What a wonderful giving person Mr. Duke was. His wife was as well. Doris Duke had the same giving spirit and continued his legacy. I think all 3 of them would be proud of whats happening today in the Carolinas.

They went to expose the terrible abuse by their father to dr. phill tv show. Very disturbing. But they later admitted to be lying. The mother ask them to lie, she was paid by dr. phill show 250,000. They say the father never abused them and steep mother was like a real mother they never have. But now everyone think they were sexualy and fisicaly abused. The legal battle for the money is still ongoing i think. The mother of the twins is going crazy for a piece of the cake.

Honestly? I can understand that someone that is financially successful should receive recognition especially if the legacy made from that work goes toward some form of public benefit but in a product that has plagued the world with adverse health effects sort of begs the question that does the Foundation take the public to be morons? And as concerns the electrical power business, just how many customers during financially hard times were cut off power from his company or subject to rates that were created by a monopoly in the area.

Yeah, but back then they really didn’t know the health effects of smoking did they? And, I can tell you from first hand knowledge, that people who can not afford to pay their electric bill, specifically to Duke Energy, can ask for financial assistance from the company. It used to be true, that the electric company or heating company, are not allowed to turnoff the power/heat to an abode that has minor children, disabled bodies of any age, or the elderly. I hope that’s still true. Also, there are some grants that will pay for the electricity of individuals who are disabled. Also, for those who are interested, it is possible, should you have a desire to do so, that you can pay the electric bill or contribute/donate money to be used to pay the electric bills of those in need.

I think the worst part of chewing tobacco was the asbestos that was cut into the product. The asbestos caused tiny cuts in the gums and cheeks of the users, making the intoxicating affects of the tobacco to take place much faster. But, really, JBD was in business to make money. Which is no different than any other business. The good JBD far out weighs the so called “bad”. If we judge him by the product he legally sold, then do we equally judge the business owners of today’s addicting products? Such as the producers/manufacturers of alcohol and sugar, or whatever else? If what is he did was so bad that we can not even be thankful for the good he did, then can we praise anyone? Based on your assessment, not one single person on the planet should be recognized for doing anything good. Why? Because we have all done things we thought were good, but turned out to have negative consequences or harmful side affects. Even you, at one point in your life, made a mistake. Should I hold that against you for the rest of your life? Who cares that JBD’s father worked his tail off making a growing and manufacturing tobacco products so his family would have a place to live and food to eat, and a little extra left over to invest in his community’s infrastructure. Instead, be grateful that you have electricity to power your smart phone, your refrigerator, your washer and dryer, and whatever other electronic device. Be grateful the JBD Endowment is there to help the cover the expenses of people who aren’t as fortunate as you.
