Him and reptile were the most wholesome characters in the story, i was quite impressed and satisfied
Kinda disappointed that Smoke didn’t get his own individual chapter in the story but I guess picking Smoke in the final chapter can make up for it to make him feel like the main hero alongside everyone else.

I'm committed to learning Smoke because he's just so fun to see do his thing. I gotta say though, canceling vicious vapors and keeping the combo going is crazy difficult for me. I really hope I can get there. So far it feels like an accident whenever I do it successfully.
So if you're having issues with the vapor cancel you can always use a cameo like Sektor, Sareena or Frost in place of the cancel to confirm combos and still get good damage. I was using Sareena but now prefer Sektor since he has an ambush to help with pressure as well. Also his Enhanced Vapor is immune on frame one where as the regular has a startup. Overall this is a great guide. The hardest thing is hitting his cancels online, I wish they would have made it just BACK instead of BACK BLOCK.

One thing i found about the grounded cancel, is that if you cancel the grounded ex Smoke port, you turn invisible as well so it makes for another way to be invisible

I haven't ever really been good at fighting games but I love this series and have casually played them as they came out but I was so hyped thanks to my brother I just couldn't wait. I had picked smoke on a whim of wanting to play a character and stick with them and when I found that 2,3,2,3 air knife combo I absolutely lost it
I like how NRS changes a bit of the core of the fighter to give him a new fresh start.

He is now rushdown - mix ups - clever skilled gameplay, so, Smoke is a splendid fighter for that kinf of players, all love NRS.

His combos are devestating but u need a kameo with low mix ups like kung Lao or frost cause he has no low mixups
Granted I haven't messed with it yet as I preordered standard edition, but to me the teleport mix is fairly reactable. If you see smoke as he fades away, he goes low. If he throws the smoke bomb, its an overhead. Both are fairly easy to see, the only one that seems real is EX smoke bomb for the invisibility. That's gonna instill a lot of fear
Trust Me It Works , That’s Why You Have To Do Mix Ups To Confuse Your Opponent . That Smoke Over Head Is Great For Low Blockers . Then Mix It With Low After Then Mix The Pattern Up .

Damn, Smoke is this good. He is one of my favorite characters, but I am bummed out that he doesn't have his Shiver move like MK9 smoke. With it, you can counter projectiles. Enhanced, physical attacks & projectiles. The best part about it is that you can hold the shiver for a solid 10 seconds or more, both regular and enhanced. And when he counters, anything the opponent is doing is frozen until hit with a teleport strike, similar to Hit's Timeskip from Dragonball Super.
Smoke in MK1 is pretty good but MK9 Smoke is the best Smoke.

Been playing him pretty much exclusively since premium edition launched and love it.
Excellent! Smoke was looking like he would be my main so I’m glad to see he has some nice pokes that lead into good combos. Him doing less damage without the vapor moves is no issue. You can see parts of his mix ups being annoying for people to predict. They way he plays here seems to be what I thought he would be like.
My vote for the next guide Character is Rain OR Scorpion

I have a feeling mixing the smoke bomb overhead with the low teleport will stop working on intermediate level people over time because of how telegraphed they are. So hearing you refer to them as 50-50s just seems wrong.
I love Mortal Kombat 11 and even X and 9 but boy MK1 is clearly the best one, redesign, animation, combos and even the story is refreshing

For vicious vapours, the non ex version is only projectile invincible on the first frame whereas the ex version is invincible to projectiles the entire move
It is hard to do but you can combo 3 ex smoke teleports in a row. My recemodation is after ther first one wait a sec than do a 1 1 to a ex teleport wait a sec than 1 1 and finish with another ex to a 1 1 2. Pair it with everything else smoke can do and you can easily get 50% precent combos

The fact that I use heavy rushdown 50/50 characters on other fighting games (Hwaorang, Juri, Shunei, K') Smoke is perfect for me

Been labbing a bit; it would seem ex vicious vapors not only does a bit more damage but it's also a bit faster & allows you to combo it into some strings where it normally wouldn't connect
Instead of ending the combos with the karambit throw you can do a ex tp, do two hits on the air, do another ex tp (because yeah you can combo two tps) and end it with an air combo for maximum damage. If you use Sareena you can do 40% regularly with 1/2 bars
I hope you do a Reiko one soon. He is my second favorite of all time and the little bit I have played with him, he is the most fun character. Less long combo shenanigans more carefully controlling space, being hyper aggressive when needed with grapples and countering on a god level to become invincible. If someone give him some attention I can see him being a high tier at EVO.
High tiers at evo are gonna be Raiden,Nitara,kenshi.since besides raiden who’s just east asf Nitara and kenshi can be untouchable also reptile is versatile asf and Baraka hits like a semitruck so that’s fun

Smoke actually has pretty good damage if you spent meter even without the cancels..
You can loop the bd4 teleport 3 times if you amplify it but you just need to delay the 11 in the air on the first ex teleport and on the following 2 teleports you need to not delay the 11.. It gives you 40+ % yeah it's 3 meters but still..

