I've heard of the Golden Child syndrome, but OP's mother takes it to the extreme. Does she not realize that it's her grandchild she's asking them to "get rid of"? Also, infertility is a hard, hard thing. Sister and her husband need to maybe try again with a different fertility specialist, but if that doesn't work, there is adoption, privately or through foster care. Sister needs to decide if she's good with becoming a mom in a different way.
Other people would be glad to have two grandchildren qbout the same age growing up partislly together... My cousin and I are half a year apart, my grandparents were happy about both grandkids
