- The time has finally come! After having these shadows for a few weeks, I was able to compile my thoughts (along with swatches and a mini-tutorial) in video form to let y'all know if these pressed shadows from ColourPop are better or worse than the originals o(*≧□≦)o

I've been using colourpop shadows (both cream and powder) and they are so freaking good, pigmented, they last all day and are incredibly easy to work with. They even do better than a lot of my MAC, LORAC and VDL shadows to be honest. I'm sorry they didn't work out for you.
I'm so happy to hear they work out for you, I was hoping to love them just as much!!
They don't work for me either
I love how you do finger AND brush swatches together! It really demonstrates how different the eyeshadows can be depending on application method and it's super helpful!
so glad to hear that's helpful for you ^_^
THANK YOU Cassie, for just being you. I'm currenty sick at home and watch all your videos. You are so refreshing to watch. Don't get me wrong - I love dramatic makeup and I love other Beauty Gurus, but you are so down to earth. No weird duckface posing at the end of your videos, you don't contour the shit out of your face..Instead you just smile at the camera and this is the most perfect thing you can do. You are a natural beauty with all your perfect imperfections, you are real, because you show your skin problems and think of all the glasses wearer out there... It is just great to see such a lovely woman doing this. Watching your videos is like hanging out with your best friend.
Ahhh thank you so much for this review!! I bought some, too, and feel the exact same way, but most of the reviews here on RUclips have been pretty glowing. Feels great to have someone confirm those suspicions😋
lol indeed!! We seem to be the minority but that doesn't mean our opinions are invalid ;)
My 18 month old danced so hard to that song during your swatches/tutorial. Made my day. "Wake up call" is beautiful on the eyes.
lol that's awesome I'm so glad your baby enjoyed the music!!
I adore your music choices. Much love to you Cassie. 😘💖😘
thank you so much ^_^
I wonder if they tend to crease and fade on you because your skin type is oily? I have the same shadows and they've preformed amazingly on myself, but I have combo skin. Someone correct me if I may be wrong, but I heard that shadows tend to move even more with oiler skin even if primed?
yeah that could definitely be.... but with my primer that I use my shadows are nearly always perfect looking at the end of a day so these shadows just didn't work for me unfortunately :(
Thank you for replying!! I understand completely, some products just don't work out even though it may be someone else's holy grail. Colourpop products are generally a hit or miss. Thank you so much for reviewing them regardless, keep up the good work, love you!! ❤️😊
you're so welcome!! And yeah it's a shame, I wish products were universal lol but that just means we get more variety to choose from ;)
Layla Ackerman you are right they work beautifully on me I have combination skin too.
Layla Ackerman I have oily skin and use an eyeshadow primer and they don't fade or crease on me
Did you try starting with the crease with a matte shadow as the transition shade, before doing the lid? Maybe it can help and prevent from creasing?
yeah and I've tried using nothing but the matte shadows too to see if it's the shimmers causing the creasing but no luck for me there :(
Thrift Thick have you tried setting your primer with a skin tone colored eyeshadow or powder?
That's so weird! I have combination skin and I LOVE these shadows! They don't fade or crease on me at all and they blend out like a dream! I don't use a primer either... they have quickly become my new favorite. 💕
I LOVE colourpop shadows all of them! I have a huge collection of both types. I have never had a problem with them fading or creasing on me but I don't have extremely oily or dry eye lids. I always use a primer as well. Heck I have even accidentally left my makeup on over night and they still looked like I just put them on. I love these shadows!!
This is the earliest I've ever been!! And still not early enough. Goes to show how much your videos are loved Cassie!! 💖
lol no way, you were super early!!! Sending you loads of virtual hugs
I would have been interested in seeing the creasing and fading. Just to see if it would happen to me. I don't always crease or fade with shadows but certain ones tend to fade and crease near the inner part of my eye for some reason. I'm not sure if I should get these :/ The super shock shadows do great on me and some of them have lasted through me rubbing my eyes, but I'm not sure about these.
Good job with the swatches. Brush and finger swatches are the best and the natural lighting showcased them well. Can I make a suggestion for the future? Can you try out different looks in your tutorial sections? You do this color scheme and layout everytime you wear makeup it seems. Maybe add a pop of color? I think green would look good on you.
