Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock brighten up Hollywood like it was during the golden era
I heard Sandra was going to take a long break
and Nicole Kidman
Never thought about it, but you are right. 👏🏻👏🏻
Julia is a real star, but Sandra I don’t know. I like her, but she doesn’t have the thing that Julia has.
interviews like this make you realize how much you've missed Julia Roberts on screen. :)
She’s so good
I remember the real Martha Mitchell. She was a kick! The Nixon White House tried every way they could to shut her up. They failed miserably
Thank Heavens!!
And thank goodness for it too. Martha was the best. Old John ended up in the pokey.
I remember Jack Anderson quoting Martha Mitchell Alot!
Outspoken women rock.
One should never try to tame or shut up a powerful goddess.
She’s too powerful. Period.
🙏🙏🙏
You're telling me absolute truth!!
For those interested in fashion, Julia is wearing the Ace of Hearts suit by Italian label Moschino. Originally designed in 1989 in black wool crepe. ♥️
As someone who truly IS into fashion design and apparel, I love this 🖤 thank you. She is straight up WEARING that Moschino. People don't really seem to think Moschino is still relevant, as for me however I remember my very first black and green Moschino bag/item ever, I was twelve but I felt FABULOUS.
Magnificent suit
Need it in my life!!!
Her fashion sense is impeccable. Forever love her Oscar gown when she won
@@ramalamadingdong7576 her Oscars win gown was vintage Valentino. ❤️
She’s really one of the last real movie stars, enjoyable to watch.
One the my fav actress …. All time
LMFAO - if only there were such a thing, sweetie.
For a non american these are the last remaining movie stars - Julia roberts, sandra bullock, tom cruise, george clooney and denzel washington.
The rest are great artists. Many are legends but these are the last few remaining movie stars
So happy to see her back in action! Love how she said she was nervous, 30+ years in the business and she still gets nervous ❤️
She is fantastic in everything.
❤
She’s amazing 🥲 I wanna hug her aww 🥰
I love Julia Roberts! She’s naturally beautiful, charming, and a great actress. Her face & smile are just kind, genuine, bright, elegant, and likeable.
She's good, but that Oscar clearly should have gone to Ellen Burstyn.
Ok, except it looks kind of ridiculous.
@@korbendallas5318 I don’t know. Julia’s performance was more memorable to me & has more of a weight of a leading actress. It was no surprise that Julia won because she played a real life person & the movie was also nominated for Best Picture. She also had more support from industry insiders & Academy members in that year to win.
@@RyanM268 She obviously had more support, but come on, more memorable? Burstyn was on an entirely different level.
I just find myself smiling through this entire interview… As an ‘84 born baby I grew up watching her, and she has to be one of the most charming people/persons in the industry. Adorable interview!
I showed my 15yr old Nottinghill this week. She loved it. They just don’t make movies like that anymore. So funny the whole way through.
Spike: “There’s something wrong with this yogurt.”
Him: “That’s because it’s not yogurt. It’s mayonnaise.”
Spike: “Ah right! There we are then.” *continues eating*
She’s seen Runaway Bride but only the shopping spree scene of Pretty Woman. I’m an 84 born baby too and I enjoy watch the movies from late 90s to early 2000. Before smart phones, from a simpler time.
Exactly
She has always presented such a warm, endearing energy. Like I love this woman and don’t know her at all lol
So true 😊!
I heard she has a big ego, but then again, who doesn't in Hollywood.
Its an act. She frequently does the "DO NOT LOOK AT MS. ROBERTS" bs power trip.
She might just be a good actress in press events too. Family friend who worked at the crafts level on studio films for 30+ years has said she's on the Mt. Rushmore of A-level stars who are nightmares to be around.
@@connorsampson1566
I remember early in her career, but post Pretty Woman, reading that she preferred hanging with the crews on her projects and teaching them to knit. Maybe she changed with her increasing power.
"House-arrested by her husband" doesn't sound romantic at all...it sounds like a crime.
Didn't realize to just now.
Boy, I miss her laugh!
Love ya, Julia
Loved in the movie clip "she" knew exactly when the photographer was going to snap the picture and she immediately goes into pose mode. Great acting.
I caught that too 🤣🖤 ★†fabulous†★

