*~~Connecting to my laptop whilst holding volume down button~~* A useful discovery I just found out is holding the volume up key and the power button for 10 seconds until it vibrates 3 times to shutdown the phone, very handy. So I got to the part where I hold the volume down key and connect the usb to my laptop. I was stuck on this for ages as it wouldnt go to the next stage - hence why I am here! Anyway I was eventually succesful after keeping the volume down button held for almost 2 whole minutes and then it finally went to the next step. Patience is what I needed here! And so here I am waiting for the software to do what it has to do... fingers crossed!

Once done I switched my phone on and I was also warned that this initial start up may take longer than usual. So I was prepared for this... however my original problem was that my phone was stuck on the start up Sony logo screen so I was getting very nervous when after 5 minutes the white logo screen was still all that was happening and all I could think of was the repair was a fail and now what do I do??? 10 minutes later, OMG... I am noe on the WELCOME screen... YAY!!! Thank you!

Kept losing wifi connection. The only option was to CONSTANTLY, AND REPEATEDLY RESTART MY PHONE. Contacted Sony. Gave me a solution - Sony companion. Didn't work. Contacted them again. They told me they we send me a postage-paid envelope to send my phone to them to fix. Not acceptable. My mobile phone is my ONLY phone. Seems like Sony doesn't want to support a less than 2-year-old phone unless I inconvenience myself, and drop out of touch with the world because they have my phone. Bell says "it's a problem with Sony phones". MORAL OF THE STORY - STAY AWAY FROM SONY XPERIA ANYTHING. THEY'RE CRAP.

Can anyone help me? I bought a Sony Xperia M3 mobile phone less than a week ago, ( what a dreadful mistake Ive made!) I did the phone to phone transfer of data. Got a prompt to reset my pin code... I key in, eg, let say, 123456. All went well until I took a break from setting up the phone, to answer a call on my landline. I returned to finish setting up the new phone, only to find I had to re enter the new pin code, again. I did and the phone simply locked me out! I have been calling and emailing Sony for days, but find they are sending me round and round in a maddening circle! I am not techno savvy, and is too old and tired for the everlasting run around! I am despairing over this issue with nowhere to go for help... Is there anyone out there who can help, please? Patricia

you may think they repaired the software, there are permanent bugs that needs to be fixed by fixing the software. Sony already left Xperia Z1 and it wasn't fun seeing a bright side on the back camera and crash-bandicoot facebook that puts you on the restart loop forever til you successfully remove facebook app. You know this when you're a C6903 user.

Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact Sony support. I tried a couple more times and the same error occurred. Is the repair done with the sim card in?(mine was). Does the internet connection on the phone have to be active? (or is the repair done exclusively from the downloaded Xperia Companion software on my computer?) My phone is only a few months old, bought on eBay from Hong Kong, the back cover cracked while my partner was putting on the soft case to protect it, the SD card keeps ejecting (had to wrap clear tape around it so it stays wedged in place) and now, the screen goes black as soon as one answers the phone and one sometimes doesn't even hear the caller, or it randomly reboots or turns off then refuses to turn on unless it is plugged in, though the battery is still almost full. Frankly, I appreciate your help but think the phone is a piece of sh..t.
