Might have to give this one a go. Yeah I'm drawn in as well but the minis over cubes as well(Probably why I'm hesitant on 1775) plus this doesn't look like something overly complex and chintzy like say something from GMT. Not knocking them at all, I just know there games are probably more heavy and time consuming than something like this. Plus I enjoy a good two-player "war-style" game in the vein of BattleLore or Memoir 44'
An EXCELLENT review! One of the better presented and delivered ones I've seen done by anyone on war games. Very concise, deliberate and well paced delivery which makes watching it a pleasure and gives one a really good summary of what the game is and isn't. Keep it up!!
@The Dice Tower / Sam - shouldn't you resolve Vikings' dice first in the example you showed? If I am not mistaken, defenders should resolve their dice first, shouldn't they?
a question which kinda has to do with a "error" at 9:34 (only 2 units got removed rather than 3 from the 3 dmg) followed by the 10:58 fleeing without the error only 1 unit would be left instead of 2 > so now question what would happen then ? would he still flee or as enemys are already all dead stay at that location
Thanks for review...can you tell, what the diameter of minitures bases is? that would be very helpful for me for my decision to buy it or not....thanks..
I thought he Game ends when 1 player plays both treaty cards (as opposed to all 4 players)? Also I thought the new seal of excellence was exactly for games you want to play all the time.
Bil Wilds, replayability is high. There's multiple game scenarios in the base rulebook as well as multiple new cards to build your decks from. Each faction plays differently, so trying different sides is fun. There's also randomness throughout, so each game is unique. There's also already an expansion that adds a ton more (9 interchangeable modules) to the game.
You still alive or did Coronavirus get ya? Ya ever play this one? Just bought it. On its way. Will find out for myself if it's good or not. Looks impressive.
this battle resolution system looks ridiculous...radically simplified instead of calling the factions "theigns" and "huscarls" why not Mercian's and Men of Wessex? it's all SO random....is there much room for actual skill or planning??
You can see the exact moment Sam remembered 8.5 is the new Seal of Excellence. :D
Love reviews with Sam, he is so into it when doing these ...thanks man!

I know I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Demetrius Ronald Flixportal =)
@Felipe Braylen thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!!
@Demetrius Ronald no problem =)

Tough choice for Sam, Viking side, or the Green Side?
wonderful review. The names are provided in Lld English and not Old Norse on the map. Both old germanic languages, but just a little clarification.
One of the best war games for me :) Great game!
Nice review Healey! Definitely going to pick this one up.
I would also highly recommend the 9 or so modular expansions for this game.
Sam here...that might be coming in another video next week...
I felt this was the best of the series, as well. Great game.

Nice review. I am curious as to what you think about the expansions? I think they add quite a bit to the game myself.
@ min 10:42, didn't you roll with too many dice for the vikings?

I love this game. Great review and spot-on rating.
Totally agree on the rules ambiguity!

Excellent review
Viking is something you do, not someone you are.
Thats true but it sounds cool
The only benefit the small soldiers have over wooden block is that you can lay them down to indicate that they have moved.
What is that cool T-rex?!
What is the intro music?
How is replayability?

I dig it.

Sold all my Academy Games they were too basic and lack any historical flavor. I'll wait for Pendragon from GMT
