Even though I've watched this baby from the beginning I still shudder to see her poor swollen head. She was remarkably responsive for a little one who has suffered such trauma and is in pain. Khanyisa is a miracle baby in so many ways. Which is one reason why we love her so much!🥰🐘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
From the beginning I have watched and realize the elephants needed help from humans, be it hunters or villagers trying to protect their crops, you are providing this help, and I send up prayers for the elephants and the people helping and supporting them.

Wow! Can't hold back the tears! Our little Khanyisa came to us during the Covid Pandemic and from the very first day warmed our hearts. We knew she was a tough and determined little baby and she had the survival instinct in her. So many of us owe a debt of gratitude to Meisiekind, Adine and her family, the Carers, the doctors and to her HERD for helping us to deal with a crisis like Covid was and we got to see our little girl grow up! How can we not be teary eyed?
Khaynisa 🐘 was so fortunate to have been found and brought to HERD 🐘. She was a fighter right from the beginning. She found a new loving elephant 🐘 family as well as a human family that would help her heal. Adine Roode is an amazing woman with a heart ❤️ of gold. It is a treat and a sad time to see Khanyisa back then. As a adorable baby she make you smile . As an injured orphaned calf you could cry . Now when I see how far she has come with her huge herd (two legged and four) she makes me smile and be so thankful for everyone who worked so hard to save her . I look forward to her every milestone in the future now :)

Also, watch Fishan and Mambo's adventures and mishaps. You will find all of these under the HERD, Elephant orphanage in South Africa. Though the HERD also takes in and raises orphaned rhinos.
Even then, despite her horrific injuries, Khanyisa (as she was eventually named) displayed such courage and spirit. Petronel Nieuwoudt and her Team from CareforWild Rhino Sanctuary did a wonderful job caring for Khanyisa until the HERD Team arrived. I will always be grateful for what they did. ❤️🐘🦏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