Hi Cassie - do you use a setting spray after applying the shadows?
hm... weird... i have oily skin and VERY oily eyelids but i have 0 issues with fading. idk, products work different for everyone.
nate the snailboi it's just different body chemistries. Nothing to do with the application etc. but hey that's why it's good to get multiple people's reviews
Melissa Marchan why are you watching then
Melissa Marchan I disagree I think she came out with a very pretty everyday eye look. But we can't all agree on everything enjoy the rest of your day
Melissa Marchan what is wrong about the way she applies the shadow?
nate the snailboi I use the colour pop cream shadow on oily lids, no primer and they never crease or fade. I don't want anymore powder eyeshadows so I haven't bought any yet.
And JUST when I thought I couldn't make it through the rest of my day, it's Cassie to the rescue!!😻
I'm so sorry to hear you're not having the greatest of days but I'm glad I could help
I love the music you use! It's out of the norm unlike everyone else's videos. You're the best Cassie :)
I love the look you created! I am so drawn to the colours that they've put out.
I'm so in Love with these eyeshadows! I'm super oily all over my face and eyelids as well but for some reason these do not fade on me. I use them with the Tarte Shape Tape concealer as primer and works perfectly for me! 😍
I love them as well as the rest of colourpop products (I love colourpop) and while they do fade a bit I still think the color is still there at the end of the day.
I'm glad they work well for you!
That is so crazy! They stay in place and last all day long for me! I don't use primer at all and they're so buttery I love them! ❤
High Strung is so beautiful omg 😍😍 I love it with your complexion!!
Love that eye look! You should recreate it with mug eye shadows. Love you Cassie!
I can literally sleep on my face and wake up with my shadow still on. i don't understand how you have such problems with it!
shelli rose I have oily skin and these don't last on me at all :( that may be one of the reasons they fade on Cassie so quickly
i have very oily lids. i use a dry shadow primer. the de-crease one is amazing. put it on with the wand and blend it out with a bb and set it with a powder. works every time. i have to use my primer with eyeliner even bc my lifts are so oily. and i work in a factory with oil and grease.
shelli rose I'll have to try that! I haven't been able to find a good primer that won't melt off my face (I live in the south, and humidity+oily skin+heat do not make a good combination), so I will definitely be looking into dry shadow primers tonight! I actually never knew there was such thing as a dry shadow primer, I guess you learn something new everyday :P
i think its by Loreal. i think. its not dry dry just dryer. feels like a powder when you're blending it out and dries so fast that's why i use a bb to blend. magic de-creasing shadow primer. Its a smaller hard plastic tube. almost like a mini lippie.
I have the exact same issue
I got 5 of them but haven't played much with them yet. Looking forward to it though. Interesting to see they are pricier per oz than MUG. Nice review, thanks! I'm curious about something. Every RUclipsr I see does the brush swatches the same way, swiping down. I'm not a RUclipsr, but when I do them on me to test colors (I forget what they look like sometimes so I test on my arm to see how shimmery or how dark it is before I commit to my eye), I swipe them parallel in windshield wiper motion like I would apply to the eye and it turns out how it would look on the eye, whereas, swiping seems to look patchier than it would on the eye because you just don't apply that way to the eye. So, instead of my hand being under my arm, it is resting on my arm next to where I want to swatch and I just do windshield wiper a few times to make the swatch (holding brush as I would for my eye). It works so much better and makes it true to how it looks on the eye in smoothness and color intensity, so I was just wondering why no one else does them that way?
I'm glad that some of the hate has gone down! You deserve nothing but happiness! Love you! :)
thank you so much ^_^
I've never had any shadow crease on me because I don't have oily lids. Maybe they creased because you aren't priming and setting your lids which is what you need to do if you have oily lids.
Melissa Crest she does that tho
I have dry skin and these shadows don't last on me. It's super weird because I had never had any issues with other brands.
I'm so bummed that these didn't work out for you. I adore both types of their eye shadows. I own a ton of Super Shock Shadows and all of their pressed powder. I have pretty oily lids so I wear a waterproof primer by Lancome and my shadows stick over 9+ hours at work in the heat. I don't have any issue with creasing or fading and the shadows look as pigmented as they did when first applied.
It's so interesting that the supershock eye shadows don't last on you. I slept with one on and woke up the next morning and my eyeshadow was flawless! Just had to touch up my wing and I recycled my eye makeup (gross, I know) I've never tried these though so I'm curious how they'd work for me
I havnt had the issue of them creasing through out the day
you're lucky!!
These colours suit you so well and I absolutely love the eye look, it's not too heavy but beautiful, polished and subtle. I'd wear it every day! I wish I would found something that would create the same look for me. Unfortunately in my country I can't buy neither of those brands.
