last number and it would pull at least another 800 rpms which would make it about 135mph.
I was wide open in the interstate late at night and saw a state trooper heading the other way. After I flew past him I saw his brake lights come on and he crossed the median. I was WAY ahead of him by the time he was behind me so I took the first exit and slid into town and parked behind the garage that did the work on my car. I was lucky that time, he didn't find me. I didn't try that again, EVER.
Hello everybody. Another great Monday with great people. Thanks Nick

Nick remember any cool car names here in ottawa there was lots of fast camaro's there was Panama red 69 z, pokeys revivle 701/2 z, dead z,78z, gerry otleys 74 rally sport bowtie 74 z, black magic 69 nova 454 nicks nova 427 tripower firestar 79z there was a fast mopar or two but Glen Henderson had a 360 74 duster was running 12s then put a 440 in it ran tens on the street no bottle beat a lot of chevys ahh the good old days this guy Guy would come from gatineau with his 426 hemi jeep c.j
Ford had a similar color, Calypso Coral. Not red and not orange but something in between.
Ford also had a Poppy Red which was a reddish orange.
Similar to Toreador Red a color from the Forward look era.
They also have flame orange they put on 04 mustangs that was identical to that color it was called torch red by ford but it was orange
What a glorious life you live, too spend everyday surrounded by such history and preserve them for those who dream. Thank youI.
I had a 1970 RR and I saw one of these in Savannah around 1972. As a late teen in 1972 at that time we (MOPAR Buds) thought it was the ugliest bird ever made. Now, look at it, BEAUTUFUL!
I could literally listen to Nick for hours. He has such a vast knowledge, expertise and a passion for these cars.
In 1971 I bought my first car,a 1968 roadrunner for 900.00. It ran like a beast.
I see Tim sent you our Vancouver winter weather with the car. He probably doesn’t want that back, unless you can fix it too.
**GREAT TO SEE VASILI AGAIN!!!**
When perfection is required, NICK is your man !! God Bless you Nick and all of your crew !!
You are a blessed man with a wonderful family, great friends, and the best job ever!
I had a Dart 340 4 speed with the bench seat. I remember my girl friend beside me shifting gears Great times. Us that had these cars when they were new are getting fewer and fewer.
That is a beauty I have never heard of that option package. Thanks Nick for sharing. Best of luck and God bless you all
Central California watching
WOW! this Road Runner is going to be a knockout!! I can’t wait!
Finally Road Runner getting the love and respect they deserve
You shop does a spectacular job .... bring that classic back in order 👍🏽
Dang ~ He ALMOST got the right license plate! Imagine if he had gotten A12-069, instead of B11-O68??? So close! Beautiful American Muscle icon!
Nick, when you were talking about having a girl next to you along with the 4-speed in front, it made me think of a 60's surf song right away (even though in the song the guy doesn't have a bench seat). Anyway, she won't be happy with the 4 on the floor! With all of the 4-speed shifting going on there is no room for hugging! Eventually the song goes about the guy switching over to an automatic to make his girl happy. To share some music of the era, this is the name of the song: The Four Speeds - Four On The Floor. Which makes me think by the way, in future videos, is it possible to have music in the background that is more of the muscle car era? Anyhow, thanks for another video George and everyone at Nick's Garage!
Yeah but you get your hand between her knees!
Don’t forget black paint on the core support, sprayed from underneath, at approx a 45 degree angle. And a slight paint touch up next to the right taillight, 19:55. Tor-Red paint?
Welcome Back to Nick's Garage, what do you mean by "Welcome Back", I never left and have no plans of doing so! 😉
Vancouver, British Columbia....I've got relatives there. One of my dad's cousins left Sweden in 1922 and moved to Vancouver, Pitt Meadows if I remember correctly....🇸🇪❤️🇨🇦
Duece. Thanks for staying on board.

All the best you you and everybody, have a nice day, take care and stay safe! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
A beautiful road runner Nick. Make it perfect. Love the color.
NICK,
When I was a teen in Ohio there were 2 grown brothers in the neighborhood
who had matching black SS 396 CHEVELLES. One had chrome
cragar SS mags & the other wore black SS cragar mag wheels.
Now & again the brothers would trade wheels.
!
OURv. Cool.
That is quite a nice package to receive. Glad you get to work on it.
Nick love how your guys have so much knowledge and interest on classics love your show Thanks
Was a song: “Man Smart, Woman Smarter”. Now internet smartest?😏
My favorite year I miss the one I had even though it was just a 383 4 speed.
Thanks Nick.