Smoke is definitely a nightmare. Been playing with Shao w/ Motaro cameo. And smoke is one of very few characters that I struggle to win against. He's so cheap to me
After smoke port, if you delay a J11, you can follow up with ANOTHER smoke port up to three times

I don't like to play block button 2D fighters, and I never liked Nether Realms games. But MK1 is the 1st one of their games I like visually. And the character designs are crazy.
One of my favorite moves is the D+2,4,3. Does the overhead into a low. Can then turn into a good combo as well! Still learning tho my second MK game. Last one I played was mk10 but was never good so I quit. Gonna take mk1 serious and become good.

Forward 4 can be interupted by the telport move. Meaning you can get their guard up with two hits of the three, then teleport before the third connects to catch them off guard

6:29 is not a 50/50 by any means. its fast but its not a flip of the coin based on how reactable it is
Most content creators aren't pro's at this game, so they don't take into consideration fuzzy guarding. It's not good when they parade these 50/50's as fact.
I started off maining RAIN... but after mastery 30,.. I switch to SMOKE.. and dudee is superior to most characters

Smoke with sareena can do an average damage of 400 with one bar, and with 2, he can half your health.

Has anybody else noticed that none of Smoke’s strings that keep the opponent grounded have enough hit stun to actually combo into smoke port or smoke bomb? If the opponent holds low block whilst getting hit for example, they will actually block the teleport mid “combo”…
Im gonna have to train that close range vapor cancel timing.

Nice combos and guide i use Scorpion as a main but he lacks mixups and this helped me to kinda switch after using Scorpion for over 4 years because i do not like the lack of mxups they have given him in this MK1. Yes he can do high damage air combos but he has limited mixups and u can easily guess and block them meaning they did not make him any more sophisticated from MK11 to me he is still a low tier for this reason.
I use to be a scorpion main to since mk9, but I switched to smoke for mk1 for these same exact reasons. Sucks scorp is so predictable in this game, but I been having fun w smoke. Only character I have trouble winning against w him is raiden💯
I'm still a Scorpion main but he sucks so much ass in Mk1 I forced myself to fight through his entire arcade ladder on hard the first day of picking him up because I couldn't believe how garbage they made him. His strings lack power, like there's no impact to a single string he has. The flame he raises from the floor was always slow as hell but it was an unblockable which was a fair trade. Now its blockable AND slow as shit, basically taking up a whole move slot for no goddamn reason.
His only mid is Forward X and it's punishable af and the air spear only works when they're at least mid to full screen.
His teleport doesn't juggle anymore, his EX teleport is the cancel, both of his fatalities use the spear so they're uninspired. His skins fucking suck, his lines are cringe, the change to being Subzeros brother made their dynamic as generic as possible AND it makes no fucking sense because Hanzo was still included IN the game.
No one's more mad about this shit than me, I'll tell you that.
With that being said, yes I'm now a Smoke main and he's 100% better this time. Didn't even look at his moveslist and ended up winning 2 matches (I don't have the game)

I dont care how fancy these youtubers trying to make Scorpion and they wont dare to say anything bad about the game because they get free shit from NRS or free flights to tournaments etc for me i got to say it as it is...this game is the WORSE game NRS ever created...its been months now since you can play a game in KL. They rushed the heck out of this game for greed and hyped it up for people to buy it and still IT CAN NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO MKX and MK11...the skins and professional look even the navigation menu in MK11 is out of this world compared to this garbage MK1. Also we pay 70 bucks just to pay even more for greedy skins that look like crap and rushed. To me most of these skins look so bad that i wouldnt even want it for free...
@@ANRO_ANRO The fact it skipped PS4 and not the switch makes absolutely no sense at all due to the lack of everything in the game. I browsed the menus and saw it was pretty empty compared to past games and as for the skins I fully agree. The only one I'm interested in is Hanzo's invasion skin but it's a shame that's the only one worth using. Even managed to botch the Deadly Alliance skins. I'm also confused as to why there's still no sub boss and since this is technically a deadly alliance remake, Moloch and Drahmin should be here.

Smoke’s back 2 overhead is not fully invulnerable you can definitely get hit out of it and the startup is slow, I’ve used it to dodge projectiles and I get clipped often, even if I’m fully covered in smoke. Also forward 3 2 (low overheard string) to the low teleport is not a true combo, so watch out.