Have you tried setting your primer with a powder before applying the regular ones? I always do that and they never crease or fade or budge. I have dry skin, but oily eyelids (go figure). :)
Sorry to hear that you didn't like these! I got about six of them and really really love all of the shades! I don't know if they fade throughout the day for you because of your skin type but I haven't noticed any fading. I love your mini tutorial too, I usually start with my crease and then put shadow on my lid but I may have to start with the lid first since it looked a bit easier. Thanks Cassie, you're awesome! :)
Loved the colours you picked! Great tutorial and fantastic music (again!). Love how your videos are so helpful, interesting and different xxx
Hm, strange...I guess it's an oily skin thing! because I adore colourpop pressed shadows, and my favourites are MUFE singles. I honestly love the colourpop shadows so much and have been using them nonstop lately and getting lots of compliments on my eyeshadow! They last all day on me too.
I honestly don't understand... I love colourpop, for their eye shadows I have 12 super shocks and they are some of the longest lasting eye shadows in my collection. As for the pressed ones, I've got 5 and they work for me as good as the makeup geek ones. There's more fallout than in the MG, but they don't crease nor fade at all! I'm not saying that you're lying nor anything like that (I love you ❤), but they've worked beautifully on me and I thought you're going to like them, because I love them...
Maybe your skin type is different?
Maria P I had a makeup artist tell me they were the longest lasting shadows she has and she has EVERYTHING. So I am a bit confused by this review as well. ???
Different products work for different people. ThaTaylaa absolutely adores these. :)
oily lids might make them disintegrate on the eyes, i say that because drugstore shadows do that to me, after a few hours its like i had nothing on my lids, just disappeared into thin air
misskyliesue Of course, no shade on Cassie and yes, maybe it's because she has oily eyelids and the super shock ones are cushiony, pressed might not work for everyone as well. Too bad she didn't like them, because the colors look beautiful on her and I love them on myself too 😊
I am excited about your fantastic new background!
I think your hair looks so silky smooth today! I also wanted to say that you have really pretty eyelashes!! There perfect. Great video!
Hi Cassie! Your videos are the best and I hope you have a lovely day!!!
thank you so much and I hope you're having a great day so far too ^_^
I love the mini-tutorial! So pretty!!
thank you so much!!
You should probably mention the reason these don't work for you is specifically because of your skin type... not only would it be helpful for people with oily lids to know they should avoid these, but it would help people confused by your review to understand where you're coming from since most people really like these shadows :3
Is it true that they work better applying them with your finger and/or a synthetic brush or do they apply the same with any kind of brush?
im the exact opposite. i think makeupgeek matte shadows are almost watered down in a sense lol. the colors in the pan are not as they appear on the eyes. they dont blend as well either. to me colorpop shadows blend and are pigmented like abh shadows. i only enjoy makeup geek foiled shadows
lol it just goes to show that all makeup works super differently on everyone! It's just good to know that you and I both have products that work for us and that we love :D
Thrift Thick exactly :) of course i always enjoy your reviews even though we have different skin types. maybe different primers make a difference as well. :)
I watch another beauty vlogger and she uses fix plus sometimes for more powdery shadows. Back in the day this was called foiling, have you tried that with these? That way if it works, you won't have to discard them? I foil, and if it's too intense color wise, I take a fluffy brush to soften it up. I guess then use a setting spray over them to keep them from fading? Just another method to try, even though it seems involved.
I just got mine yesterday and I love them!! They don't crease on me :)
Would you attribute the way they wear to your oily skin? I've got kind of dry eyelids and am wondering
I was looking for a new video from you as I got the notification!! Thanks for keeping me company while I do laundry :)
oh yay, glad to be able to virtually hang out with you ^_^
I really enjoyed the music that accompanied the swatches and mini tutorial. Cassie has the most original music on her channel compared to the rest of the beauty community.
These are so so great. And they last ALL DAY LONG. incredible.
The original shadows in their individual little pots stay most of the day on my skin, and crease very little. My sister has some fading, and my mom says they last all day and she love it. The main difference is our skin type, with it staying on the longest for my mom (who is the most dry). Maybe the shadows work better on dry skin types? It's always interesting to see how make up works differently for different people :) I always come to your reviews for eye makeup - you give the most honest and close up look at what us normal every-day people would be looking at on ourselves, and I love that about you
the .2 gram discrepancy is probably the full pan vs the product without the metal pan. like "this pan contains 1.0g" & "This product weighs 1.2g" product here meaning the shadow and the pan containing it.
u should try baking your eyelids cass, esp. if they get oily throughout the day!! i have super dry skin but my eyelids are super oily and i bake them for a bit after priming with concealer and all that powder drying the skin out holds the oils at bay for longer so my eyeshadow lasts longer!!
