  • This swim pond was built about 2 years ago with wetland filtration and a custom intake bay for keeping the water crystal clear. It took us about 3 1/2 weeks to construct with over 48 tons of Oklahoma Moss Boulders and 26 tons of gravel. With 2 variable speed pumps circulating the water is truly the heart of this swim pond.

    That pond looks amazing. Is there any electrical shock risk swim on a pond, since there are water pumps running 24/7?

    • @FncPonds
      @FncPonds  4 года назад +5

      ringomaister no risk of shock we are running inline pumps so no electrical power in pond.

      No more than a standard chemical pool. Everything would still need to be water/weatherproofed before filling anyway

    in that heat there must be a lot of evaporation so my question is how often would you need to add water and would you use city water? This is a beautiful inspiration for me but I live in a zone 2 - 3 and would probably not be able to create this here...

    I have built one very similar in my back yard with bogs. Though my water is crystal clear, My question is how to you keep the algae from growing on the gravel?

    • @FncPonds
      @FncPonds  5 лет назад +1

      Gift Giver it’s part of a ecosystem pond. It just happens. You can look into a copper iogen that will help control string algae just keep it at low levels.

    • @avalon5957
      @avalon5957 4 года назад +2

      Aquatic plants can help a lot too, as they use up all the nutrients that causes algae. Mosses, like Java moss and other plants as well as some types of fish, that eats the algae, like plecos and such.

    • @nolan5320
      @nolan5320 4 года назад +1

      You need to have more surface area for bacteria, more plants and possibly some shade

      @@schneelutz I was looking for the same solution. Beer crates will do just fine. They could certainly support the weight. These guys just reinvented the wheel,but that wheel is too expensive.Do you have any idea how big should the filter be relative to the size of pool?And how many time the water should pass through the filter in a day?

    Instead of using a plastic liner, what else can you do to hold water but using something mores natural and organic

    • @esterbmoore
      @esterbmoore 5 лет назад +2

      Hey the answer is Bentonite Clay. Its an all natural clay that expands when wet to fill space then dries rock hard. Its used to seal ponds and pools to stop them from leaking... so why not use it in the 1st place? Our org @AbundantEarthGlobalCDC we want to build beyond netzero homes with natural swimming ponds instead of traditional pools. We will be posting our fabulous "Power House" design this week.
