I started up a No Fight, No Magic Items, No Consumables (not even outside battle) run a while back. The lack of House access did make a few parts tedious, but it was very doable through a lot of it. When I got to the Fiend Temple Revisit, I saw this video for the first time. It got me thinking about Magic Only. So, I started going through the temple without running, blasting everything in my way. At level 40, I got to Tiamat's floor with 4 charges of level 8 magic left on all mages. It actually might be possible! So, I got to thinking how the rest of such a run might go. Then I started the most insane version of this run. I'm doing a Magic command only in battle, no consumables run. Thus far, Garland just needed level 2, hiking to Pravoka needed level 4, and getting through Marsh Cave required level 15 just to keep from running out of spell charges on the way back to town. Thank you peninsula of power for letting me keep a smidgen of what remains of my sanity. Getting the Ruby at level 17 was less of a hassle since I can use up to 6th level spells there. The Lich dive should prove easy enough at probably level 18-19. 20 at the absolute worst. I dread Ice Cave though! The last 3 Fiends will likely be a joke after class change. Temple of Fiends 2, Time Loop Boogaloo, will probably need level 45ish if my math holds up. Well, back to the Earth Cave, Rod in hand... wish for me.
Thanks, I'll need it. Totally understand taking a breather. In the meantime, a few notes on the run as I've been poking around: Lich was an easy clear with slots to spare at 17, Ice Cave just murdered me at 18. Friggin sorcerers. Ordeals was easy enough though. Hopefully 22 will be enough to get through Ice Cave. The splits for this are gonna be atrocious...
So, at the end of all things, the level requirements for each milestone: Garland - 2 Hike to Pravoka - 4 Pirates - 4 Marsh Cave - 15 Ruby - 17 Lich - 17 Ordeals - 18 Ice Cave - 22 Kary - 23 Kraken - 25 Waterfall - 26 Tiamat - 28 Chaos - 45 What a bastard of a run. With better RNG or good encounter table positioning, maybe Chaos can be taken down at about 41-42. Marsh Cave at maybe 14. Ice Cave maybe at 21. But I just brute forced it. The levels going from Kary through Tiamat were mostly organically gained just treasure diving and running the dungeons, so the only heavy grinding came before Marsh Cave, Ice Cave, and Temple of Fiends Past.
Update on required levels, entering Marsh Cave at 14 is doable, might want to get 15 for safety anyway, in case of bad damage rolls. Final dungeon can be entered at 43. My second black wizard used his very last nuke, which was his last spell charge, at the beginning of round 4 of the Chaos fight. Skin of the teeth but at least it's a little less grinding for end game.
3:26:12 While fighting Tiamat. "You've got nothing... start drinking!" I imagined Dave sits down and says. "I had my one chance and I blew it, well at least I got my heal potions." And before he can even take a sip, Yuna pulls out the Bane sword and it kills Tiamat that time. Poor Dave couldn't even get his drink in.
Enjoying your challenge runs :) few ideas for challenge runs: 4 red mage/wizard personalities (each mage thinks they are someone else and can only use fighter/thief/black mage/white mage equipment/spells), 2 steps forward one step back (all spiked tiles twice is annoying, but mainly a time consuming challenge), black sheep challenge (mage that only melees, thief that cannot run, fighter with no weapons, black belt that must have a weapon on at all times, etc), elemental mages (each red/black mage must learn a different element and no one else can use that element spells/items), or limited weapon/armor slots each adventurer can only hold/equip 2/3 weapons or armor at a time instead of 4.
Sounds good, just heard you mention in the video you might be running out of ideas so thought I'd offer some suggestions. normal runs are fun to watch also :)@@shanezell
Always a pleasure. I try to watch you most days. (Hilt)
Hey, Shane. Don't forget about one mermaid in Undersea Shrine, she has something different to say after you've beaten Kraken 😊

Well good luck with that massive challenge, who knows it could be something that I also tackle one day. Currently taking a break from playing FF1.

Another fun challenge! Good job.

I'll be taking a break from doing any new challenges for a while. I'll probably be going been to them eventually. Doing more normal runs for a bit.
@@shanezellwhat’s a normal run?
Normal speedrun, I'm currently working on RNG manip any% @@jsteen84

Great run! Why did you petrify the black masters for the Lich 2 fight?
@@jeffrobertson6707 I do that so they don't take damage from nuke. They don't have 400 HP to survive.
Is there no sound, or is my phone broken?
Just your phone I guess? Seems fine for me.
There is sound. :)
It's working now - no idea what was wrong. Sorry about that!
sound seems fine to me
