I think I will use this dough method next time I make a batch, as so much better than the store bought stuff, and I wanted a bigger circle too. I love making pasta and this is so similar. Grasa is same as manteca de cerdo yes? I guess that will just make a smoother and paler dough.
Very true! i had to sub the manteca de cerdo for butter as I couldn't get it at caprabo or mercadona. 😒 manteca de cerdo is Lard, it makes it much nicer but it's not the healthiest! haha The important thing is to make the dough very thin. i will have to make more after Christmas! I love empanadas!
As an Argentinian I just want to comment, even though we have this type of empanadas filling is definetly not in the top 3 more common. Being most about beef in different ways depending on the region, or cheese and ham. Also is typical to fry them in pork lard as well. Chicken is a more modern healthy version you mostly find in the Capital and big cities. Since cow meat historically was prevalent over any other type.
