It’s enough to make a grown man cry, not with sadness but with joy. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion that can drive people to remember their past, and to grow.
For anyone saying, "Oh the music's tempo is off," or, "The key is different," I don't think these are necessarily "bad" by any means. From some of you, it sounds like you're expecting it to sound nearly identical to the original, which in that case, is just completely unrealistic. Sure, it's not technically impossible for another group to play this song almost the same as the original, but it really doesn't have to be. This performance was great (and probably sounded way better in person) and as such, should only be criticized on the performance itself, not how "accurate" it was to the original composition. For those who are saying something simple like, "Strings being louder than the woodwinds," that's fine. I personally liked this performance and it's take in a different key and slowed down, more exaggerated tempo. It really emphasizes some of the parts where less instruments are playing like at 3:09. The performance here is unique in its different, yet familiar approach to this wonderful piece. This is, of course, just my opinion and am not expecting everyone to agree with me. I just hate seeing this performance criticized for honestly, just silly reasons. It was a different approach to the original performance and I thought it was great. Anyways, thanks for reading and have a good one.
I think it's less of the tempo being off and more of the audio was not lined up properly with the video, at certain sections, I noticed the piano's sound would lag at least 2 seconds behind the video (Which isn't the orchestra's fault, just bad video quality) But I thought this sounded pretty darn close to the og and sounded really nice overall! Get's a thumbs up from me! :)
It's not that it's slower than the original... some instruments are trying to go faster while others go slow... it's more noticeable by the start. Then by the second time around they finally agree to all go slow...
I remember having the privilege of listening to this song performed live by an orchestra when I was a kid and i can’t help but to sob uncontrollably when i hear it again

Gotta say, I'm not THAT Mario fan myself, but certainly this song does in fact go perfectly and wonderfully while flying my X-Wing in Star Wars Squadrons and Rogue Squadron games
I let my children and nieces listen to this song and everytime they ask this song, its about mario galaxy game they played. They like this song because its an adventure type of happy type song..

It's not that the tempo is off, it's that it's missing the, for lack of a better word, "way of movement" of the original. Gusty Garden is very driving, it's energetic and intense. I feel like they played this far too "gently," they made it sound soft and wandering. It kind of has a bit of a "church music" feel. Still good though :)
Braddish V I don’t think you are worthy enough to criticize art like this. Btw no one is perfect, and no one cares that they where a little off beat (they really where not). Plus all of the audio just sound weird because it was recorded on a phone. Just saying...
@@Thevamp1reking fair enough, I just have my master's in music theory - recording aside; the tempo is still all over the place. Literally grew up to this song.
Gotta love that Conductors are still a thing, they ain't doing anything but flailing their arms. The level of the music doesn't change with his movement nor does anything get added or removed, so what is the point ? Outdated stuff that just stuck.
Man,that conductor is having the time of his life.
Would you blame him? :D

Your comment made me want to watch it. So beautiful man! I don't normally cry at music but I got a couple of tears and loads of goosebumps!
Yeah man... everytime i hear this song...
I swear to god, video game music done by an orchestra is always a blessing for the ears
3:37 I can't stop smiling it's so beautiful.
I would give anything to experience this song for the first time again.
Same, hearing it as a kid was one of the most beautiful things ever
Sameeee, oh god
I have never played Mario before but this song has a special place in my heart
when a song makes you cry for no fucking reason, you know it's good
This version made me feel like i was constantly being hit by memories of me playing the game as a kid, i love how they have approached it
I really want to go back to the day I first played Mario galaxy. This was obe of my first games i ever played and i love it so much. ♡
Wasn't my first game but damn it was it one of the best hell yes

sorry ( ´・ω・)
Also due to instrument limitations. For example, the original orchestra had a harp, while this one has a piano

Conductor is literally living the moment
Good for him 👍
This was my childhood game, and hearing this music damn near brought me to tears, nostalgia is an amazing and yet terrible thing man
Even though it’s in a different tune it’s still beautiful.
Reminds me a lot of good egg galaxy, it’s in the same key
I remember having the privilege of listening to this song performed live by an orchestra when I was a kid and i can’t help but to sob uncontrollably when i hear it again
The ending gave me chills. SO BEAUTIFUL PLAYED!!
*Welcome To the Galaxy*
Who cares if the strings are too loud? We always get drowned out by you woodwinds!
It's been two years since my younger brother passed away, listening to this music reminds me a lot of the good times I spent with him.
Very sorry for your loss

Play it in 1.25x to hear the music in Original speed (through half of the song.)
Slightly faster
I actually disagree, after the halfway point it becomes too fast in 1.25x
K.
Thx

the conductor is just dancing xd

The last part of the music loop , its so strong that a tear came out of my eye ... Xd
It's so beautiful 😭
Is it crazy that all this music was made for a goofy plumber that went to space to save a princess from a turtle.
The conductor is playing Wii
😆
Nintendo are the masters of video game music
I would say music in general they probably have the most used, iconic, beloved songs that any other franchise, IPS, or company.

Majestic, inspiring music, brimming with hope and wonder.
What I would give to be part of that orchestra...

I think it is the RIT at the start that bring everything off since the snare does the same thing and is the driving force
I love this video game
Together with Dire Dire Docs these are the best songs ever
Its beautiful 😢😢
Man, I've always wanted to hear some galaxy music played live! How'd you find this performance?
The pitch is the same as Cascade Kingdom (Super Mario Odyssey) and I like it
I am learning this in band class
Play at 1.25 Speed and you got the Game Version
So beautiful!
I will try with every bone in my body to get this piece to be the opening of an anime
why i am crying?
if you can listen to this with open back headphones
Nice upload, love it!!

How do I find one of these concerts. It's on my bucket list....
Una banda sonora épica u mágica hermosa
gorgeous, however I really missed the snare driving everything along.
정말 웅장하너라~
AMAZING
Beautiful.
Cool
Anyone know where to watch these kind of performances live. I doubt orchestras are still performing super Mario Galaxy now :(
Is it just me or should the song be going a bit faster
Tempo at start was fine, there was a RIT after a few bars which threw the snare of since it can not move
1:48
I personally think, it was a great performance, but the Piano was a little bit tooo present.
Is it just me or is this better thatcher original?
is it just me or is the sound dominated too much by the piano? sounds amazing tho.
Galaxy 3 is coming?
Love this, but the tempo is way off - by alot. Also the the string section is paying way to loudly and overwhelms the woodwinds. Just saying...

the percussion is perpetually slow and it throws me off lmao, idk if anyone in the comments said it but jesus
it's almost not the same without that guitar
i'm not one to talk but the orchestra is not in sync
It sounds sluggish, and it kills the adventure magic.
Kairu San No, not really, you guys are just greedy

@@jonathanthehuman6394 This is still a meme huh. Though this one died out years ago.
Where can I find the music for this song to show to my band teacher?
Me encanta, pero prefiero mil veces la versión con guitarra
Is this played half a step higher than the game?
Tempo is a little slow?
Yeah it’s 25% slower just put it in 1.25x
A bit emotional this way
Strings are overpowering everyone else, otherwise pretty solid arrangement
And snare is all over the place, but whatever
And? Who cares
:')
