It’s interesting that they tout optical flow as a newly added feature in v2. V1 also stated that it had optical flow (still advertised as such), and had a visible lens showing on the bottom. However, you might remember that I disassembled mine and found it to be a fake lens with no attached sensor or electronics. That alone makes me not trust anything promoted about this drone.
I disassembled mine as well and can confirm, that there is just a fake lens underneath. In addition the GPS reception dropped immediately to 1 or 0 satellites when I start video recording, and the L100 flew very irregular. Stopping the video recovers the GPS reception immediately. Bad shielding?
@@StefanWode there's no telling... This was just a half-baked drone in general... I crashed my V2 and broke the right arm and I think it damaged the servo for the motor and also damaged the GPS module. As the app now thinks it's forever in "indoor mode" Also the camera/gimbal stopped functioning completely afterwards... Admittedly it was a bad crash. This drone seems to have an issue with voltage dropping. My V2 came with 1 of the old 1800 batt's and the drone really hated that batt. But it doesn't do great with the 1900's either as that is what it crashed with. It just wilded out and zoomed into a tree and fell about 15 feet to asphalt hard...R.I.P...
Actually i got both of the versions. Indeed, after talking with the seller in china, there are actually two manufacturers producing this drone! They look just the same but one of them is a half finished product. When i pick the more expensive one, it is the so call version 2 in this video, most of thr features are working in my case with version 2
I always like to have a budget beginner drone with me when we are on a overland adventure so I can take chances. When you was flying it in your home I was ready to go purchase it. Then my head exploded 🤯no gps. I would think that in 2022 R/D would be mandatory especially when your a company promoting version 2. But I have also had some other drones do the same thing. I would have to turn everything off move the drone and reboot it. Finally I just gave them the boot. Thanks for the review Captain.
I'd have tried a re-boot but regardless this drone seems like an answer to a question no one is asking. For the same $ someone can get a pretty solid quad now.
FYI, I (reluctantly) decided to give this drone another chance, having been burned with the L100 and its fake optical flow lens. I can happily report that all seems to be working well with this V2 model. My unit locked GPS much faster than the older model, and the optical flow is working. The improved motors make a noticeable difference, as the copter is both more nimble and stable. Video/Photo quality remains 'ok' - better than many budget drones but not worthy of any important use. All together an interesting and fun bi-copter.
The company obviously prepared a demo drone for a professional RUclips reviewer , much like new press release cars, can you imagine the general release quality ?
the filming quality is much better than old budget drone especially when eis is applied..But, why there is no satellite signal? is the problem of the drone ? or there is really no satellite over head at the moment?
Nice review Steve and makes one wonder if its only looking for the Chinese GPS satellites or it still thinks its located in China, surely they must have tested that before they sent v2 out to you for review and presume it worked there?. Maybe they can send you a firmware update if they want to save it.
Well done review captain. But no thanks. I'm a DJI fan boy lol but i do appreciate your dedication to the channel and showing many drones and RC and other products. Keep up the good work and i'll be happy to keep watching. thumbs up #264 👍
Not sure 2 props will ever work well….very pendulum-like. GPS probably works where it’s manufactured/tested… but likely not elsewhere. Thanks for the review Steve.
You did better on the reviews and I would if I couldn’t get it to work like you didn’t I probably said something a lot worse that’s probably why I’m not a good reviewer lol thanks Steve forwhat you do
Camera doesn't look half bad, and is pretty stable. Pretty stupid of a company to send what looks to be a malfunctioning GPS quad out to reviewers. Just curious: Captain, did you by any chance leave the quad outside at one point to see if it would gather GPS signal at all? It can take GPS systems quite some time to get signals after they have been relocated substantially (like China > Canada).
It's strange to have 0 satellites at all, in my case, both of the versions got some what 3-4 satellites at the beginning and then it take 5-minutes or so to pick the minimum 8 GPS for take off. I am here in hong kong. If u want i can try relaying ur problem to the vendor.
Looks like a lot of crap mate. Why buy if no fly????? Glad you showed viewers this video as many buying cheaper drones may think it looks great, it does look great, but crap in the air.
Maybe the problem is phone related? I mean DJI is in sense almost developed for apple products and works in sense better with iPhones. Sure they have this Android based controller, but most Android phones except the biggest manufacturer of Android phones. Sony phones usually don't work with DJI what i heard. But other drone brands usually develop for Android so drones of less known brands usually works better with Android. But anyhow, it was kinda close this time though lol it was kinda like gps couldn't activate, maybe they forgot to connect a cable within the drone.
Bad bad Drone but good good review as always Captain. They don't send final product I think , I hope they will improve this for more stable use or this aircraft may have unpredictable future on market.
Thanks again for another great review! Can’t help but think that maybe the drone knows the location. Guess it won’t fly with satellites 🛰 in the USA 🇺🇸 or Canada 🇨🇦. If it was in China 🇨🇳 or Africa bam 💥 the FAA guidelines aren’t as strict and it would pick them up. I guess knowing the current trends DJI will adopt this technology soon too. #comedy
i would never buy this again by the same company,my first version won't even fly anymore as the motors end up going loose and won't turn on its angles which is another big issue with this drone,i could also see it still has a mind of its own with the barometer issue as it kept going up and down in height
With the state of technology you think the junk drones would be a thing of the past. My concern is if experienced operators are having issues and crashing these things, what's it doing in the hands of a novice. Someone is going to get hurt. The general public doesn't see the difference between a kid with a junk drone and those of us operating high dollar prosumer drones proffessionally. Just saying.
It's an interesting drone, but for 200 bucks I don't think it's worth it, especially if the controller signal is going to be that unreliable. Better make the RCExplorer Bicopter. The 3D files are available online and I can fully customize it.
I’m not really a collector of drones since I’m into every aspect of the RC hobby and have minimal storage space. This means I constantly have to let items go from my inventory.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 oh I’m sure you do. I have the mavic air 2 , the DJI fpv, and just order a skyeliner from rotor riot and I’ll already have no room. Haha. Definitely get rid of the ones like you just showed that are crap.
Steve - Why not try shutting it down first, then removing the battery for 10 minutes and retrying ? Other idea is to have it powered up then remove the battery without shutting it off, then re insert battery and try again ? OR what about shutting down the controller, then restarting it a couple times ? Damn thing looks like it or the controller or both needs to be rebooted, if it has a removable battery, disconnect that and see what happens IF none of that works, try running it over with your Jeep - I mean FIAT ! You said it was CHEAP but I was unable to find it on eBay but did see the first one on there and was pricey - $350 ? NOT cheap in my mind Did manage to buy an SG907 used online here in BR, like new condx, charging things up for my first try to get it flying soon !
Very odd. Even my ancient running watch uses both GPS and the Russian equivalent (GLONASS). I forget what the European & Chinese ones are or if they’re even up yet. Does India have one too… anyway I can imagine one chip not communicating with the master unit & losing all USA or all Chinese satellites, but losing of them from all the ones they have. Maybe there are only two and they both use the same aerial, which became defective in transit…
I see this drone as a money grab by the people involved in securing funds from investors to make a gimmick. Quad copter! Think about it. 4 propellers are better than two! Wtf would someone want less power and control? They wouldn't. This product is a FAIL.
A bad review as as useful as a good review - Clearly the company sending it would have tested it wouldn't you think? Something must be sensitive or broke, either way its too fragile
when i buyed a spart remote it worked and at the second fly crashed in grass from 2meter broked an arm that i replaced and now it act as crazy mention than the video is interpolated 480p or such crap really nothing to keep at all the worst scam ever
If drones were sold in gumball machines, then this would be that drone.

