If you make the base from 19mm clear acrylic, you can see from the top where your bit will start and how it is traveling as you go. Also, if you use a big enough piece of acrylic, you can clamp it to your bench upside down (with your router underneath) and use it as a portable router table. I look forward to your next idea!