Have you tried spritzing your lids with setting spray (I use Tarte Rainforest of the Sea mist) before applying your mascara?
I've ordered from them a ton and I only received a bubble envelope once when I only bought like two things. Maybe it has to do with order volume?
I love how you combined all of these colors, that's a great look. it's really too bad the shadows crease on you. Thank you for the swatches and mini tutorial ;)
This is in no way meant to be hate or criticism but I wish you would bring your artistic creativity to your makeup . I wish I had some knowledge about colors and shading! I think you could do some really cool looks.
Also... I'm not sure if you're just not using the correct product as a base... but I use these shadows with no base other than my foundation and concealer that I get on my lids and it lasts perfect through everything I do including welding lol. They stay vibrant and in place.
that meow necklace caught my eyes 😍😍😍
Your videos are always awesome! They always make my day better, thank you.
Hi Cassie! Do you think if I have pretty normal eyelids(not oily) and never have any fading problems, I would like these?
xoxo
with the exception of paper tiger i bought all the same shades as you and then some, and they worked beautifully for me. I'm sorry to hear they didn't work for me!
Hey random person scrolling through the comments! Have a great day!
Krysi Ogles Back at ya❤😂
Krysi Ogles Lool
You too Krysi! :)
Melody and Colleen, thanks! I'm trying!
I imagine because you have so many products to try/use you wouldn't be interested in trying different things to see if it helps make them work for you, but... I'm curious if a drier/stickier eye primer would help. Like MAC's paint pot in ochre. I have kinda combo skin and I've never had an issue with colourpop's shadows in either formula. I use their original formula shadows almost every day. I've fallen asleep with them on (not purposely of course), woken up and they're still there... uncreased. Guess it's just the difference in skin type.
You're getting really good at eyeshadow Cassie!!👍 The shadows seem to be super blendable... love the look:)
I'm so glad to finally see this video. I genuinely take all of your reviews into consideration. I think if I want to make my own palette I'll go with makeupgeek shadows. I haven't been commenting lately :/ been really busy! Love you 🤗💜
I really liked the formula of the pressed shadows, although the amount of kick up in the pan seems wasteful. But the original cream shadow formula also works well on my eyes... Maybe you could wear them (and any of those foundations that look gorgeous but don't seem to last throughout the day) for your mukbangs?
I have purchased just about every shade they have of the pressed palette and I think they are terrific. I have dry skin so I don't know if that makes any difference but they don't crease and they last all day. The shades are just gorgeous. I can use them with or without a primer and they work. Sorry they don't work for you. Maybe you could try some of the newer ones and see if they are any different?
Hi Cassie! Did you do something different to your hair? I like it!
I find the Colourpop shadows to be awesome. They last all day on me, stay vivid and in place, and I have oily skin. I apply all of them with my fingers though. The only time I use a brush with colourpop shadows is for the crease color. It could be your skin's ph level or if you apply them with a brush they aren't as vivid after a while.
omg I was so close to buying them! since they dont have a return policy, I was a little worried, but now I know better! Thanks for the review ^.^
That's so weird!! Supershock shadows are the only shadows that keep their full pigmentation from when I put them on until I take them off, they're truly amazing. And their pressed shadows I have to say are even more pigmented than MUG. There. I said it. Lol
Also which one do you like better though. Bellini from peach palette or Come and get it from ColourPop.
bellini for sure!! Come and get it is SO sheer and takes a lot of building up :/
Great video! Love, love the music! Found myself dancing along as I watched! 😂
I purchased a whole bunch of Colourpop eyeshadows, liners and lippie stix and I was SO disappointed in the shadows. Like you, Cassie, I wanted to love them but they DO NOT COMPARE to Makeup Geek shadows.
They didn't last and were very hit and miss with nice eye application. Swatches beautifully, but the duochrome didn't wear well or apply well and the matte purple shade I bought was severely patchy. They were soft and buttery, but poor quality and consistency overall. In my opinion.
From now on I will stick to MUG. Thank you for being a "Guru" we can rely on and trust. Much love from UP North!
The colors are absolutely gorgeous, you're right about that! I'm scared they kinda get muddy on the eye? Like they just kinda blend together, blend out, all become one kinda muddy thing...idk. Makes me a little sad about pigmentation, which is such a bummer!!