'Exquisite timing'
I suppose more likely she knew the photographer was waiting/looking for the next pose moment.
It gives even more power to her in that scene: SHE is deciding when and how she wants to be photographed.
Who the character?
I love how surprised she seems by how loved she is.
My ex wife was the same way with her Downeast Maine accent. She felt it made her 'sound dumb', so she trained herself to lose it... but get a few drinks in her, or step on her toes.. and mannnnn the Lobsterman's daughter came out of her at full gale!
Yesah, buddy! Maineahs! Represent! Sounds like you also did well! Couple of Allen coffee brandy’s and the f bombs are like seagulls at the town dump! Love it! Now I understand why I enjoy your comments so much!
A former colleague revealed, after we'd shared an office for 2 yrs, that she was originally from TX. I had never heard a bit of an accent. She said it still came out when she was angry
I grew up in Texas, and my accent was thick. I’d visit my family and friends in Albuquerque, and I’d be mocked mercilessly. I eventually trained myself to speak without a drawl. It does reveal itself when I get excited or sleepy.
I have never thought that general American accents sounded more intelligent or interesting than other regional accents. It’s just an accent. 🤷♂️ Just like I don’t judge blonds because of the color of their hair or assume negative things about someone because of their ethnicity or wealth.
@@woundedwarrior8916 plenty of people judge.based on accents. People from Jamaica, who speak "pidgin", face it all the time, as do Africans. And the southern accent is often used to make characters on tv seem like dumb hicks.
That genuine smile of hers gets me everytime 😍
Its a hundred miles long
It's so odd and skewed
Me too, she’s a knockout
@@ansuajo you shouldn’t be talking
Martha's then husband, John N. Mitchell, the 67th Attorney General of the United States, was the only AG ever to have served a prison sentence (for his part in the Watergate scandal). Sean Penn portrays Mitchell in this series, his first co-starring role opposite Roberts. I'm looking forward to that 'chemistry'🙏
Julia Roberts is just so awesome. We love to see her ♥️
Julia Roberts has reached a sort of celebrity that really no one else has. There is something so precious about her and her career for some reason.
Julia makes the best statements whilst entertaining many of us in her process. Thank you so much, JR!
gaslit airs sunday on starz
Person everything that she does all the movies that she's been in she's always been great
She chooses her words so carefully!
What a wonderful human being she is. And “easy on the eyes“. Yes! I said it! Sue me
Fine!, i will. When I am done there will not be a single cookie or tea in your house. 😁
My lawyers will be contacting you shortly.
She is the best. Totally in love with her since Pretty Woman.
Stunning outfit. She's a class act all the way.
i disagree. that suit is ugly af
@@frantzxghost I agree.
Haha "Really?" Stephen wasn't expecting such an instant off-the-cuff clever comeback to his comment about 'people with southern accents are often perceived as being not that quick '
An old 60 minutes episode once subtitled a portion of a segment where they interviewed Southerns. In the next segment they were interviewing a man with a Boston accent, but he wasn't subtitled. I wrote and complained about bias.
I always admired Julia Roberts not only as a Great Actress but a humanitarian she's seems so humble and approachable and I Love her laugh! 😂
perhaps, but her brother kicks more ass!
Hi from the UK. The accent thing is interesting. We have so many regional accents on such a small island and for many years they were considered indicators of lower class. Over the last 20 years or less they have become celebrated for their individualism and unique charm.
One's accent isn't always an indication of 'lower' status dahling.
@@Tao_Tology Of course not. I didn't say that, I merely explained an outdated view.
I no longer have a regional accent, although I grew up in the north of England. Probably all my years living in London and then I moved overseas; but it’s not a conscious thing at all. I just just have a regular British accent these days.
I love Las Vegas because I meet people from all over our nation & all over the world, everyone with different cultures & accents! 😁👍🏻
@@vegasbrit9440 You're a lucky man. I grew up in Birmingham but I went to an old fashioned grammar school; all elocution lessons and Latin. Then I worked for the local council for 6 years. Although I'm 63 and have lived in a number of countries and usually speak with a fairly refined accent, I still sound Brummy when I'm drunk 😂. Got to be the worst accent there is.
Only ever been to Las Vegas once. It is a little too full-on for me but it was a fun weekend.
Thanks for your comment.
You are correct, kind sir. We too have many regional accents and our southern states alone consist of hundreds of various dialects. That said, I’m surprised Julia is using the same southern accent playing Martha Mitchell that she did in the film Steel Magnolia which she made 34 years ago.
I have always loved Julia Roberts… Still do… Always will!
Good lord, this woman is charming! Oh, and she's an incredibly gifted actor. And then there's that whole thing about being as genuine as a person could ever hope to be. It would be so easy to go on, so very easy. I find it endlessly pleasing that someone so deserving is so well loved.
Georgia charm… Scorpio ♏️💟
Julia has always had such a great Laugh out loud laugh! Love it!
Seeing her reminds me of the good days when movies were actually good!!
Good scripts and all.

