Needlenose is finally gets a figure after losing two fan votes back in the WFC Trilogy. Love how this guy looks in both jet and robot modes. Transformation is cool too. Wish his two Targetmasters, Sunbeam and Zigzag, were like the Battlemasters. But they're still neato. Looking forward to their Evolution release.

This reminds me of the tight and concise designs they were making back in Siege…rather than what they have been doing in Legacy. It’s a fully realized modern G1 design unlike some of the recent releases that compromised something.

Great review! Thank you! Shame about the Targetmasters. I know exactly why they did that, though: 1) GEEWUNNERS will insist on everything being EXACTLY LIKE IT WAS WHEN WE WERE KIDS, and more importantly, 2) because doing them that way is much cheaper.

Hey chefatron, I just wanted to say thank you.
I’ve grown out of transformers now that I’ve been in high school for a few years which is sad but things happen. I’ve moved on and have for awhile now. Thanks for the many hours of entertainment you’ve given me throughout my love for transformers, I have a strong feeling your Chanel will explode soon :)

Not trying to nitpick, but Spinister and Point-blank are tall deluxes like Ironhideand Trailbreaker. The car bots like Sideswipe and Prowl are average height deluxes. Cliffjumper and Bumblebee are short deluxes. That seems to be the approximate scaling now. The reason that Needlenose has such large gaps is primarily due to being a tall deluxe, which was prevalent with figures like Ironhide and Impactor; is due to the plastic budget. The Targetmasters are so simple due to parts count budgeting. I'd prefer the Siege Battlemasters, but this having to buy their partners a la carte, though I'd be happy to see those brought back, with the blast effects too.

Great review! If this had been a Voyager class there would have been budget to have that Targetmaster in true Battlemaster style, but other than that this figure is fantastic. If Hasbro wants they can even create Battlemasters down the road if people want to upgrade.

Definitely a little simple, but not every figure needs to be extremely complicated and over the top, sometimes we just need something like a simple deluxe car/jet and needlenose perfectly fills the role

This is indeed a very nice representation from the original G1 toy and I will pick him up as soon as I find him. But technically, it's still a robot with a jet on his back...

Too bad about the Targetmasters, but sadly NOT unexpected, with Hasbro going cheap AND getting greedy... (Note to HASBRO: If you insist on raising prices, then you MUST maintain the quality, OR maintain the price and cut back expenses on included items such as Targetmasters and hollow bits... BUT YOU CANNOT DO BOTH, and cheat YOUR CUSTOMERS, because if you DO, then you're just crooks and potentially lose sales/customers...)
They, unfortunately, did the same thing with the Targetmasters that came with Thrilling 30 Scoop too... At least we got them though, I guess, lol. Thankfully, I stocked up on a few extra Siege Battlemaster figures that I found on clearance here and there, JUST in case Hasbro pulled this cheap @$$ stunt, so I could customize Targetmaster partners for the rest of the larger Targetmaster bots... Including the double Targetmasters...
As a G1 fan, THIS sort of thing pisses ME off, because while I like the G1 versions of characters, MY current collection is being built with MORE ARTICULATED VERSIONS of the G1 stuff... If I wanted G1 accurate Targetmasters, I'd stick with the G1 toy versions, but THAT'S NOT what I want at all. I WANT updated & MORE ARTICULATED, especially for the money they're now demanding from us, even though OTHER toy companies AREN'T raising THEIR prices the same way the greedy BASTARDS at Hasbro are...

I loved my G1 figure of Needlenose, and he looks pretty ok, but feels like a big step down from the awesome Spinister
yeah, i think they tried too much, but had very little budget so they couldn't quit pull it off

maybe in your country, but not in Asia... we usually get stuff earlier than usual
oh and i don't know if you've noticed, and this is happening across all Hasbro brands not just transformers, (joes, marvel, star wars) every time hasbro says the release date, the products get shipped 2 months in advance... i've seen youtubers talk about it
If it's not Bayverse or G1 I guess I won't be buying it, because I've hated everything else so far in this line. Or at least I am not familiar with the G1 Targetmaster line.

those targetmasters are a waste of plastic and paint. Spinnister was an excellent DELUXE without needing his double Targetmasters. Pointblank needed his shield and better articulation more than that brick.

the hollow parts are a sore eye, even if it's for transformation. and that backpack sucks

All three of those target masters are trash.
That isn't an homage.
They are basically the same toy as G1 with no improvements.
As for Needlenose, I wish he were bigger. I like my earth jets being bigger because of the alt modes.
I will most likely use Needlenose for parts when I get him.
