I stopped for three seconds and did a mini hands-up of praise and said, "Big fan. Have a great show." He actually smiled, but seemed relieved that I was moving along and not stopping for more. A publicist was getting up from a nearby table, but I was out of there before the gestapo moved in.

Love this song, it has so much atmosphere and you all nailed your parts, it sounded complete. The passionately delivered vocals really brings out the wonderful musical accompaniment. Bravo.
My absolute favorite song of all time. I can’t play this song enough times. Guitarist nailed the clean chorus and the solo (especially the whammy drop in the G string to high pitch note on the E a la Lifeson) perfectly. Drummer is spot on. Bassist nailed it although would love to hear more low end and more punch to get Geddy’s “Ric” time. And the singer...she’s phenomenal.

Altogether a solid work, but I do have a criticism regarding the vocals. It's less the pitch and more the volume at which she is singing. It seems that she tries to compensate for the higher vocal notes by singing at a louder volume instead of angling the pitch at a lower one. For example, Geddy never has to *shout* on his notes, not even nowadays when his range is considerably lessened, but these notes do come across as shouting; which takes away from the emotional quality of the words.
Again, great band work, but the lyrics are extremely important and have to be handled in that way.
I get what you're talking about. I felt the same way.. just couldn't put it into words.. Now that I think about it, It could be so because being a female, naturally Tahnee is singing in a relatively lower register than normal to match that of Geddy's. IMHO increasing lung capacity and vocal exercises is a good way to overcome the poor attack in vocals. Another solution is transposing the song altogether. But that would take away the 'Rush'ness out of it XD

I do have one SMALL suggestion tho, the music was spot on,and the vocals were great, but there were a FEW, not many, times where I felt that you over pronounced some lyrics, but this is by far the best Rush cover Ive ever heard.

WOW! Nicely done guys and gal. A female RUSH fan was hard to find back in the day and to find one today, I would say nearly impossible. Where did you find her? From someone who grew up in the 70's and 80's listening to this great band, very nicely done. Cheers.
I see so many bands jack this song. As a drummer I want to hear the subdued double bass notes played when the word 'barriers' is sung. Guy here nails it, lots of others can't hang though. I've even heard Neil play through it.
I have a weird idea...If your singer were to jack her voice another octave she would be the equivalent of Geddy's twin sister, if he has one...otherwise, I could close my eyes and you guys would sound like RUSH!!!

Unbelievably excellent! Well done especially on guitar and drums. Bass was great too. You guys obviously rehearsed a lot spent a lot of time getting to know the nuances of this song and delivered an excellent performance.
Not bad at all - I'd have mixed the bass more prominently, personally, but the entire piece was very well executed.

Some many RUSH covers I've heard get ruined by the vocal. Geddy's voice is so different from any other that it just doesn't sound right to me. But not here this young lady gets it done without trying too hard. Loved the guitar solo. Well done.

i was into it until the solo came. It's a really touch solo, because of the off timing notes. There aren't even a lot of notes, it's just the timing, bends, and the tremolo bar being used almost at once. Alex doesn't even player as good as the studio version.

NICE! This was the best of the three videos I watched of yours (Subdivisions, Tom Sawyer, Limelight). I think the singer sounded most natural/comfortable here. There were a couple points I thought she could have used a little bit of effect (reverb?)... I noticed a few spots where it seemed lacking something. Not her voice, but it seemed like her vocals were recorded in the most soundproof booth ever created, if that makes sense.
Bradley Gong thanks for watching! Interesting thought, what I can tell you is we try to mix our recording to emulate the original song as best as we can, a tricky task nonetheless.
I just found this video after running into some of the older videos a few weeks ago. It is a tough task to get the mix right, and I think you are doing a good job. I think Mischa is dialing in Tahnee's voice better in Limelight and Marathon than in older videos such as Xanadu. That said, putting on my audio engineer hat, I think he will be able to dial it in even better in the future. I don't think the voice is dry, but the EQ can be tweaked a bit (and maybe a large diaphragm condenser would be a good addition to the mic cabinet). The original recordings are using $2000-5000 condenser mics, so expecting a Beta 58 to replicate that sound - well, I think the sound that is coming out is great for the equipment available.
Could use more cowbell. Otherwise, pretty good.
I love this more than the original (although Rush is cool). I added this to my playlist.