Loving this suit! At first I thought it was red, white, and blue, but when she turned I appreciated it even more! Queen of Hearts indeed.
In my eyes she is one of the biggest starlets of Hollywood. Love her casual demeanor!
Starlet????
@@missmayflower Old saying
Starlets are young beginners in the industry. Sexist and demeaning term. Julia Roberts is an established megastar.
What brought me here is the interview she did with David Letterman back in 1989 from Mystic Pizza. You could definitely hear a southern accent in that interview when she's 22 years old.
I fell in love with Julia when I saw Pretty Woman... that movie moved me to have more confidence about the choices in my life and realized that at some point one MUST make in your life. And her laugh is beautiful and she's truly charming and talented. I've seen all her movies.
I've seen Pretty Woman more times than I could count with a calculator. Ever since I saw it when it released in 1990 when I was 10 (don't ask lol) I was obsessed with her! My obsession with her continued for the entire 90s until Y2K arrived and I got over her, once I accepted the fact that she would never be mine lol. Still a fan, but she'll always be my first love hehe.
Julia Roberts hasn't really done anything in many years but is still massively relevant.
relevant to what???

That just shows her massive popularity before she stepped away to raise her kids. She was making 20 million + per movie back then.
I always watch Stephen help the ladies up the two steps. So adorable. 😄
Those ladies are often wearing very high heels. And we all know about the ladies who've fallen at the Oscars. So, adorable and gentlemanly, but maybe also practical?
And often necessary. They frequently wear really high heels that can be brutal going up and down stairs.

