I’m not joking, after I watched this video, I was in a match against a smoke with my Kenshi and I deadass was punishing that smoke player that was doing teleport cancels the entire game 😂, this video changes lives

Awesome video. Yeah I played against a Smoke recently and we went back and forth until I won the set 3-2. I was having a hard time dealing with him until I realized I can interrupt him during his combos and like you said get 30-40% damage on him when he was at a disadvantage.

One thing to note is that smoke can convert of off his smoke dash with scorpion kameo off a hard read.

I main Smoke. Smoke and Kameo Scorpion all the way. I went from KL Rank 1 to halfway through Rank 3 last night in a few hours. The amount of people who failed to understand and adapt to the string with the low kick starter (believe its Forward 3, 2, 4?) was stunning. I am not a top tier Smoke but he is very strong. Mixing up the aforementioned string but replacing the 4 ender with Scorpion's overhead is an easy opener for combos too. The people that have been crying on twitter about Smoke being OP havent touched practiced mode for more than an hour, if even. Got called a "cheap smoke" bc god forbid I do the same kombo you havent blocked since 1954. Adding more to this, I wouldnt be maining Smoke 2 months into the game if people took 5 seconds in Practice mode to do exactly what Gleez did here and analyze frame data. Like, i wanna learn new characters but if you want me off this Smokey throne you're gonna have to kick my ass off it xD

The only string that is not negative (0 on block) is 212 cancel which, however, has not 1 but two gaps after 2 and after 21.

My sub keeps getting whooped by dude with smoke. He spams that forward jumping kick smoke has and I have zero answer for it. He'll just keep on and on and I'll block and try to wait for opening or even slide armor and it's like the smoke pushes thru that and he lands the kicks. Pretty ridiculous

I’m a smoke main and I’m going to straight up tell you he’s not as good as people think. To start, his normals are very slow. 28 frame overhead, 12 frame low, and 10 frame forward 1, standing 2 and and 3/4. His wave dash/cancel is very punishable as well, with them being a 10 frame startup. So if he doesn’t commit then that’s a punish. He has no starting mids so it very easy to micro duck his jab string and his wake is very slow so just do a fast hitting string and you waste his meter
I hope he gets buffed in the future. I think changing f1 to a mid would place him in a fair position.
I'm jn the middle of the video but I always upblock the low string on the 2nd hit.
Yeah you can do that on that string. I was more focused on the actual cancel situation. Good Smokes will bait the up block though, so just be careful with it. A staggered F3 into F3 will catch you low. The up block has a lot of recovery. Its good to keep the Smoke player honest though and get a big punish in the process.