Still have much luv for ColourPop ❤️
hey Cassie I am in love with high strung! what is your favorite color out of that set? the look is beautiful by the way 😊
I partially agree with you. Absolutly prefer these over their supershock shadows, I own the latest two of their shelter collab, and while the colors are pretty I hate how bulky they are and they don't do well on my lids. I find that weird because their supershock highlighters do well for me.. but anyway, eyeshadows, I find their shimmer shades to not last very well on me, their mattes do great but of course they don't look like i just applied them after a 10+ hour day. Majority of the mattes I have get kind of crumbly in the pan when I go in there with a brush. but they blend beautifully in my opinion, and for some reason, especially the red/orangy shades like making moves, flower boy and wait for it work better on me than the MUG ones. That alone is worth a lot to me. I love those shades on me but depending on just the tiniest hint of leaning towards on side they make me look sick/dead haha I have 19 pressed colourpop shadows now, I am happy with my purchase (I need to stop though i have so many eyeshadows I need additional 20 lifes to use them all up).
lol well I'm glad you like them and they work for you!
I was confused too!! My single eyeshadow says 1g and on the high maintenance palette box it said 1.4g each when 3 of the eyeshadows were 1.2g and the other one was 1g?!?
The ColourPop pressed eyeshadows work pretty well on me with primer. I haven't had the fading issues you're talking about. Everyone is different. :)
I was watching some of your older vids, and they are HILARIOUS!! Specifically your Miley Cyrus vid and your everyday makeup routine!!! The bronzer in the Cyrus vid had me ROFL 🤣 ahhhhh anyway lol have a great day Cassie 💕
Hi I know you said the eyeshadow creased on you and I recommend you try out nyx proof it waterproof eyshadow primer. I have oily skin (particularly my eyelids and it helps pretty much any eyeshadow stay on for me). You could even do a review on it if you wanted
I notice some of the pressed shadows fade, and some don't. I like the colors and blendability, so that's why I always use them. I enjoyed the mini-tutorial, really pretty. :)
Aww no! I love love love these shadows! I didn't like the originals but these are great for me. I'm so sad they didn't work for you :,( love you girl!
PLEASE do a review on the makeup forever full cover concealer!!!
I'm not even trying to get you to review this random product but I really think you'll enjoy it
I don't like the cream/soufflé texture of their origional shadows, but I really like the pressed powders! I picked up the "High Maintenance" palette along with three or four of the cute little duos. They do fade a bit over time, but using a primer and a setting spray helps a lot :)
Where did you get the meow necklace? I love it.
I found that Get Out {matte deep burgundy} does not blend on me at all . I've tried using a light hand , putting down a base coat of another powder .. just nope .
hi Cassie! Hope everyone is having an amazing day
hello and thank you, you too!
colourpop eyeshadows last all day on my eyelids (pressed and original) I guess it depends on the person.
Cassie, have you tried Mac Prep & Prime eye base? It'd be interesting to see a comparison of that with a different primer on one eye for a wear test! ❤️❤️
i use color pop cream eye shadows and yesterday when taking them off it felt like i had knives all over my eye lids for some reason??? but i have super oily eye lids and they do fade on me and don't look great after a while but i have heard of makeup geek but i had no idea they were similar in price! perfect timing to hear about it with prom coming up! :)
Yay! GOT7 MV teaser came out for Never Ever and a Cassie video today. I am spoiled today! 😄😄😄😄😄😄 Thanks Cassie for the reviews!
FINALLY!!!!! I can now sit down and watch this =)
The face in the thumbnail says it all! Orange is such a good lipstick color on you! Eep!
Hey Cassie, do you still thrift? if so I would love to see a haul 😊 love all your videos even the mukbangs! xxx
AAAAAAH YES THIS MADE MY DAY SO MUCH BETTER
so happy to hear that ^_^
No PAWS rating on this one?
I...... didn't even think about that hahah wtf was wrong with me??? I'm so sorry I didn't include that... I guess since this wasn't technically a first impression/let's test video that didn't even cross my mind. I feel like an idiot lol I'm so sorry!!
Thrift Thick i dont think you have to apologise, you should do the video the way you want to. Keep the passion :)
Thank you. I've been hearing nothing but great reviews on colourpop. Nice to get a better opinion.
aka Amy Louwho I love ColourPop original shadows. I fortunately don't experience the problems that you have Cassie. I'm looking forward to trying the pressed shadows but I'm trying really hard not to buy anything for a while. I always appreciate your input Cassie and thank you for doing this review. Love the Meow necklace BTW. lol I hope that your week has been exceptional!
I was disappointed in my pressed and super shock eyeshadows. They were so raved but I didn't think they were pigmented :/
