Crazy, he makes the guitar sound enormous. So rich.
RICH like being home on the holidays with everyone you love. Like eating too much birthday cake. His playing and the gear sound like how my mom's cooking tastes!
Saw him with John Mayer in 2019 - literally had tears in my eyes when he played his solo - I can honestly say it was historic guitar playing! Thanks Isaiah - for everything!
i realize it is pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
I saw Isaiah with John in Pittsburgh spring 2022. An unbelievable show.
thank you Reverb for profiling the next school of players, Isaiah Sharkey and Cory Wong etc. So cool to hear them.
flatheadcatfish9 Cory wong is meh. This guy is insane.
Why am I just hearing of this guy now? He has a great laid back way of teaching
Steve Rosebud idk he’s been around with D’angelo and some other groups but he’s still pretty young. I guess because he comes from gospel groups. He’s well known to them. I came across him before Mayer and found him on someone’s Facebook. And I had no idea who he was but I was like who is that? Next thing I see him on stage with John Mayer. Although, I know him now thx to John Mayer. You should check out his rendition of Eric Clapton’s Sunshine of Your Love. I’ll see if I can find it and copy paste it for you. instagram.com/p/BLJNZExBsLX/?igshid=qulpk5m7xnwl that’s from his Instagram page. Couldn’t find it anymore on utube.
He's doing this effortlessly....this is childs play to him
This dude also plays with John Mayer and he is 🔥🔥🔥
I like to think Mayer plays with Isaiah.
This guy's talent is insane! I can't believe the speed he can play with and how clean it is.... just wow!
👏 This guy is crazy good
He is honestly one of the smoothest players I've ever heard. As an engineer that's saying something
Spanky's heroes were Joe Pass & George Benson. Use to spend many hours hearing him play. Miss my guy.
Is Spanky’s Music on iTunes at all? I can’t seem to find anything.
JPaul Music He never finished his own project. You can find him playing on numerous people’s recordings such as: A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, D’Angelou, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Eric Benet..etc.
Thank you!
Also, Al Green's last project..
the one and only, spanky
I keep watching this again and again. The effortlessness... the tone... damn!
I love the Black Messiah record but I had no idea he is such a killer guitarist
And I think the fact that what you say is true makes him an even better guitarist, he knows when to play, but even more when not to. Know what I mean? hehe
A lot of those 'shredders' who are called the best guitarists should take note from this guy.
Jason Blaha Fitness FYI he was also D’Angelo’s guitarist.
holy moly, the man's got great taste for voicings.
Cool invitation! One of the most creative guitarists. When you transcribe his stuff you always learn new tricks and techniques
Speechless!
Like the music is just kinda happening and flowing through him, and he's enjoying the ride. Amazing.

The guitar has to be up there as the most versatile instrument. The things you can do on it are endless
ren hoek that’s why it’s so hard to master, so much diversity in one instrument and so many ways to express yourself
and then theres guthrie
Woody or Govan?
I wish there were more lessons by Sharkey

That quartet vamp sounds like sections you might hear in about a dozen Little Feat tunes live....such a drive :)
I was cooking and this video came on automatically and at some point I was like "wait... WHAT is going on here??"
His right hand is fantastic
sick chops.
Dude has some baby soft/smooth looking hands and arms. Lots of notes. Yep. Impressive.
Great lessons Bro!
So for the slow simple blues riff he spells out the tabs but when he shreds on jazz progressions it's just "something like that"
Sweet.
This guy is cool
Can Reverb do a collaboration with B&H Camera and test out a tripod maybe?
Sister Rosetta Tharpe used similar stuff to sing her gospel songs. She in turn influenced Elvis and the 1_3_5_6 rock and role riff became a hit!
Omg! Now thats guitar playing
this is great, almost a chord melody in the joe pass style... Sharkey rocks
he learned alot of jazz theory and had good teachers. started getting instruction when he was quite young i think
1:04 defiantly not coltrane
Yo this guy is the shit!!!!
Dude!!!!
Hey Joe!

.........I came
1:42 ohhhh is this even real ??
it is better to keep the chat to make it easier to learn than to watch you strike you are hard to understand
This dude is good.like chicken picked rockabilly
What does he mean the 3, 5, 6?
The numbers refer to notes in a scale cause there are seven notes in the major or natural minor scale. For that riff in E he was demonstrating when he mentioned it, you can think of the open 6 string as 1, the fourth fret of the 6 string as 3, the second fret of the 5 string as 5, and the fourth fret of the 5 string as 6. So in E major, E=1, F#=2, G#=3, A=4, B=5, C#=6, D#=7.
The only guy who can be better than him on guitar is Cacau Santos.
What the f*ck did I just see
