I have been watching from Italy.. It's such a terrible disaster, I feel so sad for all the people and animals that had no where to go, got hurt or had their homes destroyed. Very tragic for the people who passed.. Love and hope for the ones that survived ❤

Why isn't the power (electricity) turned off in a storm like this. The power gets turned off on the west coast for storms to keep from starting fires. If they turned the power off the downed power lines ate no problem and we would be saving transformers from blowing up. Transformers are expensive and getting hard to get.
This is nothing compared to Helene in NC. Thousands of dead bodies and the government didn't help, they actually prevented people from helping. Pay attention.

Many people cannot afford better homes. Home prices are up probably 45% in the last few years, most people just cannot afford it. I'm seeing homeless camps in places I've never seen them in all my 60 years. My son and his fiance bought a modest half a double (not in Fla) and their mortgage payments are $1350 a Month. They both have decent jobs and still it's not easy to keep their bills paid. It's probably worse in Fla.
It was bad for a lot of us, though. My cousins apartment roof fell in on them in the middle of the night. We just lost power, and our car is done for. We are glad to be alive, but this is not something to just scoff at.
The tornado swarm activity across Southeast and Central Florida was absolutely unprecedented, I've never seen so many tornado warnings. In fact, I'm pretty sure we became the second highest number of tornado warnings in a single day anywhere on record. I got lucky, but I know others didn't. :(

The logical thing is a nationalized health and property insurance disaster fund versus the friend in us relation of private industry of health and property insurance companies....I think it would matter more to people a National Disaster Fund covers the recovery cost of their property more useful than knowing people have a stingy friend in AllState. Be cheaper to nationalize. Privatization does not work. Devastation occurs too frequently, year after year. Helene was a water event. Milton is a wind and water event. Might be able to keep a few of the insurance companies alive but I would not advise it. I just watched the CBS report and saw a difference in HOW the anchors relay news to us. This summer tornados ripped thru the midwest, fires in the northwest, fires in New Mexico, now this on top of Helena. It is no wonder FEMA is running low.

From experience, living in Florida,, with homeowners , fllood, and wind insurance, your damages will not be fully covered. Rates will double after the storm

I just watched the CBS report and saw a difference in HOW the anchors relay news to us. CBS was actually on the positive side while these anchors seem to actually like reporting only the bad things that happened. CBS did report that too, but there's a different tone with this report ...They even used dramatic music🙄
Also, they went right into reporting about political crap. Really? I think the people of Florida deserve precedent over that, but whatever.
