Hi Ronnie, just discovered your channel with your videos about Stam Audio's U87i and subscribed. Does the U87i only work with its own power supply or also with phantom power and audio recorders like the Zoom F3? Does it have a normal XLR cable? Greets from Berlin!

Welcome to my channel! Berlin is the home of Neumann who make some of my favourite mics (as you may have noticed)! The Stam SA87i works with phantom power, it does not have its own power supply and also no battery compartment. Normal XLR out

Thanks Ronnie, yes Neumann is in Berlin. I should visit them sometime! I also looked at the SA47 tube, but this one has a big power unit for the tube, that is why I asked about the SA87i phantom power. I also look at Soyuz microphones and I have the Soyuz 1973 entry mic. Have you heard of them?

I haven’t tried Soyuz but I have understood that they make good mics. Tube mics need to warm them up for 30 mins, so I moved over to using the U87 and the SA87i as my main vocal mics. That way I can record straight away when I have a good moment.