I know it's been 7 years since Letterman left but I miss hearing The Beatles "Julia" whenever the great Julia Roberts graces the Ed Sullivan stage! Thank you Paul Shaffer!
Julia's as gorgeous as ever; she hasn't aged a bit!
I love her, and she's fabulous looking, but let's not be naive. That face gets regular medical attention ---it's what's demanded of today's actresses --and very few are going to resist. Note that her forehead doesn't move.
She has aged in that slightly hardened way of people whose faces get lots of needles and lasers and chemical peels. But she is unquestionably still beautiful.
Suit is KILLER and the darkl hair so pretty. Her best color the darker hair:) so Pretty Woman Vibes:) but the Suit:) come on:)
Shes always had the best laugh 😊
How have we got to the point where Julia Roberts, a fucking megastar, is going shows on Starz? We just don't make good movies anymore
Oh my gosh. My dream girl. I've loved her since I could imagine what love felt like. ♥
What an ovation at the start. All time legend
Everyone commenting on their love for Julia Roberts and hey I love her so damn much too but can we just take a moment and appreciate that amazing outfit😍
She's such a legend ♥️
Thanks to Martha Mitchell & Helen Thomas. Without them we most likely wouldn't even know about Watergate.
Really? Not the Washington Post and the live television coverage of the impeachment?
@@Sides3Sides
I don’t know enough about her to know what influence she actually had. But perhaps she amplified the story and made it more widely known. That could potentially influence the impeachment process and the level of media coverage.
So he could have been more discreetly impeached and we wouldn’t be adding. -gate at the end of every scandal and perceived misdeed today.
Imagine if the conspiracy theory that a former President was foreign born and wasn’t picked up and championed by some loud mouthed celebrity. It probably wouldn’t have gained as much traction as it did and possibly even remained in the loony fringe instead of a political movement.
That’s how I interpreted the comment. Instead of just something studied by historians and law students, we’re getting movies about it half a century later.
@@Sides3Sides And the Senate hearings. And Judge Sirica. And a host of others.
@@gogreen7794 so, how highly do you rate Mrs. Mitchell's talk? I didn’t have a tv back then, but I knew about the crime through radio and newspapers. So, I only heard about her through talk about her late night drunken (allegedly) phone conversations
Love so much the vintage Moschino Ace of Hearts suit which we provided to Julia via her stylist!
Best laugh on the planet goes to...
She's a card, and got dealt with accordingly. 🃏
It suits her.
I think the deck was stacked in her favor.
She’s got moooooves I’ve never seen. Love her since forever, she broke a lot of 80s boys hearts ♥️
She broke this boys heart for sure lol. I wanted her soooooo bad! Ever since I saw Pretty Woman when it released in 1990 (I was 10 then, don't ask lol) I was obsessed with her! She has the BEST LAUGH! It's genuine!
Is it weird that I got excited to see her??? 🤣 It’s been a while and she’s delightful.
As a woman I'd love to age like her. She looks fantastic. A natural beauty. But mostly, she is a bright and kind person
As someone who was 17 -19 during the Watergate years, I would never think of Julia Roberts as Martha Mitchell. I'll keep an open mind, but I'm hoping the show doesn't give her too much glamor. That she was not.
watch the trailer and you'll see Julia is very un-glamorous in much of it, The trailer is on youtube " Gaslit" check it out it looks good.
She is great in it. And, she handles all the sides of Martha, the good and the dark and depressing stuff, quite well. And, they don't give her too much glamour. They show a few flashbacks when she was young, but that's about it.
Whenever Julia smiles… the room gets brighten up and there goes the happy live audiences 😃😃 I’m the lucky one of them
Love ya Julia 💝💙
We've seen TOO little of Julia for several years. Welcome back!
@NBA WTF are YOU saying? Your comment is very strange and incomprehensible.
Julia Roberts has always been gorgeous but she really does wear whichever she she currently is RIDICULOUSLY well. My goodness!
So awkward at 1.35 when he leaned in for a kiss on the cheek and she was like nope
Yep I thought the same. Had to take another look in case I miss read it..
I have to admit, having been born in the north, I am guilty of hearing a deep southern accent and thinking the speaker to be...shall we say, not as bright as they might be. I try to overcome that way of thinking, but it's difficult. When I moved from a Northern state to a Southern state at about age 12, I thought I had been dropped into a live episode of the old show "Hee Haw". I don't find southern drawls to be charming at all. I get irritated by the slower pace of speaking. And some of the accepted cultural phrases of some speakers with southern accents seem antiquated and, frankly, a little socially backwards.
Case in point: As a kid I was chastised for not adding the customary (but not customary to me) southern honorific "ma'am" when answering a teacher's direct question about something. I recall that I answered "No" only to get the terse reply, "No, _what?_ " To which I replied. "No, I do not." This did not go over well. I was accused of being snarky or disrespectful. I had no idea why.
The teacher was expecting me to amend my response by saying, "No, Ma'am". My mother had to come to school to discuss my "lack of manners". My Yankee mom, may she rest in peace, gently but firmly told the little southern biddy that I was NOT a disrespectful child, had never been taught to address anyone as "Ma'am" or "Sir" and as I was unlikely to pick up the habit that the teacher would simply have to keep that in mind in future.
you can write bro!...your prose is so good. Keep it up.
Love how much love the audience has for her

