It brings me great sadness to reveal to ya'all the truth and the truth is I just discovered this fantastic movie a week ago. This scene is great because it has an air of death about it. The crowd is dressed for a funeral which is perfect because they all think Macchio is about to die up there on Stage with big whitey Jack Butler.

Only a few weeks ago I became aware of the Jimi Hendrix story and how he wasn't able to find employment with local groups in USA since 1959 because they considered him "too flashy", he had to move to the UK in '66 to be recognized for his talents. Now we all look back and say we're "sorry", huh? We're all fucking hypocrites, all of us.
I'd like to hear this version without the movie dialogue. For me, this tune and a couple of slide style blues riffs were what I most enjoyed in the movie. I wasn't so much into the guitar head cutting at the end. That's just me. As an old doo-wop style singer, primarily doing a cappella back in my Detroit days, I can appreciate this song's soulful stylings, much better than other versions I'd heard over the years. Good filler with the bass between each "hush.'

I can't remember the name of the vocal group singing this, but I know they have toured with Ry Cooder and it is Ry Cooder playing the clean toned guitar music on this track as Ry did all the delta blues/slide guitar parts on this movie, apart from the "Head Cuttin' Duel", which was all performed and recorded by Steve Vai with Ralph Macchio just acting out his guitar parts.

So, I found this on wikipedia: Arnold McCuller, Bobby King, Sam King, Willie Green, and Ry Cooder is also listed but he clearly isn't singing - he's the guitarist playing the minimalist clean notes in the background. so wtf. anyway I guess these guys didnt sing as a group on their own unfortunately. bummer, they sound awesome together.
