Great to hear! I’m a German American, I have also been learning Ukrainian, since the invasion of Mariupol. The first word I learned was Дякую, just from watching the "20 days in Mariupol“ documentary. Of course with tears flooding my face. It‘s not difficult and it is such a beautiful language. The hardest part is writing.
Hope to one day find a Ukrainian wife.

Ukrainian is one of the few languages that (to me) sounds so beautiful just while being spoken. Some languages sound beautiful (or become beautiful) while they are being sung: Ukrainian sounds so beautiful just in mere conversation like in this video. It has an indescribable beauty, a poetry and melody to its exotic sounds. Many people want to learn Ukrainian (or any new language) as a means to an end (for this or for that): I want to learn Ukrainian for the sake of Ukrainian. For me, it's an end; and not a means to an end.

You can try to speak in Ukrainian with people in Odessa!
That could be the first step to learn this language and understand what you still do not know. But I know that it`s so diffcult to speak in the society in a different language!
There are also a lot of interesting books translated in Ukrainian. At least, you can read in Ukrainian more. Reading and listening helps to learn real language (especially for practice) :)

It depends on the place, most people in Lviv speak Ukrainian. Most places on the west speak Ukrainian. In the center or the East people may speak pidgin which is a mixture of Russian and Ukrainian, but due to the education now, more and more Ukrainians tend to speak Ukrainian.

Because of situation in our country since 2014, every year more and more people start speaking Ukrainian.
For centuries Ukrainian language was oppressed by Russians, so it's just a sad trace in our history, that still affects.
And of course, as mentioned above, it depends on the region of Ukraine and its history

In Ukrainian it’s де which means where. What if Putin takes Ukraine and everyone speaks Russian. Will Ukrainian as a language die out?