"Fixed it." Drone starts flying back to shenzen.
Love the cinematic shots you show us rc car week video love to see more soon
Please leave a review on the sales site.
Hi there capt. That's very nice...I like it.
Salut ce matin je regarde ta vidéo et j'ai beaucoup aimé ton humour avec la recherche de satellites bonne journée à toi

Man I love the concept. I hope Makerfire or someone else gets this right soon.
Mental that a company should send a drone that does not work to you for review what we’re they thinking
All I can say is....wow!
Thanks
Good evening captain always great video nice review

Maybe third time will be the charm. Sad they're selling it when it doesn't work.
your videos so fun and good better than movies lol
Thank you!
I am sure version three will hit the mark!😮 Thanks Captain , win some lose some.🤦🏻♂️
All I can say about this drone is that it's a work in progress all be it slow hope they can get it right one day. Keep them coming Cap.
Hi Steve.....The company should be very embarrassed of themselves. Thanks for your efforts though.
Great...
Anyone else think this kind of resembles, the starship enterprise 🤣🤣, so who is going to build a body around this to make it happen 🥳🥳

Great review! ♥️❤️♥️

Well back to the vendor thru one of their Gps signal if u can get one lol.
Great review!
Well that kinda sucked. But you Got Er Don Thanks for another Grrrrrrreat video. Keep on flying
Hey Steve, It does appear that they’ve upgraded it to not work 😂 Looks nice but unfortunately its a no go when it comes to GPS sat lock.
Great review as always! I’m curious, what will you do with the drone? Send it back to the manufacturer for repair? Or dispose of it properly?
It sits on a shelf and takes up space & then when I need the space, it goes to someone local who uses parts of drones to create RC Planes.
You did better on the reviews and I would if I couldn’t get it to work like you didn’t I probably said something a lot worse that’s probably why I’m not a good reviewer lol thanks Steve forwhat you do
Cool
WTH ! No GPS working. Must be something going on with it, either switch off then back on. Sure Captain Drone will have it sussed out. Cheers
Maybe I missed the answer to this in the video, but what is the point or advantage of using 2 props versus the usual 4?
Efficiency. Less motors is more efficient
nice drone

I think I know what the problem is It uses the Belgian GPS system But because it rained they had to bring the satellites inside.
maybe work on android phone ?

Very sad on that company's part. Do they not realize the damage they did to themselves by putting out this very superior inferior product?
I have an old yunnek breeze and is far far better to catch satellites. Catch 18-20 satellites in 2 min. They need to fix this.
Thanks Steve for the informative review. But what a waste of time as it really doesn't work outdoors!