I'm a wild and longtime fan of Colbert, but please take the audience out of the show. Their constant interference in monologues and guest interactions is driving me crazy. Applaud at the beginning of the show, then pipe down, folks. Simply laugh and enjoy the show, we don't need to hear your continuous roars of approval.

Hello everyone. FYI the like button isn't working.
I’m so glad that Julia still looks like Julia. Y’all know exactly what I mean and why
Oh!. Isn't she lovely. Beauty,, talent and class❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ms. Roberts had a credible "southern accent" in "Steel Magnolias."
@Carlie Berry kindly translate. I’m not interested enough to copy and paste into Google Translate.
Their no more romantic scripts. Just junk.
Love her , beauty without plastic surgery. Go Julia !!!
Look at her forehead - it never moves, it never frowns.
Watch gaslit and you‘ll see all is natrual!
what the hell is she wearing?
That accent thing is interesting. I lived in South Carolina and Virginia until I was 10 years old, but by the time I was an adult (living in Michigan) no one heard any southern accent in me. When my wife and I were vacationing in Virginia, we met a nice couple, and the wife said to us - "I can tell you're from around here, but where's your wife from?" It was only after that that my wife and I noticed that I had slipped somewhat back to my old accent.
Julia Roberts has always been one of my favorites, as a person and as an actress. 🌺
Amazing that we have her coming out and playing again yay!!!
Don’t get me wrong I love Julia, but the way she insinuated, who would want a southern accent (she did stop herself) was a little insulting to those of us who have one. I have been told more than once that I have a lovely accent. On another subject she previously stated she was raised in a small southern town, Smyrna GA, which is why she initially went to NY to be in a city. I was also raised there and while Smyrna itself is a small town it is also a suburb of Atlanta. Doesn’t seem too proud to be from the south and that simply perpetuates the image most people have of us Southerners. While it is certainly her right to distance herself from the south it is a little frustrating for those of us that know the truth.
@Tom Joshua So kind of you to express your opinion as did I.
Oh get over your projections, honey.
I remember watching the real Martha Mitchell on talk shows back in the day...and admired her outspokenness and humor. I also remember her being held hostage by her husband and thought the government is going to shut her up by killing her.
The applause tells it all , Star struck, Wow ❤😎
She is so cool !! Love her outfit and she is one of my favorite actresses ever !!

I can't wait to see this, and I never watch Movies anymore as a practice..
The crap they put out today is worthless..
But the Actors, and subject here, has Academy credentials...

I have always like Julia - actually met her once in the early 80s before she was famous. But that southern accent was pitiful for a woman that was raised in GA (I am a South Carolinian). I guess fame does that... Having said that, I do think she is a wonderful actress.
I’m disabled and she was my salvation in the 90’s with her romantic comedies. She’s Just not fun anymore.

Trioansaures Rex- he can't earn rewards for Julia-Danny back home. But- he can cover if they forgot here on the planet. Also Taradactiles- flying dinosaurs- we have 787 of them (we named the plane 787 boing) to help remember. Tyrannosaurus, we do not have many, less than 200, maybe even less than 100. It's been a long time. The dinosaurs were treated so badly on earth, we will never get anymore. They are rare and appreciated and loved in Isadore. They love massage- most taradactiles have several 3 hour exclusive agreements, they need the give back, the massage, to fly as much as they do.
So glad Colbert does NOT have a Southern accent. He'd be reminiscent of Southern Republican Congressfascists. Interesting Evie doesn't have a Southern accent either.
